Whenever I'm using my food processor to cut up cheese for homemade pizza, I take the opportunity to chop up a bunch of other things as well. It's an easy way to shred things like onions, ham, chunks of leftover roast, and anything else I think I might cut up to use in a meal that week. If I'm already committed to cleaning up a food processor, I may as well get the maximum use out of it.

Totally! When I make cole slaw I start out with carrots and make extra for salad or carrot banana muffins. Take those out then do onions then cabbage. Also - do the dressing in a bowl nit in cuisinart and the whole thing rinses out! I Use Mine for Everything! Best kitchen invention ever. Worked for a catering company years ago & learned a ton of uses & recipes. Love ATK! And yes, please 🙏 Lose the Music!!!

A great way to clean the food processor when done is to fill with warm water to the fill line and add a couple drops of dish soap and process. Makes cleaning it so much easier.

Never put fresh ice in your food processor! Always wait until it starts to go clear a bit and run a bit of water. Strain it and use it then. Super hard ice can chip or break your blades at worst, and dull them very quickly at the least. No one wants to choke on a blade shard... :o I learned this the hard way when I bought a snow cone maker and destroyed it on the first try. I read the instructions and it told me this same thing. I replaced it and have been using it for over 2 years just fine. It makes a big difference!

I use my processor all the time. I have, and highly recommend, a Braun processor. I used mine to make potato flour from dried mashed potato flakes - use those for Pullman bread. Mine has a little bowl that fits inside for smaller jobs like garlic butter, and blue cheese dressing. I also use my processor to make scones. Mine has a citrus juicer attachment, does a great job for lots of juice. Of course, I also use it to make pico de gallo and the mean crushed onion and pepper sauce I use as base for meatloaf. I love my food processor!

@@ellamone9998 Major yikes. No, they don’t all work the same way. You clearly have never watched any comparison videos between brands. So many or absolute garbage! Furthermore, people use food processors to save time in the kitchen because either they don’t have the time to spend cooking that long, but want fresh food, or they have a physical limitation (the latter is my issue, as I have a physical disability). That indeed is a lifestyle! Grow up!

I always make pizza dough in my kitchenaid food processor, but I usually use warm water to help activate the yeast. Also, the recipe that came with the processor never suggested waiting 10 mins before adding the oil ( and I always use olive oil for better flavor). It also suggested breaking the dough ball into chunks after it collects at the top of the blade and re-whirling a few times ( to approximate kneading, I guess). I usually let the finished dough rest in an oiled bowl afterwards - at least 30 mins if using quick rising yeast. Curious if it makes any difference to wait before adding the oil, so will definitely try this. I also usually add a bit of salt, garlic powder, and herbs de province, thyme, or oregano ( and sometimes a dash of cayenne if I’m feeling frisky) to the dough to enhance the flavor.

@@keales9564 No you don't, kneading develops gluten by incorporating water to the flour. The food processor is basically a kneading machine on steroids, it destroys and combines everything until gluten absorbs enough water that it becomes a elastic dough and can't break no more. It only works on low hydration dough thoug, so the kneading machine is still better for a wide variety of breads and stuff.
@tezoteso5623

@@keales9564 Also, is the same reason why no knead bread recipes exist. In some cases, with enough hydration, you can let a dough develop it's gluten by itself with fermentation.

Why have music at all? It adds nothing to a cooking demo. And Brooks, that’s correct. As we age, we lose the higher ranges of sound first, so women's voices become less distinct to all of us, women and men. So it’s particularly important to have no or low volume background when women are the presenters and the audience is of mixed ages.

I'm on the hunt for a good processor to buy this week but can't spend more than $50 including tax, I've been watching so many videos on reviews and I would Iove to be able to make dough with it- can you recommend one that is well built and atleast holds 8 cups? Thank you! 🤗💐💜

I think most manufacturers warn against crushing ice in a food processor. Ice is too hard for those long, delicate blades and the particular model of Cuisineart you're showing is notorious for fractured blades. Only use a blender for ice crushing.

How come it doesn’t dull or chip the blades of a blender though?

Thank you. I just bought a food processor and am wanting to find out what I can do in my new toy other than the basics.
