Agreed. I’ve never even had a lucid dream. But following wbtb and imp I’ve had multiple moments where I feel heavy buzzing and some weird visions, but I’ve broken out of them out of excitement. Also I realize now for wbtb personally I should stay up 15 minutes instead of 20 minutes

I woke up last night to what looked faintly like the grim reaper standing over my bed. I thought this a dream, did a reality check and then realized it’s probably my mind playing tricks. Did another reality check a minute later because of how real it looked and yep was in a dream. Somehow even in that scene I remained calm and actually had my first dream with dream control, just telling you guys never stop questioning and don’t be lazy with your reality checks!

Great video, number 5 and 4 are so important! Keeping a dream journal is probably the most enjoyable part of my lucid dreaming practice so far, being able to clearly think back on dreams that happened weeks ago is such a great thing, as your dreams no longer feel lost to you after a few hours/days. And point 4 also makes the subject a lot more enjoyable, since you have an extra kind of incentive to have a consistent sleep cycle and such.

I haven't got anywhere near lucidity for two years. Two years ago I had a second knee replacement operation. It's been hard to recover from and I have chronic pain. I am also in my 70s. I really appreciate Daniel's honesty and sincerity. I know I can't force anything and my dream journal has got grumpy neglect. Thank you Daniel. I will try to get back on track. Hi Jane, sorry to hear about your struggle with pain, I can completely understand how difficult and overwhelming that can be (several of my friends and family suffer from these things). I wish you all the best with that. As for lucidity, I'm sure that will consistent effort you will see results, but it is important to prioritize your health over such things. That said, lucidity practice might act as a useful means to redirect attention and distract. These videos remind me of the method used by a professional cycling coach named Dave Brailsford, who did what he called "the aggregation of 1 percent improvements" to take a cycling team that had like 1 tour de france win in like 100 years to winning twice in 3 years, if I remember right it may have even been 3 times in four years. He took the team and changed many small things such as what type of pillow the athletes used, the way they washed their hands, and more to make a huge difference. These tips seem like fairly small things (except for dream journal) that can add up to make huge impacts on lucid dreaming success.

I can't believe this was the first Matrix reference! This was very interesting, as always. I think what I need to work on the most is not trying too hard. It's difficult to free myself from the mindset that if you want to get a good thing, you sure as heck have to work for it … There's always that little voice in my head that says: if you don't achieve your goals, you are not trying hard enough.

It does seem counter intuitive, but natural processes so often are. It's best to think about it more along the lines of other biological/psychological natural processes - such as getting a massage or performing yoga -- do you have to try hard to relax while getting a massage? (and would it help or hinder you if you did?) There are plenty of natural processes that require both skills but also relaxing/letting go to appreciate fully - I'll avoid mentioning the most obvious example ("even educated fleas do it") due to KZbin's rules, but once you switch to that natural "skill+letting go" mindset, it makes a lot more sense.

My dream journal directly caused me to have my 2nd lucid dreaming experience since discovering your channel. In my dream, there was a terrorist attack and I saw two rockets heading towards a tanker truck filled with gasoline. There was a giant explosion with a shockwave and I thought to myself "Wow. That was awesome! I need to make sure I write it in my dream journal." At that moment I realized I was dreaming. Unfortunately, I was only lucid for a very brief period. Only long enough to look at my hands and try to turn a doorknob in a hallway full of doors. I was aware that I was losing lucidity and I consciously watched everything go black before waking up.

Ok, so I’ve been making mistakes. I only dream journal 2-3 times a week. And I don’t always use the same medium to record. I’m just glad I’ve gotten to the point where I can “realize” I’m dreaming and jet pack on out of there, or “shift”aspects to where I’m not so scared. And I’m so thankful for those “tiny skills”. This is definitely a skill, and it takes time and commitment! But it’s soooo worth it!

