Those are chicken backs. The two redish cavities in each one is where the "oyster" would be, which is the most coveted part of the thigh/back area and of the entire chicken. The backs are great for soups😊

I love your video subjects, and think they are a great resource for everybody - I would love to see you do one with a limited amount of ingredients....like a list of 5 items, or less, and the protein is something that was found on markdown. I tend to shop markdowns a lot and build my meal around that a few times a week :)

Once again you rock the Thrifted Food! I love your boys, they are just at that gorgeous stage before they go feral. And smelly. And silent. Before they return at 20. Got to love sons. Aren’t you and your husband so lucky to have three. Apart from feeding them… my MIL had three, then a late lamb when the youngest was 14. They all had hollow legs, poor woman spent 50% of her life feeding them. I LOVE your videos, looking forward to the next one. 😊

I know this was a challenge menu but i wanted to give folks a heads up on another way to stretch thier money . If you can find it in your area...i get a 10lb bag of leg quarters (the thigh and drumstick attached) for less than $7.00 a bag. Before inflation affected everything i'd see them for $4.90 a bag. Usually there's 11 or 12 in each bag. So, if you seperated them at the joint, that's 22 to 24 pieces of chicken. You can sepetate it into freezer bags for your family's needs and for a great price.
