Being an artist and musician, but not an industry guy I feel like creating for yourself and letting your idea’s flourish without the fear of judgement is more of the key to satisfaction in your creative process. Having done art and music under contract or commission work in the past I see the frustration of trying to satisfy the client. The changes, deadlines and visions that conflict with your own process of creation makes it feel more like a job or production rather than an extension of your artistic approach. It can be a burn out and make you lose interest in what has become your own passion. I prefer to remain a hobbyist leaving room for the process, experimentation and creativity.
