Mercari has been so slow for me! BUT, I have neglected the promoted listings and offers to likers so I need to get back on that. With the new changes I stopped offering free shipping on almost all items. I used to have really good sales on there! Your right about the listing and relisting! On Monday I listed 19 items and sold 7 that day! Great job on the video!

I’ve been thinking about dropping Mercari because sales are so inconsistent on there for me. I try and list more often than not, but I choose not to put everything on there bc of the higher shipping on items above a pound. Thank you for these suggestions - definitely going to try them! I've never had a sale via promoted listings! and this is the first group of people who I've ever heard that have. Very interesting. Sales have been virtually non existant from August until November 17th. Many are saying it's due to the buyer fees? I think it's the very high shipping costs.

I price things so low to start with, with all the offers and promotes and smart pricing the prices get so low so fast! You wouldn't promote the same items every day, right? New to Mercari after doing Poshmark for years and it's just...weird lol! Love your desk, beautiful table. Just subscribed!

Hey girl! So sorry for just now getting back to you...took about a month off from work and YT so just now catching up with comments I haven't replied to 😅 I would suggest starting your items higher, allowing for about 20%-30% negotiation room and room to lower or send offers 🎉 I definitely do not promote same day...if an item is getting some traction, I will send an offer out the next day and typically promote a day after the offer expires if no one accepts. I will promote items that have lots likes and/or views...sometimes the price might need to come down a hair or two to meet a filter that someone is looking for. Hahaha I hear ya girl, posh and mercari are very different. As long as you're doing something on mercari on a daily basis, the algorithm seems to be happy and pushes your items out more. Thank you!!! Thanks for the tip of not setting the Smart Price at the lowest right away. I've been a little frustrated that I can't figure out how it works. Some items it drops it super fast, others at a more reasonable drop. It has been driving me batty.

You’re so welcome 🤗 yeah it’s like a combo of how much attention it’s getting and it triggers mercari to lower with their updates (or at least that’s how they explained it when it first came out) 🤷‍♀️ LOL I’ve just learned to be conservative with it. @@EssentialEndeavours That does seem to match what I am experiencing. I think I will try a similar approach. Most of the stuff I am selling right now are things from my own house. I tend to price kind of high at first because the listing is my first step of seeing how willing I am to let go of it. Unlike a reseller, I don't necessarily want it gone right away. Usually once it is listed, I am good and don't feel so attached. But some of those fast dropping prices did give me a little anxiety. HA! It is always interesting the feelings that are associated to things and money. Anyhow thanks again for sharing your tips. I'm glad I recently found your channel. Eureka! I found you & subscribed! (& found some great tips for selling on Mercari - Thanks!) I’ve had inconsistent success since I started selling about 10-12 months ago. Fascinating to me (I’m a geek, I know!) how some brands hold their resale value, & others instantly depreciate just like driving a brand new truck out of the dealership! You’ve probably already discovered this Mercari notification tip, but wanted to mention since you raised the point in this video.... Re: Notification when someone likes your item: -In the Mercari app on iPhone -Profile page - Settings - Notifications - Scroll down to “Messages for sellers” - Turn on push and/or email notification for when someone likes your item (Also an option to turn on notification for when someone begins following you) I’ve only resold on Mercari, & only from my iPhone, so not sure what the desktop notifications for seller options are. Btw - not on social media either (thank goodness!) Kudos 2u !

Thank you for the content. Do you experience toxic buyers? Returning item's, returning damaged or other problems that would make it hard for people to profit flipping game consoles?

I've never had any toxic buyers on Mercari! Their return policy really helps to keep those people at bay! If you do sell something that isn't as described and they provide pictures then they may approve a return, or the buyer/seller can agree to a return if something got messed up. I think you would do very well flipping anything regarding video games or consoles!

I have considered checking out Mercari , so now I will with your link. Just a question and thought: First, just my annoying desire to geek on things randomly, and I talk way too much sometimes. : Does it help your algorithm for people to save your video? I am interested in how that works, if it is as valuable as a share, if it helps only when it is watched again, or if that even counts. NOW, 🥴 the reason I ask is because if it does help, there are certain videos where you have content that maybe a subscriber doesn’t realize that the particular tips you are sharing will become very important when they get a little further on their journey as a reseller. I find it really helpful to save really good videos on shipping or EBay or other websites just in case I need that info again, I will quickly be able to find it. So if it helps your algorithm, maybe you could mention, “Hey guys, whether you know it or not, you will want to save this to a playlist, because I am about to give you information you really need, or will really need once you get into reselling. “ Just saying. As a subscriber, it is useful to me to save them. K, bye!

