Obviously they're trying to start with two relatively young actors so they can establish a cinematic universe franchise... which I guess makes sense. But if we're picking a one-off best-case scenario cast... Nathan Fillion as Drake and Tom Selleck as Sully. Not even close. Those two, especially in their hayday, would have been perfect. If only the franchise started 20 years ago.

Spiderman had to remain a high school student for three movies in the current MCU version so casting and intelligent, sensitive adult who is unusually small, young sounding and young looking was perfect. But Tom still looks and sounds like a teenager. Like Nathan Drake would never look at 20 years old. So they cast an extra short Sully and we get this Funko Pop Uncharted. The look is just a little bit ridiculous for this universe and these characters. There's plenty of hate for Whalberg but I've seen him do some great things and Tom is obviously a terrific actor but just stupid choices for these characters at any age.

Or, they just shouldn't have made a live action movie. The Uncharted games were basically movies when it comes to dialogue, characters, writing, set pieces, action etc. The difference? You could interact as Nathan Drake in the games. Making a live action movie would be pointless because there is literally no dimension where the audience would be more immersed in the story in a live action movie than the already stunning Uncharted series.
@ZachMaster263 жыл бұрын
As someone who played the games, I had to piece this together. It could go that route, or it could play out differently as you said in the video. Sully's Mustache: The movie is set sometime after losing Sam in the Panamanian Jail (or so we thought). During that time, Sully must have shaved the mustache. Meeting Chloe: When we first meet Chloe in UNCHARTED 2, Nate already knew her. One thing I wanted for the movie (or movies, if Sony greenlights a sequel depending on how well it does), is first-time meetings with other characters. Meeting Sully: Meeting in New York is probably a staged act around other people. Sam Drake: Sam's involvement is due to the fact that Nate and Sam have been taking turns going to jail in their youth, and Sam was in jail when Nate first met Sully in Columbia. So Sully met Sam while Nate was behind bars. The Plane: How else would Nate know about getting on the cargo plane that later crashed in the Rub' al Khali in UNCHARTED 3? And save Sully from Marlowe and Talbot.
@markarp3 жыл бұрын
I just think they disregarded a lot of things that happened in game and how the story progresses. Nate didn’t have the ring before he met sully in the trailer, if I recall correctly. And like where tf is elena ?

Nathan and Samuel didn't litterally took time being in jail you know. I played the games, I know Nathan said that "it felt like the only times we weren't taking turns going in jail, it waa because we were in jail together.", but it doesn't necessarily means that Nate would go into jail the exact day Sam was realised, or that Sam didn't go into jail the exact day Nathan was released either. It doesn't work like a clock, they must have had some times together outside of jail too, and it would likely for Nathan to let Sully meet Sam one of those few weeks they were both outside.

I can't, Nathan Fillion was literally the best pick for Nathan Drake. He nailed his personality and appearance in the short fan made film. I actually think that Sony made the right decision by changing up some things. If the movie was just gonna be a shorter version of the game, there would be no point in watching it. You would know exactly what has happened and nothing would be original. The movie is supposed to be stand-alone and only take some stuff from the original games, so that you can see that it is supposed to be uncharted. It’s much more refreshing this way. On top of that, if they were to just remake the games in movie form, people would be mad for scenes to be deleted, as the movie obviously ain’t as long as the game.

Well, every video game to movie changes a bit. Just how it goes. They aren’t going cutscene by cutscene for any of the games, it’s a semi- original take on the games kind of meant to be separate. I kind of understand why they do it this way. I’m able to separate the games from this movie enough that it’s a fresh new take, but still be excited about the references and the call outs to certain scenes, dialogue and more from the games. I think as the series pushes forward we’ll see this young version of Nathan grow into the character we meet in the games- which is a pretty cool way to do things.

Also nate got the rig off sully in the third game during a flashback. In the movie sam has it In the orphanage. Also the plane scene in the game is in the desert. The movie has the plane over water

I see Bryan Carson more as sully, Chris patt as drake (older drake), tom holland as younger drake, and Mark wahlberg as sam.

