A good starting point for crossovers is 1.5 times the speaker's lower - 3dB point. This gives you a half octave smooth transition and still let's you take advantage of larger speakers. You may have to tweak it beyond that if you have any frequency/phase issues, but this is a solid guideline in my experience.

the $199.99 Dayton SUB1500 goes down to 23Hz the $119.00 SUB1000 goes fdown to 30Hz pretty well which is respectable for inexpensive subs. the 12 inch monoprice also does pretty well going down to 25 or so pretty well too, its a bit "boomy" but I like a tiny bit of a "hump" in my music.

I have my center channel on the floor under my projector screen. Got tired of seeing a stack of Blu-ray cases proping up the front. Went to Home Depot, bought a 18" bath towel bar (brushed nickel) and mounted it to the bottom of my center. Got the angle just right. Looks great and it looks like it came from the factory like that.

My #1 tip would be to get a receiver that is capable of doing eq. I find that a lot of really great tower speakers really need eq to give a flat frequency response. My parents have some really nice infinity c336 towers mated with an entry level receiver and you can only hear the high frequencies from them that are bouncing around the untreated room. On the flip side, I have some compact tower speakers in my room paired up with a high end receiver that does eq so I am all good, but they are not unless they spend the big money for a new receiver. I hadn’t watched your video yet so I don’t even know if that was your #1 too. Edit after watching the video: I think Youthman is going to win the arm wrestle; he moves so many big subs, Youthman is definitely the winner. Besides, he showed his guns in a previous video.

Youth man and Techno Dad have always been my audioholic favorites not to forget Gene from Audioholics! Great to see you all get together and get "sober" lol... So I tried to angle up the center channel a bit (after watching this video ) with some white foam covered with black tape my set up sounds just a bit better.. I also played a bit with crossovers..but I have to tell you if you have a Denon AVR (X1100w to X6500w,) once audyssey set up is complete all you have to do is just leave all the crossovers to 80hz and speaker config to "small" ..restorer to low setting..dynamic EQ to "on" and Dynamic Vol at "light" setting. This has been my best Denon/Polk friendly set up so far.. The following Is my HT set up Denon AVR x2300w Polk Tsx 550T Towers Polk CsiA6 Center Polk Monitor 70's as surround A Polk Monitor 40's as surround backs Next time when you guys get sober...be prepared to deliver the video with some bullet points at the end of the video. Thanks for telling me to angle my center channel.. Not sure why I didn't think of it. Re-watched Endgame, and WOW. All I did was angle it down by a few degrees and the change was amazing. Maybe to the typical movie watcher wouldn't notice the difference, however it definitely sounds like people are talking directly in front of me now. It is screwed to the wall so all I did was unscrew the top screws a tiny bit and it angled the whole center channel.

You can cut a wooden wedge to put under your center speaker instead of spending $15. That is nothing to you but others it can be a problem. You can even cut peices of styrofoam with a sharp knife. There are many things possible without shelling out cash for something so simple.

I think again it's that same old answer.. It completely dependsnon the room. What's in the room such as carpet vs wood floors. Furniture can even help. Reflective vs absorbant materials. 2 good dual subs will always work better in room than 1. If you have bean bags blankets, pillows etc try those in the corners and see if you notice a difference. My system sounds better than any movie theater I have ever been in. At one time those subs were on sale for under $100. When you say cheap subs are no good it makes me want to not watch your videos because beleive me more people cant afford them than can.