I feel like that Matrix part at the beginning was sort of a punishment to last week where I said "you seem KIND OF from the Matrix". Regardless, did a reality check. I took notes again and they filled up a page and a half. This time I was actually writing in a journal (that I should actually use as a dream journal) instead of in my sketchbook so I can reflect on them easier than looking through sketches and trying to find undated notes. Mistakes 5 and 1 I am the most guilty of, 5 because I really don't have a dream journal and hadn't had one for the past 6 months or so. Mind you, that's in past tense, meaning I have been keeping track of my dreams more consistently recently. It started with me unintentionally writing down my dreams for 4 days and then thinking that I could do that when I wake up. While I would like to admit that I've been keeping up with it, I've been slacking the past 3-4 days because I just don't feel like writing down all the details (ironic how I say this and I write a whole novel for a comment which takes more time than the video itself). I still remember the dreams, but, I just have gotten into the habit of "I'll write it down later". But I do have an informal dream journal at least, so, progress! I did use to have a physical one but I would sketch parts of my dreams when writing them down, probably killing the inspiration to write down the dreams. For the 3rd mistake, I do naturally wake up in the middle of the night, anywhere between 1 hour in to 1 hour before I actually wake up. This happens at least 3-4 times a week and I've always leaned towards WBTB for this reason, but since it's a natural part of my sleep cycle, should I try to not use it? I mean, it has worked before, but, often I wake up and fall right back asleep, therefore I can't even really attempt it. Something to ponder I suppose. And for mistake 1. It is very easy to try too hard. I have a messed up sleep cycle (anywhere from 11pm-1am I fall asleep at and wake up around 7am-10am, needing a nap in the middle of the day) so, when I can't fall asleep, I put on guided meditations for shifting as they do hold promise of being great for WILDs (my strongest hypnagogia experience has been from one of these videos). I often find that during these, I'm trying too hard to get hypnagogia related to a dream scene I want, as I know it's possible, or, I get frustrated that I can't fall asleep or am uncomfortable. Coupled with a wondering mind that tells me to try and focus on falling asleep while also thinking about embarrassing things 6 years ago, it's no wonder that I try to hard. As for your "cure" to this, I understand this and it's really hard to put into words, but, if anyone doesn't understand, try and trick your mind that it doesn't matter if you get a lucid dream or not. Don't even focus on how amazing it may feel and just go into it with doing the techniques and don't expect anything. Great video. It's almost time for my afternoon nap (running on 5 hours of sleep currently) so, I'll stop typing this novel. Keep up the great work!

Daniel, I had this question for a while now. So my question is: Can u wake up from a lucid dream if u close your eyes for too long? I tried this and everytime I do this, I wake up. I had this problem too. When I get lucid in a dream, my eyes start to shut automatically. It feels like I'm on a rollercoaster and it's moving really fast. Sometime, I resist them and continue with the dream world. But alot of time these forces come over me and manages to close my eyes. When I open them again. Sometimes I be in the dream or snape back to reality. Is this normal? How can I over come this?(Btw I had only used Dild techniques to induce lucid dreams yet.)

It's likely you are just reaching the end of your REM cycle, and the dream is using this tactic to represent the fading of the dream. There have been many dreamers in history who have used closing their eyes to change the dream scenery. Personally I recommend avoiding closing one's eyes in a dream as there is always a risk that lowering visual input will increase the chances of waking.

Will this channel be consistent in producing somewhat “beginner content” going into the future or do you plan on adding more advanced topics in some videos down the line? Or is the plan to give as many people a basic knowledge on LD and then have everyone make their own discoveries? Also, is there a major difference between experts in lucid dreaming and novices that would make some topics “advanced”?

Of the 250+ videos on the channel (and the streams), there is already a reasonably wide selection between beginner and somewhat advanced topics. I generally make videos based on what people ask for, ideas that need to reach people, and what I enjoy making, so it will fluctuate depending on those factors. The more "advanced" subjective side of dreaming really can only be explored on a one-to-one basis, via tuition, as then you are dealing with the intricacies of each individual's psychology and lifestyle. The more objective advanced topics (the research, how to interpret a spectrogram, the neurochemistry of sleep etc.), will make an occasional appearance when they are relevant and of any meaningful use to those interested. I can't really say how the channel will evolve creatively, as that is always as much of a surprise to me as anyone else!

