@adJEKKTiv7 жыл бұрын
My intepretation of the ending of Liar Game: "It was just or fun, go home people." That wasn't satisfying in the stlightest.
@Dean.....7 жыл бұрын
My advice to you, stay the hell away from "Kamisama no Iutoori" & "Kamisama no Iutoori Ni" Shit pissed me off so much, entire thing was pointless by the ending. Also massive plothole and sequel bait. Someone needs to make a doujin of Acid Mana being brutally murdered, the little sadistic bitch is infuriating & she completely gets away with it. There's also Dead Tube, it's hilariously stupid and edgey as hell. I didn't get far into Darwin's Game but I suspect it was going to end up like some stupid harem. I don't even know what Aphorism is anymore. It started out as a survival game but it feels like the characters aren't really taking it seriously anymore and the genre changed. Either way, protagonist is awful so I'd avoid it. Actually now that I think about it, I hate the survival game genre in general. There's this other manga that I can't remember the name of. Nevermind, I found it "Imawa no Kuni no Alice" I didn't get too far into it so it might be worth reading. At least the characters aren't nearly as bad as anything mentioned above, unfortunately due to the way the manga sets up its games, eventually you will have to play a hearts game (you don't know what type of game you have to play until you get there, the difficulty and type of game is based on how high the number of the card is and what suit it is) that will most likely lead to most or all your teammates dying depending on the rules so I suspect every character the main protagonist teams up with won't last very long. edit: forgot to include Doubt (TONOGAI YOSHIKI) it's a short very shitty manga that has an ending that might piss you off. It also kind of feels like they tried to horribly ripoff the barcode idea from the first Zero Escape videogame 9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors which does it much better. On an unrelated note, I really wish March Story had a full translation, great artwork for a Korean Manhwa but only 4 chapters translated while the manhwa is 5 volumes long.
@DestroyedArkana7 жыл бұрын
Liar Game does drop off past the Musical Chairs game, but it's still an amazing read. Definitely check out One Outs from the same author as well. It still has a somewhat rushed ending, but very good none the less.
@Dean.....7 жыл бұрын
Just to note, One Outs is not a survival game. It's a gambling sports manga, and it's pretty good in my opinion. There's also an anime that gets decently far into the manga but you'd have to read the rest of the manga to know how it ends. Oh I guess Kaiji is a survival game? I mean the stakes are high but it doesn't really have the survival vibe to it, if you like gambling manga you can check that out. Kaiji is a bitch compared to Tokuchi Toua or Akagi. Akagi has an awful manga though, wouldn't recommend reading it, the series has been going on for 27 years and this mahjong game has *LITERALLY* been going on for over a decade (maybe even 2, I can't even remember at this point) and they're still playing the 1, COUNT IT, 1 mahjong game. Who the hell is buying the manga at this point? I don't know.

If you want an anime that has relatively good animation and artwork to compare to a highly detailed manga, most of the time you'd have to hope it would get a short ova or a movie. There are some cases depending on the studio where you will get a really good adaptation, but you need the right studio and budget for it. Unfortunately when I mention movies I of course don't mean American RL adaptations that butcher the story and absolutely destroy the ending *cough* edge of tomorrow (all you need is kill) *cough*

Doesn't have to be an anime(Fuk Berserk 2016). It can be a live action tv series, to be fair I don't know the Japanese audience for that type of medium. But I do know that Korean and Chinese history~medival-ish types of live action are very appealing to a well-established audience. No really, it's either Vinland Saga remains a manga, or we get Berserk 2016 2.0. A live action tv-series may not be a bad idea in my opinion. Japan honestly needs to broaden their marketing tactics and ways to express their stories.