Nathan Fillion best Drake, looks and sounds exactly like him no one's can or will top it but it's Tom Holland as long he has his snarky cocky and unfortune down I'll remain optimistic Edit: I've just seen the movie and I'm properly impressed.

Agreed. I don't have high hopes at all but Tom Holland is the reason I have ANY hope

Why would Wahlberg make that video of him with a great mustache but then it's not in the movie whatsoever? Even in the after credits scene that's a different thinner mustache than the cool looking one in his video.

the post credit scene shows sully's stache so it will show in the sequel

Well, since there is so much negativity in the comments, I’ll be a source of positivity. I just went and watched the movie today with two of my friends, one has never played the games and the other has played ALL of the games. Both of them loved it, and I did too. Sure, the actors may be younger than the characters, but their lines and their chemistry made it work. I think Sony did a great job and I am eager to see a sequel. Im buying a copy as soon as I can.

Nathan Fillion "Nate" and Tom Hanks "Sully" was it too much to ask for?🧐
@nyretro41772 жыл бұрын
The only reason Nathan fillion was perfect for the role because of three things. 1. He looks like Nathan drake 2. His first name is ‘Nathan’ 3. He made a fan short film And that why he is perfect for playing Nathan drake.

Elena a major character wasn't in the movie
@rob4eva2 жыл бұрын
Yes because it would be too soon for them to meet tbh but what I find more important is how Drake and Sully meet. They changed the origin, no longer did they meet when Drake hunts down the iconic ring. Nope... instead he gets it from his brother which is completely unexplained how Sam even got it. Plot hole that could have been avoided if they just kept it the same as in the games.

so does the movie take place in a parallel universe or part of the game series?

The movie being different to the game is a great idea. Why bother if it’s just going to be the game but on a big screen.
@GoldenSpike3003 жыл бұрын

Exactly my point. Adaptations shouldn't have to resort to being shot-by-shot recreations of their source material. There's going to be changes but as long as the movie itself is entertaining enough, I ain't gonna give a shit. Lack of blood in Mortal Kombat '95? Don't care! Joker being Bruce Wayne's parents' killer in Batman '89? Don't care! Chucking away voodoo magic in favor of rogue AI in the Child's Play remake? Don't care! The Mask being made into a family comedy? Don't care! Frankenstein having an assistant instead of doing the work on his own? Don't care! No giant squid in Watchmen? Don't care! Thanos being given a completely different motivation for wiping out half the universe in the MCU? Don't care! Spider-Man having organic web-shooters? Don't care! No child orgy in IT? Don't car-Okay, bad example. Ariel not dying at the end of The Little Mermaid? Don't care! Bane not being Hispanic in The Dark Knight Rises? Don't care! Scarlett Johansson playing the Major in Ghost in the Shell? Don't care! Jenner being a major antagonist who ends up getting a dagger to the back for his troubles in The Secret of NIMH? Don't care! The uniforms in the X-Men movies? Don't care! Daryl and Meryl Dixon being characters in the Walking Dead TV show that were never from the comics? I, Don't, Fucking, Care! If the film is shit, then fine, I'll say that it is shit. But if the film can provide me with enough fun substance, I ain't gonna complain about some differences between it and the source material. Almost every movie deserves to be judged on their own merits. As their own separate movie. I'm okay with the Uncharted movie doing it's own different thing. I personally don't mind not having a complete rehash of the games' stories on the big-screen. People complain about the Lion King remake being too much like it's original counterpart but when a video game adaptation tries to be different while still retaining the spirit of it's material, they end up complaining even harder. What the fuck do people even want anymore?!?! At this point, I've completely given up on taking public opinions seriously if they keep getting this biased and flip-floppy.

They really didn’t do Uncharted justice with this movie. It was ok for what it was I guess, but just barely scratches the surface of what a true Uncharted film should be. It really could have been something special. Done properly I think Uncharted could be one of the greatest films in cinema. It’s a shame this movie didn’t live up to what we hoped for, unfortunately it fell pretty flat.
