@@KingRobRool it may have been bias on my part for the weapon, but the pacing and amount of information u were able to convey as well as the gameplay for this one was better than the previous so that may just be a practice thing. I also think you were really able to get some more cinematic gameplay just cause the sword and shield is really versatile.

You forgot to mention one very important thing that you can use items with sword and shield without sheathing the weapon, and during this move your character also would have higher movement speed than using item without weapon. This feature is extremely useful for new players, because it allows you to heal without significant maneuvering penalty.

Good content. And I feel the urge to add a bit of advice and warning: Backhop can be preformed after pretty much any moves, which include roll and block, backhop after roll give you more i-frames, after block is the fastest to perform out of neutral Perfect Rush is no longer in its full Iceborne glory form, now it's more of a niche move used mostly when the monster is down (motion value was more like iceborne's pre-buff Perfect Rush) The foward AAA can link up with the (X+A) finisher, it's the most sharpness effecient combo for sns It's a good beginner on paper, but do be warned the shear amount of options can be overwheiming at time, and you can easily find yourself get caught overcommitting when button smashing in close range, as a cost of sns' versatility.

The hunter's notes can be pretty vague sometimes. Like, it will tell you you can perform certain attacks following specific inputs or while in a specific stance, but not how to perform the actual attack. It'll be like "you can perform a 360 Kickflip Slash after a backstep," but that attack isn't listed anywhere in the hunter's notes. Maybe because it's part of an unlisted combo or something, I don't know. Point is, I have no idea what the blue flash effect does when I block and press B (on Xbox) to attack. It looks like some kind of special parry, but I haven't figured out yet how it works.

Sword and board. Versatile, reliable, elegant, and scientifically proven to make whoever uses it have a pepe the size of a hose. While you don't have the luxury of using items with the weapon out like you did in world or the diverse array of oils from earlier games, you still have the fundamental the weapon has allways had. A metal poker with a supplementary small wall of metal that can be used to give monsters brain trauma without the need of a hammer or hunting horn albeit at a lesser pace. The block while not as good of a defensive option as some other shield bearing weapons, can be used in a pinch and the mitsu is a dedicated "no you" button that rewards mastery of timing and learning your monsters well. The sunbreak addition of destroyer oil gives me nostalgia for the old days of lubing up my beating stick before inflicting grievous bodily harm. 100/10, best weapon, sword and board for God emperor of the world.

Y’know, I’ve played a few Monster Hunter games in my time. I started off on the PS2 but then quickly switched to MHFU. During my time with FU, I had a simple philosophy: “bruh, why would I play Monster Hunter just to use a weapon that wasn’t three times as big as me?” So, I tried out all the big “gigachad” weapons and ended up sticking with gunlance. After Rise went on sale on Steam for 15 bucks, I quickly snatched it up, happy that I’d finally be able to play Monster Hunter with my friends. Along with actually good camera controls and the ability to run on my rinky dink laptop, Rise also came with a lot of new toys that I couldn’t even think of using on my ancient PSP. But all of those new weapons I tried were missing… something. I was looking for a fast blunt that took some actual skill to use, but everywhere I turned, I was met with something that almost met the mark. I tried hammer, but that was too repetitive for me. Just bonk head. Then, I realized that charge blade wasn’t even all that difficult. I liked the SAED, if that’s what it’s called, but while charge blade had the capabilities of KOs AND cutting off tails (BIG win in my book), the gameplay loop was just as repetitive as hammer. Hit thing, charge shield, hit thing more, charge axe, chainsaw man reference, hit head big damage and sparks, repeat. I was also made aware that gunlance’s wyrmstake cannon could deal KO damage if your shot type was wide, but in all my time playing, I’ve never got around to crafting one of those. But one day, I was watching these guides out of boredom, and that’s when I found that the shield on SnS was basically a punch that did KO damage! I’m now at the start of my religious SnS journey. Granted, I didn’t start until I was high rank, but I had some spare monster materials lying about and was able to catch up pretty quickly. SnS SOLVES the formula, man! The problem with things like CB, SA, and all those other weapons is that they follow a set pattern. You can’t deal the fun damage until you do your chores and deal the set up damage. Want KOs on CB? Gotta store those phials first. How about those awesome climby-explodey attacks on SA? You gotta amp up first. But on SnS, you can deal cutting damage OR blunt damage literally whenever you want! The gameplay is so much more dynamic because you’re no longer targeting just one part of the monster! All you have to do to go from hammer gamer to dual blades gamer is slightly shift your hand on the controller, it’s so good! To hell with phials and amping up and charging attacks and reloadin- okay, I actually still really like gunlance, but still. SnS is where it’s at! Those stereotypes for SnS players is 100% true: they’ve mained many, many weapons in their day and went full circle back to the SnS. Trust me. It happened to me.

As a dual blade user in World the SNS looks a bit more complex to pick up and play than them. With DB you mostly just have to manage stamina and you're good. The combos are pretty straight forward too and you already know which one to do depending on situation since there's really only a small handful of things to choose from. I do want to use the SNS when Rise comes to xbox though. I know you said the shield wasn't very good defensively, but I wonder if I had max Guard skill would I be able to take heavy hits with it? Is there still moves that can break through at that point? I just like the idea of using the shield defensively.
@KingRobRool
@KingRobRool 2 жыл бұрын
The guard can be used to take hits for sure but it won't tank them like Lance etc. You will always get a knock back effect occur. It's honestly better to learn how to backhop or use counters than guard but it's still totally up to you.