How do you know how much to charge for the shipping? Do you have to have a printer to print the shipping label? Do you have to drop everything in person at post office or UPS/FEDEX? Or do you schedule a pick up withe shipping company? Thank you so much for this video!

I used to weigh every item in the beginning but now I typically know what stuff weighs so I guesstimate 🤗 but if you’re starting off I would get a scale! Make sure to weigh it in its final packaging (I always use polymailers for the most part so they weigh less than an ounce so I can just add that to the weight of the item) 🤗 I use a dymo printer! One of my popular videos goes over a dymo vs printer so you can decide if a thermal printer is a good option for you 🤷‍♀️

Yes I drop off everything personally, but you CAN order pickup. In fact most of my reseller friends get their packages picked up at their home 🤗

My local Walgreens is a drop point for FedEx and my local CVS is a drop point for UPS. You just have to print the labels. My favorite shipper is my local USPS for a pound or less. I take it to the counter and have them scan the QR code and they print the label. You can also schedule a pickup but I am close to my P.O. and they are GREAT! Buy a $20.00 scale and weigh the package complete with the item for listing. If you are charging $12.00 for less than a pound item the buyer may move to the next seller who has the right freight charge. The most important part of the sale is packing and shipping the item(s) in a timely manner. Pack a $10.00 sale like you would a $100.00 sale. In sales training several years ago, I was taught to always promise less and deliver more! This is a GREAT channel! Glad I found it tonight!

How do I box clothes and DVDs for Mercari, eBay, and Poshmark? I have had bad luck on selling clothes. Also, where do I get boxes?

You can use any old Amazon box! Recycle as much as you can 🤗 USPS has strict guidelines for what you can use with their free boxes. I use polymailers and wrap any breakables and use clear bags for clothing 🎉

I’d agree on promotion times. I get most of my sales overnight. What’s a rough number of sales you are getting per day? Yes I don’t know why I don’t get all notifications for ‘likes’ & ‘sales’ ! Weird. Do you have any tips on when something sales of any quicker way to remove it off of eBay/FB Marketplace? Hope I don’t forget to remove something, but is a pain. Also worth it to cross post so definitely at a cross road.

So sorry I am just now seeing your comment it went to my spam for some reason 😭 I get on average about a sale a day on each platform right now as a part timer. I only dedicate about 20 hours a week to my reselling business. Yeah I don't know why I don't get all the notifications either, it's very strange. I always manually deactivate my listings on the other platforms when they sell. Vendoo does have a quick delist feature though so it's all in one place 😊 I also cross post everything! I feel like it's working well for me right now

I just sold a pretty expensive item on the app, but i’m nervous to send it out because of Mercari’s money policy, they don’t give you the money until you ship the item out and the buyer enjoys the item. What if the buyer tricks the system and says the item isn’t how it’s described? what would happen?

You have to send the item out and their system has tracking so you’ll know when it arrives to the buyer. They get 3 days to rate you and you rate them and funds are released. If they never do then Mercari auto gives you 5 stars 🤗 mercari rarely allows returns lol if you sold jeans and you said there was no stains and the whole back side has stains and the person shows pictures, then mercari will approve the return and they pay for it 🤗 that has happened like 0.2% of the time for me on Mercari. They have a good policy! Best of luck 🤗

When you like an item on Mercari does it show the seller “who liked it” or just the amount of liker’s?

Yes it shows the seller the amount of people that liked it and then you can go into the listing and see all the usernames if you want 🤗

What about when you list one of your items and it doesn’t show up in the recently updated on the brand you put it under? Mine just started doing that this week and I emailed Mercari but basically no one is seeing my listings because when I do a new one it does not go to the recently updated in the search bar.

I have a question on the Promoted Listings. Once you drop the price 5% for the promoted listing, that reduced price for that item is only for that one day, correct? Does Mercari allow a seller to promote that same item again the next day? or as much as you want?

Yes you can promote the item once every 24 hours :) you get 10 free promoted listings a day though. It reduces the price by 5% but you can go in later and increase if needed :)

I just wonder: is ther any Mercari terms/deadlines for item delivery after payment is recieved likely 3-5 or 10 days? -How much time do seller has to upload tracking number after payment recieved, 1, 2 or 3 days etc.? -What carrier tracking Mercari accept/recognize: UPS, Fedex, USPS and others like Ebay or only UPS, Fedex, USPS ? -If ship/fulfill order outside US , for instance China to USA or EU to USA, does Mercari accept ups or usps traking that shows for instance Berlin-New york UPS/USPS tracking info or Shanghai -New ork UPS/USPS tracking info?
