My best friend used to feature in my lucid dreams a LOT, and he was the most atypical dream character imaginable. He often told ME that it was a dream, and he liked to let me know if he thought it was boring or messed up. All in his typical sarcastic drawl that was so spot-on that I sometimes had to remind myself that it was not really him.

the dream control loop is so accurate. In my last long lucid dream, I was trying to make a place behind a door, but the door had a see-through glass window, so I could see the outside. When I opened the door it was unexpectedly unchanged. I tried a bunch of times until I lost lucidity.

The dream character is one I need to work on, with a caveat. It’s not regular dream characters, the vast majority of them I can ignore. It’s more a specific kind that pop up every now and again that act like “Yes, this is a lucid dream, and we’re here to watch”, or pull on specific social triggers. I’m also a little concerned about not staying still. To deal with my control issues, the last time I got lucid I tried moving to or creating a minimalist environment with no distractions to work on the fundamentals. That sounds like the vaccum you described that a dream would likely try to fill in. But most importantly: No warnings about mirrors or asking your dream characters how you’re going to die or other stuff nicked from a creepypasta forum? I feel cheated and call shenanigans!

Dang! I love how much you make me think! I still don’t feel totally lucid in my dreams, but I’m so thankful that you’ve taught me enough to realize I can just… I dunno the exact words, but I can feel things going “wrong” or “scary” and I can choose to make them better… and sometimes I wait and see how scary it might get, because I know I’ll be able to “choose my way” out of it… ugh! I wish I had better words! Mainly, I should do more reality checks when I think I’m awake!

Something I've always wanted to mention in my videos at some point is what you said...... Being to present or in the moment can leave a gap for the dream to take over and lead you into an unconscious normal dream. I've also fell into the trap of believing the dream characters are too real and therefore lost lucidity.. I tend to run or walk about doing the opposite from the wakened state of being (still) and keep thinking or even, reminding myself that I am dreaming by doing reality checks etc. Great video as always!

Great video! I'd say my main problems right now are #6, 5, and 4. #6 and 4 has to do with my habit of thinking about stability or waking up, whether in the dream or the process of dream formation in a WILD. I think the simple answer to that one is to just focus on what's going on as if those thoughts aren't there at all. I still struggle because it's become a habit and I need practice to get out of it. It often happens too quickly that it's too late by the time I remember to do this simple thing. Things work out when I think of it before it's too late. I think that's why I've been having better luck with WILDs when I manage to actually enter a lucid dream successfully and already know what I need to do. Don't let that habit form in the first place; it's hard to get out of! With #5, sometimes, forms of dream control don't work right away, but I've found it eventually will with repetition. With flying, it may take 2-5 tries before I end up in the air. I often go either too fast that I end up in the sky almost instantly and lost where I am (as I still want to be where I am, just flying about tree height), or slow that I touch the ground again and am no longer flying. That might be why it doesn't always work right away; just being too cautious to avoid those things. It somehow works much better in non-lucid dreams when flying as I'm unaware of the problems at the time. I may just need to increase my sense of distance to the sky because it's a lot more than what my dreams normally model.

Oh boy, I hope what you said about the like button is true. Maybe if I leave a comment I'll get two. Maybe a long comment could lead to omilucidity? Interesting video. I thought this video was going to go in a whole other direction at first, but, glad it didn't go where I thought it would. I will say, I've experienced less than what I thought I would have - only 7, 6, 5, 4, and 1 are ones I've encountered. It's probably because I'm a bit new. 6 is a warning to everyone - if you have bad expectations, they will play out in dreams. One night, I woke up from a short lucid and fell back asleep pretty quickly, however, I was worried about sleep paralysis. I fell back into a dream (same cycle, so, can't really say they were two different lucids) and, because I was so worried, I couldn't control my own thoughts about my fears and they started popping up in the dream. Another example I've had was from remembering some twaddle, which led to a dream character starting a fight with me. Luckily, my emotions were with me and I had control over myself and could do some cool stuff to not get hit. 4 I struggle with a lot, as I've "fought" to keep in the dream. It's like I'm either floating or falling and trying to grasp at the dream, only for everything to fade. I often panic and start trying harder, which doesn't help. 1 is also interesting as, in my longest lucid, I had difficulty with dream control at first. I went up to a dream character (who I called my subconscious) and asked why I couldn't control anything. He was playing around a bit, but, he basically said what Daniel said in this video - that I was in control and I just needed to relax a bit. After that, I fell out of lucidity before I regained it with more control. Hopefully I can take some stuff out of this video and use it tonight! Just a thought but, could "playing along" with believing dream characters are real people increase dream clarity? I'm drawing that from the belief that shifters think that they are in a different reality partly due from interacting with dream characters, meaning their experiences seem more real. Is there some way that this could help with the clarity of lucid dreaming? Great video as always!

I have a bad habit of "grasping" at the dream too when it feels like I'm getting pulled out of it. @DanielLoveOrg3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, dream characters are fascinating and there is a lot more to them than I can cover in a short section of a ten minute video. This particular point is designed to stop people losing lucidity due to a common error, but it is certainly not saying that dream characters are not worth investigating... this is a deep subject, KZbin videos really don't allow for enough depth and nuance.

Remembering that we are the controllers of our dreams is feeling a little buggy. Do you really can manifest what you want directly in every aspect and every time ? I think we can direct and give it a push to the dream in the direction we want but fully manifesting is not so easily possible. When we are lucid dreaming we give the directions to our unconsciousness and our unconsciousness does the manifesting part. What do you think ?
