Hello. This is why you sand between layers, then seal with Matte Sealer. It is actually not a rough finish when you do both those things! :)

Whats exactly cracked patina? Some kind of crackle medium?

It is a cracking medium, but quite a bit different than any "crackle" paint on the market. This goes in between layers of paint, and actually removes some of the paint by lifting it off. Rather than just cracking. Creates depth, and wear that truly looks like it wore off over time.
