Practicing my answers without making them sound rehearsed is a major one for me to feel confident, especially since I'm prone to ramble or look around when I talk if I'm not fully prepared for the question. But visualizing the whole experience from arrival, all the way through to walking out the building at the end, also makes a huge difference for me in any occasion- especially interviews. Your brain has already seen it going well & like you said, it won't feel like the first time & stepping into the unknown. This was something I was taught when I played sports in school & it really does make a difference, to reduce anxiety. I've been enjoying your videos these past few days, while preparing for interviews. Thank you so much for your pep talks!

#2 is my fave. also it helps to pretend the interviewer is your BESTFRIEND! thanks Cass, your videos have helped me in the past in SO many ways. starting a new job interview after 3 years! 🙏🏻

I haven't found that to be true, and I know a few others haven't either. I know it can backfire. For example, if I were hiring someone, I wouldn't hire someone who was giving off "best friend" vibes; I'd want someone who views me as the boss/supervisor in a business situation. That's who I'd want to hire.

Sometimes feeling confident and comfortable isn't a good thing though. Lately I've used - It's just a conversation, and This is the only question, and was very comfortable. One interview went great (I thought), we had a great conversation, we talked, we laughed, I left feeling like I had the job! I never heard from her again. That wasn't the first time. I've noticed that when I'm just anxious and kind of ill at ease (normal for me), I get much better results, and don't ask me to explain it! At this point I'm so confused I don't know what to do, and I'm still unemployed.

I think some employers want to see you a little nervous. They take it as a sign that you care.

I watched this video just before entering my video interview today - I liked the ideas of treating it like a conversation, tell yourself this is the only question they're going to ask you and embrace the throwaway mentality to help reduce the feeling of pressure...now, I just wait 2 days and hope for a great outcome :) Thank you so much for all of your videos/advice!

Great convo and tips, thanks. Job interviews have caused me to go completely mute during them at times, because the anxiety was so intense. Mindfulness meditaiton was a great thing I had to learn. I was using the book "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels to learn some basics. I kind of see interviews, or anything anxiety inducing, as a classroom now for practicing mindfulness meditation. It helps me at least.
