I like to “play paint” and a friend of mine loved my work. She said she couldn’t paint the side of a barn. But….we “play painted” one day and she loved it. Within a year she was selling her work in Houma Louisiana. She far surpassed me in skill. She has since passed from ovarian cancer but I still smile and remember her every time I look at her beautiful paintings I have. She would always say, “If I can paint, anyone can”. I love your work. ❤❤❤❤

Good afternoon Christina, I will have to think and type very fast this afternoon as a unexpected thunder storm is ready to break in about 5-10 minutes time. It is unusual for this time of the year on the Highveld, we do get occasional downpours and it can become very dry, so actually I am very grateful for the rain coming. I trust it will not be violent. The paper Mache project turned out so charming with the natural stones to decorate. You really are blessed with innovative ideas for décor ideas. It is clear to see we do not have to be millionaires to make our homes posh and comfortable, at least we live in them! The owls turned out so natural and yes, I also love their eye expressions. I think my favourite one today is the jug. It is looking so posh and the gold line just rounded it or rather finished it off perfectly. It reminds me of the Japanese artist that saved a precious vase by filling in the crack with a mixture of gold paint, it brought about a complete new item. The hairy dogs are really enjoying each other's company. Strong and proper breeds make good home pets. We are having a public holiday on Monday so it made this a 'long' weekend for the workers, which I am sure they will enjoy an extra mornings sleep in. So, all I can say is I wish you and Ryan and the dogs a most pleasant weekend, take care be happy. Kind regards, Elize.

Your owls are so cute. Last week a friend and I went to a place that sells stone for landscaping and for building but they also have a section of river rocks that you can go scavenge for pennies. We are going to fry our hand at painting pumpkins for a Fall craft fair. She also did some paint pouring on some as well. I love the modern beach feel of your new home. Of course I also loved the 100 year old Victorian as well.

Never have I heard of using hair spray. I like the effect you got using it. Have you used sand, baking powder or is soda added to your paints? You are so talented Christine. Your voice almost lulls me to sleep it's soft. Thank you for gifting us with your unique talents.

Deb, Christina has a video showing 10 things you can add to paint for texture. She included sand and soda, and others such as plaster of paris, salt, and even sawdust! I like the hairspray effect, too. Gotta try that!

Good question! I thought just for consistency in the other rooms to keep them the same, plus they were new, so i did not think to change them. i did wall paper my outlet covers in my victorian home that had brown electrical plates! ❤️🙏🎨

Wow these are all fabulous but hands down fav is those owls!!❤❤. I want to paint a couple of pots to have that old decayed look I think you have used both acrylics and chalk but would love to know if you had a preference? Is one better than the other depending on the technique?

Hi yes you can use whatever paint you have handy either will work for this effect! Take a look at my new video today and you will see that I used acrylic paints on my furniture piece as well. ❤️🎨🙏
