I am going to be more diligent about cleaning my kitchen after i cook so that everything is orderly for the next meal prep. It is discouraging to walk into a messy kitchen when hunger pangs arise. When that happens I am prone to make bad food choices. Happy New year to you and yours. ( I have a very small kitchen and it doesn't take much for it to go sideways)

That’s a great habit to try and implement! I know what you mean about the messy kitchen, it definitely doesn’t inspire you cook a nourishing meal. Happy new year and hope you can stick to your new year resolutions 😊

Really good idea. I’ve been trying to do this too. I find it hard to have sensible thoughts or make decisions when there’s a mess around the sink and worktops. I have limited energy so when I need to eat, I find it nice to start with a clear space. Not very perfect about this but getting there! ❤

I don't care for the larger leaves in kimchi but I've made kimchi using Happy Pear's videos and the texture of that suits me much better. Also if you like onions making your own pickled onions with fine sliced red onions and apple cider vinegar is delicious. Definitely going to make both those things again in 2025.

Oh yeah, I’ve just bought my girlfriend their new cookbook so I’ll have to give that a go! Love making pickles as well so I’ll join you in making them in the new year 😃

I want to eat more wfpb with little or no oil. I've recently started experimenting more with tempeh. Red cabbage, ginger and apple sauerkraut is easy to make and so delicious. If you cook sauerkraut it becomes prebiotic which feeds the probiotics in your gut. The river cottage fermentation book is a good one with some fab recipes.

That sauerkraut sounds good, I think when’s it’s just plain cabbage that puts me off! I’ll check that book out, I’ve had other books from the river cottage and they’ve always been good.

In general, as others have said, I'm looking to find more ways to incorporate extra vegetables into my food supply. One thing I've done for decades is to pick something to experiment with over each coming year. When I was young I focused on techniques and basic categories (broths, soups, stews; broiling things, braising things, etc.). More recently I've been exploring the more ordinary cooking from other cultures and countries. I got myself some cookbooks that focus on the basics of Indian cookery this holiday season. Nothing fancy or elaborate, just a chance to explore the flavors and textures. Last year I didn't have a particular focus, but I got an inexpensive smoothie blender sort of at random and it's really improved my meal replacement options. Almost anything can become a smoothie. Some sweet, some savory, some icy, some piping hot. They're a great way to keep me on track with good nutrition. Plus, I adore using my little blender to make soaked raw cashews and water into my own nut milk. So easy to just make a little to make a smoothie or soup have a nice creaminess.

That’s definitely the best way to go about cooking. Starting with the basics gives you an a good understanding of the cuisine and then you can expand your knowledge from there. I love Indian cooking, there’s so much layering of flavour and texture that goes into each dish! I also love my smoothie blender and use it for pasta sauces, curry pastes, smoothies and so on. I need to start using for oat and nut milks as well, they’re so expensive from the supermarkets. Happy New Year 😊

With tempeh, I crumble it up quite small and dry fry it it dry out moisture and brown it a little, then I proceed to use it for a bolognaise. It’s amazing and you really can’t tell. I also like to put a handful of toasted crumbled walnuts in it for a great texture balance 😊

Sounds great! I’ll give that method a go 😋

Yes, one of our New's Years resolutions should be and carried out throughout the coming year is eating healthier, I've gotten hooked on overnight oats for breakfast, but also thinking of making vegetable pancakes, with shredded carrot, cabbage, spring onion, etc. Currently making them with fresh, organic eggs but trying to veganize the pancakes with other binders, and one is chickpea flour. Thanks for sharing buddy, you're on it! 👍and 👋greetings from Mexico wishing ya a Happy New Year's 2025! 🥳

Always a good time to eat healthier! I’ve been hooked on overnight oats as well, so handy to have breakfast ready when you wake up. Mmm veggie pancakes sounds good, you could have them some scrambled tofu or baked beans 😋 Happy New Year to you and your family in Mexico!

Not that I don't do this already but I want to find more recipes that include a lot of vegetables in them. I find a lot of the recipes on your channel to be a bit more involved for me personally but I appreciate the creativity that you bring and the ideas that you spark. I also want to try more grains and find something to replace pasta that's a bit more healthy and doesn't upset my stomach like normal pasta tends to do. I have tried rice pasta which is a good alternative, but perhaps there is something better out there for my dietary needs. Hoping you accomplish your goals in 2025 and keep making awesome recipes and videos!

Sounds like a good plan! It’s never a bad idea to try get more veggies into the diet. So glad my videos spark your creativity, I understand they can be a little too time consuming. I’ll try and think of some creative recipes that are fairly quick in the new year. They’re quite a few different grains so I’m sure you’ll find one you enjoy and works for your body. Hope your 2025 dreams come true and I look forward to seeing you in the comment section in future videos 😊

Hi George. You mentioned protein breakfasts .... any thoughts on full separation of protein and starches, food combining style? Could you do something on fermenting please? Tried kimchi thrice .... failed thrice!! Edit: 5th batch of granola coming this week. Batch 2 pancakes too. 😋 Have a great New Year.

I’ve definitely heard of it although never tried it myself. Too much to think about in the morning 😂 Hmm I’ll definitely be looking into fermentation in the new year 😃 That’s great! So glad you’re enjoying them 😋 Hope you had a lovely Christmas and have a happy new year! 🎉

How funny i also want to start eating better breakfasts. Typically my breakfast is a snooze or a slice of toast/bagel/roll on the way into work. I got a blender the day before yesterday and some frozen fruit and the plan is to make smoothies as they seem quick to make (under 5min in the morning) and also an easy way to get more calories and protein in via pbfit/nuts/seeds/soymilk/silken tofu. For getting more fermented foods in look at quick pickles. You can make smaller portions. I like white cabage as its great in stirfrys and soups but i like to use about 1/3rd of it to make a saurkraut (salt it to draw out moisture and then use that as its brine) but by making small pots and often you get to change up the flavours and normally its gone before it gets too funky (i like it in the early stage where funkiness=saltiness), experiment more and if things go bad you arent left with a 3L jar of rot you have to dispose of >_< I need to try making dill pickles or gherkins though i love getting those from the shops but never tried making them before.
@EarthyGoodnessKitchen18 күн бұрын
Aha a snooze sounds like a great breakfast 😂 I always rely on smoothies when things get a bit busy, you can adapt them to your diet requirements and how hungry you are. That’s a good point about eating it before it gets too fermented and funky. Also a good idea doing small batches as experiments. I’ll definitely be doing this in the new year 😀

Hi George, those are great habits to adopt in 2025. Here's I'm adding another. Try to have a gap of at least 2 hours between dinner and the sleep time. I'm sure it will be tough to follow. But let's see. Besides, i was sending you an email. Check that out when you get time.
@EarthyGoodnessKitchen8 күн бұрын
Hey, oh yes I’m always trying to increase the gap between my last meal and sleep. Not always easy though depending on who you’re living with. I’ll get back to you soon :)
