Being certified doesnt mean anything. I know plenty of “certified trainers” and they are clueless. Just bc someone can answer multiple choice questions and passes the tests doesnt mean they know what their doing.
@francoisstrength7 жыл бұрын
As a person immersed in training who has recently done his certification I have to say I was apphauled at the quality of information, quite frankly I see now why trainers have no clue.
@ebubekirbinici60317 жыл бұрын
still doesnt give these stupid tests the right to pass people just bc they can asnwer some multiple choice questions. the worst part is the trainers dont know any better bc they dont even apply anyting they learned to their own workouts.

I want to help people out there to keep themselves fit, as most of the people are prone to many dangerous diseases due to sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diet. But I don't know where to start... Since 13 till now (27) I've done muay thai & other martial arts. .ive learned alot of one on one work with many different people of ages, and sizes. After two interviews im on my last interview this week and its pretty much a "practical". Role play..obv going through goal planning, a workout and selling myself or the service..any tips or insight on how I should approach this! Ive done "general" fitness over the years, through what I learned in combat training, but working at a facility or starting off in the industry is a whole different wave!!..I hope this isnt to much!! Thanks again!

Dude, it's been over a month, I was worried you left KZbin. Thanks for the video man, I always listen to your Wednesday video every week when I'm driving home from work. I train for almost 12 hours straight every Wednesday and it's usually a good mental boost after a long day of training people to listen to the good, realistic, and often inspiring info you present. Were you just doing a temporary break, or are you done with the weekly uploads?
@JonStossel8 жыл бұрын
How to sell personal training To be honest, I'm not. Wednesday is by far my busiest day of the week, but it's not like I have anywhere near that many sessions every day. I also still work for someone else, and the large majority of my sessions are still 1-on-1, so I'm not making a lot of money. I don't feel like I'm mentally or organizationally ready to go out on my own yet, but I'm always striving to improve and want to get there eventually.
@JonStossel8 жыл бұрын
I actually took a bit to think over my response to this. I am entertaining the idea of going solo, it's my ultimate goal. I know that unless I go solo, my earnings cap as a trainer working at a gym isn't that high. I also work at 2 different gyms, one is a big box and the other is a small private place that only does one-on-one sessions and bootcamps. Right now though, I'm trying to buildup a steady client base, my base right now is inconsistent at best. it's taking a lot of time and work. I'd hope my clients like me, otherwise I would wonder why they would train with me.

Im 15, i started doing fitness from 8 years old with calistenics, when i got 12 i started bodybuilding and learning allot about the science behind bodybuilding, when now i train 17 people for free while being 15, but im bad in school so if i will get no diploma certification deos that mean i cant be a personal trainer?
@teamrgvbodybuilding17725 жыл бұрын
You can still be a trainer, but try getting your high school graduation at least. If you're training 17 people right now RECORD THEIR PROGRESS. Take before and after pics. I would suggest monthly progress pictures for your records. I made the mistake of doing so much for free for the first 2 years of my personal training, thinking I would get referrals from the people that made awesome transformations, but a lot of those referrals never contacted me and either went somewhere else or just weren't really serious about starting. So basically at this point I have no referrals and only a handful of people who I have progress documented from. If you have 17 people to have progress pics from in your client portfolio, you might he able to skip working at a commercial gym and go straight to being an independent trainer

Hey Jonathan im just getting into a personal training course over in the uk and just wanted some advice on differemt directions to go to , once im qualified as im totally aware of how it all works, with gyms etc and the cuts that they can take, and that its much better for me to work on my own, but would you say it is initially better to start of in the gym just to start the client base or do you think i could do so without that....??? and just market myself well??

For an aspiring PT with no certification what books or resources do you recommend for maximum knowledge?
@danielcalma21385 жыл бұрын
Just start doing research online and go from there bro. Google questions that you have and sift through the links for credible sources such ss peer reviewed articles and whatnot. I did that for a couple years before getting my certification and when i was studying the program there were where it would say something in the textbook and I would just say to myself "well I'm never using THAT in the field". And i was able to say that because I just did so juch research on my own and applied it to mine and my friends' workouts that I know what worked and what didn't. I mean, my knowledge is still immensely lacking as I've only been doing this for 2 1/2 years in depth, but you learn a lot fast when you constantly want to know more. So I'd say start there

Thanks for all of the great information as always. I have a question, Jonathan. How do you bridge the line between giving helpful information without giving away too much? I always find myself wanting to help people very thoroughly, almost to a fault. So much so, that it gets to the point that you give up so much information that the clients may not need you anymore. On a personal level this can be rewarding, but from a business aspect it may not be optimal. What's your stance on this?
@SIHIAIDIY8 жыл бұрын
Referring more towards once you have a client. I know that in your Dumbbells to Dollars course you talk about using that first week as an opportunity to sell yourself and show your value to the client, so it would be hard to cover everything in a week.
