I'm an empty-nester now, but back when I had kids in the house and my husband and I both worked full-time outside the house, I really struggled keeping up with household chores. I'd find myself just procrastinating EVERYTHING. I got tired enough of my house being a mess that I started timing myself on how long it took me to do the things I had to do most often - laundry, dishes, and floors. Once I realized that it only took an average of 8 minutes to rotate laundry loads, and then fold/hang/put away what had been in the dryer, that helped me to end the procrastinating. Even tired from working all day, I could handle 8 minutes of laundry or 12 minutes of dishes.

Omg, when Peace moved her back toward Hope to get dressed in the purple dress, my heart melted. How cute. She is so smart at such a tender age.Tori reminded me so much of Nyanya. She really is a copy of her granny. I hope Tori and Eli recover fast. Lemon with warm water and a pinch of salt does wonders for my kids fevers and colds. It even made them recover from chicken pox in two days.

We had a child who would put their clean laundry in the dirty hamper. So, at 8 years old they started doing their own laundry (some supervision required). It worked so well that I taught my other kids at 8 years old as well. It really frees up my time. We did have to assign each a specific day for their laundry.

My oldest was 9 when I got hit with an illness that baffled doctors for a year. Mornings were my worst time, and the rest of the day was spent recovering from my morning ( obstructive sleep apnea cured by nasal surgery). She basically kept the laundry up for our family of six by doing one or two loads a day. One day a week I would put on a movie or cartoon and we would all fold clothes. Now, my three oldest rotate through laundry chores. They do kid laundry or towels everyday. Even my seven year old son does laundry now!

I have a suggestion for you Sarah. When you build your new house, consider putting in clothes lines to hang out your clothes in nice weather. They smell wonderful! Especially your sheets! Also, consider putting in double ovens with a warming drawer. You can proof your bread in the warming drawer and keep food warm for your older kids who are working etc. The extra oven space is life changing!!

I like how you said you'll need to get used to the trees/branches falling now that you have a property with a lot of them. I bought 2.5 acres 2 years ago and had to learn how to use a chainsaw because even a windy rain storm causes some pretty big branches and trees to fall, every time, every season. Heavy snow is worse. I am a single mom of three - the key and true skill was learning where to cut the fallen tree/branch so it doesn't kickback and knock the chainsaw out of your hands... the actually cutting is very satisfying lol.

Solo, as you do regular tree removal of dead trees on the property, they other healthy trees will flourish. This way less healthy trees will succumb to the intense wind and rains. I suggest reserve a day once every other month to ride the property, mark with spray paint trees that should be cut down, dead, leaning or just plain questionable and remove. This practice really helps. It also is a safety concern with children who may climb tress that are not healthy.

Once you have the one loaf a day down (per starter / the amount of bread probably will go down to a max of 2 loafs a day), you will not have to think about it any more. Also, you can prepare Lisa's bread recipe and pop it in the fridge for up to 5 or 6 days. So you can bake one loaf daily and not have to think too hard/at all 😊 Also there she has so many cool shortcuts 🤫

To clean the freezer quicker empty the entire freezer contents into coolers. While doing that, boil 2 or 3 pots of water. Rotate the pots of water. In a short time the ice will begin to fall off the shelves. When it's all thawed out, wipe things out and replace the contents. It shouldn't take more than hour.

Have you ever considered hang drying your clothes? I started doing that last summer, because our dryer at the time was pretty old and dried our clothes slower than drying them outside. I have really gotten into doing that this summer and wow! It saves a lot of money, your clothes smell better, and I personally think it makes your clothes look better too! It’s so satisfying drying clothes outside. It makes me feel more accomplished and I like laundry a lot more now too. It helps keep me on top of the laundry and I just really like it😊

I too have a small space, with a laundry area inside a half bath downstairs. I am not a fan at all. But, it’s what we have. I use some of the same tactics. I fold right there in the bathroom. My 16 year old does his own laundry. Started at 15. My 19 year old is autistic, and he’s learning just in the last few months how to do laundry on his own. That’s the last chore they learn here, because I found it frustrating to teach them when they were younger. Thankfully, everyone in my family of 4 knows how to do every other chore well! Whew! 😊 A tip that works for us: I have a post it on the wall at the bottom of the stairs that says “hamper here?, please bring upstairs.” This is for those heavy loads I cannot carry upstairs. Towels or sheets, or a particularly large loads.

I am so excited you started the sourdough journey! It’s so much fun! I’ve been obsessed with it for a few years now! Have an amazing time and keep sharing those recipes. I’ll be making that discard pizza tonight! :)

I love watching because Sarah shows us real life. But with the crust I'm wondering if the sogginess would he better if you pre-cook the crust. Not fully cook but enough where the sogginess might not happen. Try it, it would be a nice experiment🤷‍♀️

Child locks work great on freezers, an extra step and reminder to make sure the door doesn’t accidentally get left open.
