Idk if I would say people calling the 5th of the scale “the 5” lazy, I would in fact say that people who try to do music without really learning the fundamentals of theory are in fact the lazy ones. While it does attract many people to learn the shortcuts like chord codes, it doesn’t make them any more compatible to play with musicians in a realistic studio setting unfortunately.
