what is the best travel time? Is it possible to have great weather in January? We are no surfers, so the waves are not important for us.
@ayngelina2 ай бұрын
We were there in September. North East Monsoon Season know as the Mala is October to Late January. They say the best time to visit the northeast is April to September. Southwest monsoon season is known as the Yala is from May to September. They say the best time to visit this region is December to March. The southwest is more popular for vacationers and we looked into it on the ground to see if maybe the monsoon season ended early but I think it ran solid through the end of September which is why we saw the northeast which is lesser known.

You have to DROWN the string hoppers in the gravy!! That's the best way to eat. Mix it up with your fingers like you were eating rice and add in bits of the curries but especially if you get 'kiri hodi' which is a coconut milk based light gravy, you HAVE to drown the string hoppers in it for the best flavour! I do the same with pittu as well. NEVER eaten it bare like that tbh... Always mix it up like your would rice. Only difference is that with string hoppers or pittu, I always need a LOT of gravy. Enjoy your stay here!!

Greetings from Toronto! Kithul is much lower on the glycemic index than maple syrup ie healthier. I heard there is an awesome sushi restaurant in Fernando’s Market. One of the reviews on Trip Advisor said it rivals sushi restaurants in Japan. That’s saying something. Did you guys try it?
@ayngelina4 ай бұрын
We didn’t try it but I wish I had now. I didn’t know that about kithul syrup, I hope they can find a way to preserve the tradition but I think it’s so much work for not a lot of profit so the younger generation isn’t as interested.

He does love it and he had no idea his resting face was so negative until people started making comments. He's a very laid back person and actually makes a lot of jokes, including many bad dad jokes but he can have a furrowed brow at times, which I think actually may signal a need for glasses but that's a different story. But he doesn't have the artificial smile people are so accustomed to on KZbin. I'm conflicted about it because the videos should be authentic and portray our life as it is rather than to be a performance.

I appreciate the response, I do see some serious issues with the rise of digital nomads and expats who aren't interested in the local community. However, I don't think you can say all, because there are also those of us who want to inspire people to learn more to local culture and contribute to the local economy. A lot of people don't visit the north and I think it's a mistake, it was the first area I visited and I think has such an important story to share.
