Post Script. Yesterday I looked at your studio singing workshop, and it appears to be "just the ticket" for what I am looking for. I love the part about showing up at the study after eating doughnuts. 🙂 Yeah, I think I will go to your website now and buy that puppy.

@@JudyRodmanvoice ; I am taking a week off from work to go up to the top of a 8,000+ foot mesa to camp, and while there I will go through your workshop and get some vocal work done. The C-1 will go with me because I want to get the "outside performance sound" for a song I have been working my butt off of practicing (SNUFF by Slipknot). It will be fun!

These are awesome! Thank you. I hang the microphone above and in front of me so that I keep my head up. I also sing to an imaginary "back of the room" audience, to project clearly.

Great! Through, not TO the mic! Makes a difference emotionally, too.

@@JudyRodmanvoice ; "... not TO the mic...." I pretend the microphone does not exist. Singing backup harmony is my favorite gig: while I am singing, I have no clue at all how I am going to sing (or hum) a line until I am singing it---- high, low, syncopated, or something crazy. One audience member at the Santa Fe Traditional Music Festival asked me how I "do it," and I told her "it just happens." LOL.

@@Desertphile 'it just happens'... love that!

@@JudyRodmanvoice ; Zen singing--- single without knowing one is singing. :-) Yesterday I worked with a teenager who was so tense, terrified, and anxious that he stood ridged with his hands clenched at his side, his jaw clenched, arms hard against his body, feet a few inches apart--- as if he was in a police line-up about to be fingered for a triple homicide. Gosh. It was funny because it was not funny. He asked why he had no breath control. I told him how to "fix" this, so I will see what happens.

For the 1st time I heard it here about bass instruments to be turned down or reduced while we sing . For this moment I am only surprised about bass instruments's because I never noticed or experienced such things, but I only experienced classical guitar with nylon strings bothering my voice a lot while singing.

Thank you for your response... different singers do well with differing mixes in their headphones. I would suggest that you experiment with raising and lowering (or muting) certain instruments to see what is most helpful to your own ears. The classical guitar may be distracting if it's too 'busy' playing various embellishments or riffs. In that case, you might want more piano or something else in your cue, and less classical guitar. I'd love to know what you find out!
