Ayngelina, really enjoy your videos. Chochos are lupini beans. They are readily available in American supermarkets. My mother would sometimes add chochos to her encurtido de cebollas.
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
I did hear they were called thay in English but I've never seen it in Canada. Where did you grow up in the States?
@milewis33432 жыл бұрын
@@ayngelina Hi Ayngelina, I grew up in New Jersey, where there are many immigrants. Our next door neighbors, who were from Portugal, used to process their own lupini beans. Lipini are common in mrditerranean countries, and they're native to that region. Lupini are also native to the Andes, so they're traditional food there as well. The lupini in Ecuador are smaller compared to the large ones you can buy pickled in jars in the States. I really appreciate that you're interested in learning about the foods you eat. It comes out in your videos.
@ayngelina2 жыл бұрын
@@milewis3343 Oh I didn't know that about lupini beans, very cool! I really love exploring a country's food, it shares so much and then people comment and you learn even more! Thanks for teaching me that.

The Cotacachi market is open every day. I believe there's more activity on the weekends. I didn't know the drink was an oatmeal drink. I thought it was some type of juice. I didn't know the difference between the inside and outside food. I'll have to try the inside food. The round outside food booths open at night.

Yes we were told the cuy de colada was available Sunday morning but we had to go early. I was surprised by the quaker as the naranjilla really does make it seem like a fruit juice rather than oat. Now I want the recipe!
