Thanks so much for coming back to us with this solution for when one's mitre saw doesn't cut to 54 degrees (like mine). Also , I watched your first video several times times before I figured out what the proper length of each arm of the star should be. Fortunately, I, too, was using scrap wood for practice. Your second video clears up the question of the length of the arms.

I have 4 toggle clamps unused because I built a T track saw guide, and I bought another T track clamps and stabilizers instead.

That really steep angle I think comes in on those really steep roofs. Anything with long tight angles.

dust cover idea/ suggestion why dont you use an old sock pulled over the motor housing to stop dust getting into the internal motor works and thus protecting them from contamination

The cutting angles on a miter saw are different from the angles you would see using a protractor. When you set your saw to 54 degrees you are actually cutting a 36 degree point.

You forgot one option if the saw does not go to to 54°. Purchase a new saw. Lol
