Simple. Before travel get cash in USDs and on board the flight. Use cards only for swipes not for withdrawals.

Yes Bank debit cards also have zero conversion fees. Have found this useful.

In Thailand, 220 Bhat (apprx 5 USD) is fixed service charge for any card. . . I faced this issue. .markup feed depends on the card u r holding. .

The Axis bank card requires relationship value of 10 crore and above, just to save 5% markup it doesn't make sense to block your 10 crores, that being said not everyone has that kind of money

It looks like You selected DCC option. Never 👎 select home currency when doing foreign transactions.

Any card you put 220 baht is the fee no matter what even if your card is FOREX they still charge 220 baht

That fees is charged by Thailand Banking system and it's fixed to 220 thb for international cards per atm transaction. Mark up fees is charged by your bank it can range from 1.5% to 4%. Some cards also have DCC(dynamic currency change charge) depending on That's rate. So it's better to you Forex cards or just swipe or carry a fixed amount of Dollars.

Best way to save money on international trips is ask your hotel to give you local cash and that amount will be added into your bill at prevailing exchange rate. Hotel may charge only 1-2% in local currency or even 0 for forex which is way more cheaper than carrying cash from India. Pay your final bill by your any credit card which may charge 2-3% markup. I have done this on my Dubai and Sri Lanka trips.

I think instead of using credit or debit cards one should use pre paid card and load it prior to travel to save conversion price and also price fluctuations Credit and debit cards must be the last option and not the first

Very impractical advice. The cards mentioned require crores in account. Go old school, buy a forex card. For petty cash, take 50 USD/ Euro from the nearest forex shop and then convert it in local currency later.