Here are some more recommendations for you guys, I am not including Kingdom, Blame!, Vagabond, Dorohedoro, 21st Century Boys and other pretty popular ones because I believe these manga doesn't receive as many attention they deserve: Agharta EDEN: it's an Endless world Wolfsmund Front mission: Dog life & Dog style (yes this is one title) The Breaker Dungeon Meshi Plunderer Nobunaga no Chef I am a Hero Suicide Island (and check Holyland by the same author) Break Blade Historie Kurosagi Lucifer no Migite Freesia GUNNM (Known in the west as Battle Angel Alita) Chikyu no Hokago Sprite Imawa no kuni no Alice (Alice in Borderland in English) Mahou Gyoushounin Roma (Magical Peddler Roma) 3.3.7 Byooshi!! Ibara no Ou (King of Thorn) Hoozuki no Shima Higanjima Bokurano World Embryo That's all I can remember for now. Gonna update this frequently. And check out TheMuffinMan1894's recommendations down below!
@tonnytopster60107 жыл бұрын
More details about my recomendation: Agharta Set in apocalyptic future world with water as it centre of politics. Deep and really good reading EDEN: it's an Endless world Set in dystopian future where people turn into ashes or something, touch a pretty deep topic such as humanity and won't be a light read Wolfsmund Set in middle age Switzerland, this is one of those story with no main protagonist, each chapter got its own story and characters. And let's just say, not everything are as sweet as it supposed to be Front mission: Dog life & Dog style Set in futuristic war, this is just like Wolfsmund but with mecha The Breaker Set in modern age Murim (martial art world) in Korea. I think this is actually pretty popular but I also heard lots of people doesn't read this because this is a Manhwa Dungeon Meshi Set in medieval fantasy, about dwarf chef who goes to a dungeon and cook everything he can found, including giant walking mushroom and other gross stuff like that. A very fun read Plunderer By Minazuki Suu babyyyyyyyyyyyy. Set in fantasy world where every human live with number. And no, there is no pirate at all here Nobunaga no Chef A high class chef from modern Japan got send back in time to the Edo period, and now he has to cook to survive. Enjoy a delicious modern meals in a time when even soy sauce isn't even a staple yet I am a Hero Zombies, but with more realistic setting. At first anyway Suicide Island A group of suicidal people got send to a deserted island, and surprise surprise! They are now trying their best to stay alive. A pretty deep topic and beautifully written Break Blade Mecha in fantasy world, a really fun read. If you want to read this however, get ready for some NTR element Historie Set in ancient Greek, follow the story of Eumenes, a brilliant aristocrat kid who later grow up and become secretary of Alexander the great. A really good read especially if you love history Kurosagi Set in modern Japan, follow the story of a swindler who swindler other swindler because his family was swindled, or in other words, scammer who scam scammer cuz he was scammed. A really good and thrilling story. Also, there is actually a TV drama for this manga Lucifer no Migite A really deep story about a doctor who (forced to) killed other people and get a Lucifer tattoo on his right arm, thus the title (Right arm of Lucifer). He then fell into depression and call himself a murderer. One thing led to another make him want to safe life again. Very beautifully written imo, too bad there has been no english translation since 2015, at least not that I can found Freesia A pretty dark story about alternate japan where there is a law where you can legally kill other people if they kill your loved ones first. The story is about people who do the killing job. Full of psychological theme GUNNM/Battle Angel Alita Set in futuristic dystopian world, the story started when a cybernetic doctor found a intact head and brain of a female cyborg in a dump, the story then revolve around the amnestic female cyborg who named Alita. A really deep read Chikyu no Hokago (In English: Earth after school) Set in modern Japan when people start disappearing one by one by a mysterious phenomenon known as "Phantom". The story follow 4 survivors who accidentally met each other on a planet with possibly nobody else live in Sprite Set in modern Japan when the protagonist, together with everyone else inside a certain building got transported to another timeline after an earthquake and a mysterious dark snow. A really good reading full of psychological, mystery and horror, and I personally really recommend this one. Imawa no kuni no Alice Set in modern Japan when the protagonist and his friend fell unconscious after seeing a big firework. They woke up on a different world and soon found out that they have forced to become a participants of a death games. In which they will simply die if they try to leave. A really thrilling story full of psychological, mystery and horror, if you like Real Account in the video, then you might like this one. Mahou Gyoushounin Roma Set in modern Japan, a story of a mysterious girl who travel around while selling a magical items. The main protagonist of the story is the girl herself, but each chapter will introduce new characters with their own problem that will be helped by the girl. Who is she? Where is she from? How she got all those magical items? FIND OUT ON THE NEXT EPISODE OF DRAGON BALL Z. 337 Byooshi!! Set in modern Japan, follow the life story of our main protagonist, who love to cheer for others! But life isn't really sweet for him lately. And things goes even wilder when he got rip-off in a bar in Shinjuku and got chased by large homo dude. Oh and btw, have you ever in your life consider to work as a gigolo ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)? Ibara no Ou Set in alternative world where a deadly virus with no cure that can turn people into stone is infecting people worldwide. A certain "group" create a program where they select few people to be put on a cryostasis sleep until the cure is found. The main protagonist suddenly wake up from the sleep and find the lab to be in ruin, and crawling with monsters. A really good read with a twisted mystery behind everything. Hoozuki no Shima Set in modern Japan, in Hoozuki island. The story follow a sibling who lost their parent and send to the island to live and study there with 4 other kids around their age and 4 teachers. And apparently, there are "secrets" on the island that should never be found. From the same author Boku dake ga Inai Machi, Hoozuki island is a really thrilling read, with a kids as a protagonists and their "never trust adults" mindset. Higanjima Set in moderns Japan, follow the protagonist and his friends who went to an island called higanjima in search of his brother. Little did they know, that the people of the island are not what they suppose to be. Bokurano Set in modern Japan, the story of a group of kids who found a weird man in a cave who claim himself to be a game designer, he asked them if they want to play his game and sign a certain contract. Soon after, a giant robot appear! Cool huh? But what if the protagonists are actually in a certain "game" with a real casualty?A really thrilling read full of mystery. World Embryo Set in a modern Japan, when a deadly virus that can turn people into monster via phone is spreading among mankind. Only a certain group of people know about the existence of this monsters and fight them. An action manga full of mystery and deep plot, and a touch of bittersweet romance... actually a lot of bitter yet heartwarming moments.

