5 Layer Tape Mod

Before you comment on the overlubed Backspace, it has been a couple of months since this was made, and the stabs have been broken in and are no longer mushy. I get too many comments about this, just know that Holee-Modded stabs take a while to break in, so please don’t bother telling me to ‘fix’ my Backspace, when there isn’t anything to fix after 4 months of using a keyboard. - Turboards

That is true, but with some keyboards adding 5 layers can give a mushy unwanted feel to your board, so imo, stick to 3 layers, just in case

Tbh in my opinion the change was really subtle. I might even go as far as to say that it was miniscule. I would just do PE foam mod. Difference is a lot more noticeable. I just like how marbly it sounds with PE foam

The outside keys were really helped by the tape for sure. I may be wrong but I feel like tape mod shows even more clear results on really empty metal keyboards and non-metal keyboards

I recommend trying it on lower end boards for presentation purposes, it also might help to use unlubed switches as it really makes the difference so much bigger.

You might be tone def but I can tell a difference 0:13 No Tape, 0:24 3 Layers, 0:36 5 Layers. More tape = Crispier sound, you can use time stamps to compare it.

Try mixing 2 or 3 layers of masking and one of insulated vinyl tape(electrical). It'll take a little of that tacky sound that barely remains. It isnt perfect, but with your already great lubing job and boars it'd sound sexy

Correct. Thinking about it in terms of a stringed instrument and the significant considerations made to design that shapes the sound to significant degrees. It's all about how vibration is handled from typing. Tune the switches for feel, tune the case for sound. Plate material combines both, I guess? Haha

I know that this is very subjective and that I have a different preference to most, but I found that I enjoyed the sound of no tape way more that the other 2. They just seemed to get higher and higher pitched which I didn’t like. Maybe that’s just me though.
