Here is what I understand. I wanted to double confirm if this is correct because I just finished building my saw guide, and ready for my projects. 1. Cut 3 pieces 45 degrees parallel wood at 9 inches long. 2. Measure the wide of the wood piece. 3. Cut all the 3 wood pieces at 31.5 degrees on the other sides. 4. Take 5 pieces of the diamonds shape wood pieces and assemble together.
@cedarriverwoodworking25 күн бұрын
Yea that's about right

I like the 54 degree better, just because it is true to form. There are jigs that you can make that will allow your saw to cut angles further than it is capable of doing. That said, the 45 degree start is super simple to make and looks great. I think I would stain or paint the star prior to putting the chamfers in. I think that would make a great contrast and accent.
@cedarriverwoodworking5 ай бұрын
I am particularly fond of the painted star that i made at 54 degrees. Absolutely there are jigs to help cut larger angles, I actually have a video on it.

Tried making a star this way. Wasn't coming out quite right. Watched the video for the third time and it occurred to me I set my saw to the left (I'm left handed, lol) 45 degree angle. Probably either way would work but I guess I like to do things backwards the first try.

Thanks for a great video. I actually think I can do this. LOL My Harbor Freight saw only goes to 45 degrees. I have a pocket hole jig, but it just seems like overkill. Is there a reason why just glue would not work? Is 35 degrees better for the second cuts? Not sure I could lock in 35 when my detention is 36.5. Anyway, thanks for the great video.

@cedarriverwoodworking2 ай бұрын
I discus that when i'm setting up the stopblock at 5:43. It's captured on 2 sides and has continuous pressure. The point isn't given the chance to rotate and cause a kickback. you can absolutely wait until the blade stops if that makes you feel more comfortable. ALSO i continue to hold the piece down.