I like Berserk and Vinland Saga, but I ended up dropping Kingdom. The MC is just so fucking frustrating and really kills the mood. He's in a bloody war and still has to preach his morals to others. Your life dream involves conquering everything and you're mad at a guy for having a village killed. Also don't like the ninja girl who's OP as hell because breathing. Really drags down the tension when one of your soldiers can take on a group of people easily. I'd still recommend others to read it even if they end up dropping it because it does start out strong and remains strong for a long time. It's just loses tension as it goes on.

Almost more interesting than the beginning of the manga was the wiki's reception and impact chapter about the manga. There seem to have been notable spikes in sales for specific wines in the asian market after beeing featured in the manga, going as far as the autors receiving two awards from the French government, after the publication of the french translation! Surprised about the impact one manga can have on other markets... might be interessting to make video compilation with more of those, if they aren't already out there.

Any asshat who still thinks manga and anime is 'cartoons for kids' and "why would any mature, grown-assed adult even be interested in it?" gets that first confrontation/fight scene at the playground shoved in their faces and made to read it so they will understand. Online the commujity is decently big, but I had yet to meet people at my areas cons and circles thag had even heard of it. My comment is kind of based on my experience, if anything.

I really Wish Pandora Hearts would get more attention. It's so good, but sadly not many really know of it.

Claire Farron it's just so confusing though... Especially if you also watched the anime. That opening though... BOKUUUUUUURA WAAAAAAAAA!

Yeah the anime wasn't that good in my opinion(have to agree about the opening though). But the manga explained everything from halfway through to the very end, and left not one string lose in a very complicated web that was Pandora Hearts story. I love that it's confusing at first only for everything to be explained later, and when you re-read it everything makes perfect sense, even the most random of things. For example the very creepy and weird dream Oz has in chapter 1, there was meaning behind that, and it was also very good foreshadowing to something reveal way later. I wish more people gave it a fair chance rather then go "this is confusing, and will probably never make sense. The mangaka has no idea what they're doing."(not saying you said that, but i have seen reviews like this.) It really makes me sad that not many give it the chance it deserves, because it truly is an amazing well put together story, with really great characters and art.

Fun fact: I read it at the library. They didn't have the whole collection, sadly (which is why I haven't finished the manga), but the fact they had many volumes of such an obscure series is pretty impressive imo. I think it's a very satisfying way to find mangas to read. I also found Psyren there