I have a couple of questions: If I wake up in REM does the REM sleep go by while I am awake or does it stop? I mean do I come back to sleep at that point of REM when I woke up or is that REM gone atfer some time? This question has been bugging me for a while. I mean I am not asleep so the REM cant continue but I am sure that after some time it should be lost. I think I forgot the other question. I will sk it next time.

Don't worry about natural awakenings, these are a part of your cycle and would not count as a WBTB. It is quite common for natural brief periods of wakefulness during the night - these often occur during or after a REM period.

Adsense needs to learn step #2, right before the video started got an ad for a blinking sleep mask with all the standard hype promises. Even had a montage of “kewl” experiences that wouldn’t look out of place in an ELD video (also Avatar for some reason?). On point number 1, would something like the counting method be considered trying to force lucidity? I’ve got a rubbish ability to replicated touch and muscle sensations so I defer to the counting method. While it has gotten me lucid quite a few times via DILD, I’ve never had a WILD or even experienced hypnagogia from it and I’m curious if pushing it too hard may be why.

Hey! I’m new around here and I want et to share a problem I have: whenever I realize that I’m dreaming I get a sort of instinctual fear that I have no way of controlling, and I wake up immediately. I’m pretty sure this is linked with some trauma I had with nightmare episodes in my younger days. I remember developing a kind of defense mechanism against my nightmares, which was me identifying very quickly that I was dreaming, and whenever I came to that conclusion I would wake up within milliseconds. I would appreciate if you can give me some advice, maybe you’ve met people with similar issues… At least one positive of this is that I’m very proficient at detecting when I’m dreaming.

I've had at least 70+ lucid dreams in 2021 but for some reason i just can't seem to have a vivid lucid dream. I know what a vivid lucid dream feels like because I've had 3 vivid lucid dreams before back in 2019 (i wasnt even trying to lucid dream) and they were amazing! I'm guessing it's my bad sleep schedule and/or nutrition. Any thoughts?

I think you may have answered your own question, it is likely that sleep schedule and nutrition are playing a role, and dream recall may relevant too. Certainly there is no harm trying to get your diet and sleep cycle back to a healthy state.

I was really thinking that my 3 weekly WBTBs had become nothing more than an annoying routine lately. The excitement of waking up at 4.30 was gone. Fine, I will WBTB twice a week then.

Today I was attempting to get a wild by counting technique but when I reached the hypagonic (sry for typo idk it's spelling ) stage I heard some noices and felt as if someone was entering the room. I knew it was all fake but I f***** up and woke up with high rate of heart beat, well freaking out is my mistake 😅

I have a question and you said you should put the cell phone close to your bed so you can turn off the alarm clock without getting up too fast to remember your dreams and that you should stay with your eyes closed for a short time and try to remember your dreams again. Now I have the problem that my head is not clear enough in the morning or I fall asleep too quickly and after the fifth time to press the snooze button the memories are extinguished. How am I supposed to handle this?

I mean, most of the time it feels like my body is doing it with the snooze button on its own until I get a fright of time and then have to hurry up.

Where did I say this? I generally advise to not use an alarm clock, or to keep the phone away from the bed. I think the only time I would suggest such a thing is if it is for a very specific technique, but it certainly wouldn't be something I'd recommend doing often.

@@trakxprod4772 It's okay, there were certainly a lot ideas explored in the 30 day videos (and some of them may have been unusual techniques that can be explored but are not standard advice) - but as a rule, it's not something I would recommend.

My biggest challenge with the dream journal is that I share a bed with my wife. So many of the instructions aren't a viable option. I narrating into my phone at the earliest opportunity most mornings however and my recall seems to be improving.

That depends on how you define "real". Are shifters travelling to other dimensions? No, this is complete fiction and contradicts all known science. Are shifters having an experience that feels like they are going to another dimension? Yes, although it is almost certainly a form of dream, similar to lucid dreaming.
