Good morning Dan and pain-free you community. I so needed this video today. Went into a major panic attack about a particular symptom that seems to be getting worse. Even thought of going back to the doctor for more tests. Really went down the rabbit hole around 4 AM this morning. I get too caught up in my emotions and I do need to put a time limit on it. I HAVE made so much progress from where I was this time last year. Love to all. We got this!

I am doing everything you taught me and it is not easy. Maybe i put to much pressure on myself but then again i dont know. The one thing i do know is staying calm and dont freak out. Great video. Today I got to my dentist appointment. Apprehensive re anaesthetic as I have had traumatic reaction before. Dentist said she'd use non adrenaline one( I laughed and said yes, thats good, cos I've plenty of my own 😂) 35mins into procedure, panic rising & I thought I'd be getting up and running but great dentist helped me to calmness. Back for one more filling in a month. At £500 for two white fillings I'm glad that's all I need. Anyhow know I'm"blessed". Feeling pleased I've taken another hurdle in convincing my brain we're safe. Re read the book Dare by Barry McDonagh (that you recommended for anxiety) I downloaded the audio 7day "treatment"pod too. Thanks for helping me navigate getting my life back. Truly appreciate x

Thank you Dan for reminding me of stuff I taught people 30 years ago. But often neglect to do. I feel emotions. But it’s very high. I think if I had just one friend. To share. It would be very cathartic. My husband is one who never even considers what ifs. Where’s I worry about. Can I. So a lot of emotions. Been a bad year so far with health and now health anxiety. But thank you for reminding me to get back to my “walk away” practice. Cos I’d forgotten. Chilly here. Enjoy the warmth. 😊

I get these heart skips that I physically feel ... sometimes like 10 a minute. I'm new to your channel and your paid monthly mentorship. My question is... these are so intrusive (yet harmless the doctors say)... how can I only pay attention to them for 5 minutes when it happens all day when I'm having them. Thanks for your time and looking forward to healing!
@KCH2020-q6c
@KCH2020-q6c Жыл бұрын
I have symptoms that last all day, very intrusive, but I think what he is saying is the emotion your are feeling. Focus for five minutes on what you feel about the symptoms. Let them process. Over time the symptoms will lessen as you deal with the emotion and are curious not fearful about what you feel.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou Жыл бұрын
The 5 minute time limit is for our emotional reaction to what's going on. We WILL notice the symptoms all day. Symptoms are designed to get our attention. The key is to allow the emotional response for 5 minutes. Then, if you notice the symptoms, do your best not to get lost in the story of why the symptoms scare us or upset us so.

Mind is *trying* to tell me untrue stuff but aware it's not true whilst still experiencing symptoms & getting up & getting on. Lots more reassuring thoughts coming in to teach brain I am safe. Will allow emotions if they need to come out for 5 mins. Love to be at indifference...but trusting in the learning process. Love you too.💕

So I’ve had a thought for a really long time and never asked in the comments on these videos but could gaining and not losing weight despite diet and exercise be another manifestation of TMS? I know digestive issues are but I’ve found over the years during incredibly stressful or upsetting times I will gain A LOT of weight and can’t lose it despite exercise and changing how I eat and then when things settle and I’m happy and calm again the weight comes off, almost without much effort. This time around I had weight gain and chronic pain because I’ve been in an extended period of tough times but I’ve managed to calm the pain but somehow the weight gain thing is still going…can that be stress or TMS too? It produces a ton of feelings of despair and hopelessness that I’m always going to be this way and never get back to a healthy weight which I think just keeps the cycle going. Just wondering if this is all related because I’ve seen a pattern over the years and trying to connect the dots
@Inge508
@Inge508 Жыл бұрын
Hi. I read an article about that kind of ‘ problem ‘.. when people have high stress levels, the adrenals get overworked and exhausted and the consequence is weight gain through an excess of cortisol that’s in the bloodstream.. once stress lowers, cortisol normalizes and the metabolism starts to function well again .. so you lose weight..
@massagepublications
@massagepublications Жыл бұрын
Danielle - I have the same problem and I agree with what Inge said. I’ve always had a tendency to gain weight, and despite the fact that with all the symptoms, I have a very low appetite I still am having problems losing weight. I think when we’re all on high alert our cortisol levels do go up and it’s probably a way of our brain protecting us by putting on the pounds. I know it sucks but, you are beautiful just the way you are.❤

Hi Dan, thank you so much for this video. I am a HSP so am always feeling my emotions quite deeply. Just a quick question. If for example the emotion i am feeling is sadness and I have allowed the 5min time limit to feel sad. What do I do if it pops back up hours later. Do i repeat the process? 🤔 Or do I acknowledge that I have already felt the emotion and divert my attention?

The idea sounds great but letting the anger and frustration come up and be there for 5 minutes then getting on with the rest of the day just doesn't work. 5 minutes, leads to 10 minutes, leads to an hour, leads to being fed up and angry about the situation and the limiting symptoms all day.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou Жыл бұрын
The only reason emotions stick around is because we get caught up in the story behind the symptoms. Rumination creates the emotions over and over again. Yes, symptoms are there, but we can choose to respond differently.

@@PainFreeYou The thing is, not all of my symptoms are reversible. Such as a throat cartilage/swallowing issue. Which causes constant tension on the neck and throat. Even the other symptoms, there's no evidence to say they are reversible so no it's not easier to be less frustrated. I'm not fearful of the symptoms at all. I'm extremely fed and and peed off with them. Some of which I'm stuck with. How can I overcome this issue to relieve my general symptoms when I have some things that are truly mechanically abnormal and have no chance of going away.
@PainFreeYou
@PainFreeYou Жыл бұрын
@@Fresh-qc3zn the physical structure is what it is. There is no debate. But should cartilage cause the muscle tension and pain to the degree you are experiencing? Perhaps the muscle tension and pain is the RESULT of the brain perceiving you have a messed up throat and not the cause of the issue. Perceived danger, in my opinion, is the cause. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qp-4Z354dttonMk
