Interesting using the almond flour...now what I want to know is, what happens if you use the almond flour in the less healthy cookie? I wonder if it'll work with the eggs and leavening agents because although I LOVE soft cookies in general, peanut butter cookies are normally soft, so I think a bit of the crust makes it yummy.

loved your recipes but really wished diet culture wasn’t so pushed down our throats that we feel a cookie is “guilty” the only reason you should feel guilt about eating a cookie is if you stole it!
@doodahgurlie
@doodahgurlie 3 жыл бұрын
I dunno. There are certain foods I feel guilty (is bad a better word?) about eating and indulgent doesn't quite describe it. For example, I can't stop at 1 serving of potato chips. I eat half a bag or the whole bag depending on the size. Same for certain cookies or other sweets (considering I don't really like sweets as much now that I'm older). There are many of us out there with self control issues and are emotional eaters when it comes to certain foods. I'm not overweight because I indulged on ONE little cookie every now and then, I'm overweight because I DEVOURED a ton more than recommended. LOL! I'd say many Americans have this issue based upon how overweight and unhealthy we are and as evidenced by the grocery shelves stocked with snacks and junk food. I'd rather people be be blunt and truthful than pretty up words like "guilty" so they'd be "nicer" but not necessarily an honest reflection of what is happening.
@andreagamboa4288

@@doodahgurlie the amount for sure counts, but more and more health professionals are speaking up about the dangers of labeling food as good or bad, somethings are just offer more nutrition than others. I was talking more about the intuitive eating way of nutrition. Personally ever since I stopped viewing food as good or guilty I changed my relationship with food. Still love both recipes but no a fan of shaming myself for choosing either :))
@doodahgurlie
@doodahgurlie 3 жыл бұрын
I think there's a whole lot more that goes into the psychology of eating and health professionals aren't necessarily on target in how they explain things. It's not a one-size fit all solution. It's what works for you and you have to figure it out as your relationship is food is very individual. I've tried to figure it out over the years whilst munching on my family-size bag of kettle chips. Obviously, not there yet with a solution. LOL!

These cookies look amazing! I love your post and this isn’t meant to be judgmental in any way :) Just a reminder to anyone who reads this that you should never feel guilty over eating a particular food. What we eat and how we move is important, but your mental health towards food is very important too! Disordered eating isn’t talked about enough and is especially difficult for some people around all the New Years dieting trends. Counting calories and calculating every little thing we eat can lead to serious anxiety when we don’t meet the unrealistic standards we set for ourselves. Your body isn’t a math equation! Listen to your body and eat if you are hungry, don’t if you aren’t. Eating intuitively doesn’t mean eating what we label as “bad foods” all the time, it just means eating for self care instead of restriction. Anyways that’s all for my little ramble, to whoever reads this: I hope this year brings you joy and peace, remember to be kind to yourself!
