@@toragon2736 What I would recommend is to not wonder trade for *really* good mons too early, because then you won't learn all the skills needed to get past new challenges. Garchomp is a pokemon people like to throw on wondertrade, and probably the biggest red flag regarding this issue. People trade for a garchomp at gym 5, power through 4 gyms, and then end up completely lost because they were just getting carried by a garchomp learning nothing while the game gets increasingly harder and harder.

@@MisterEcks ohhhhh so u mean players take garchomp but then they forget to learn how the game works because of garchomp carries ur team Also how does wonder trade work Also there is nothing wrong in getting garchomp right i mean getting him if fine but as long as we don't use him like our main support for the story it's is good right ?

A couple things I learned: Bulky mons are extremely strong in this game especially, because most difficult fights have teams constructed around a certain terrain, boosting their attacks. Having things that can actually eat those hits is very nice, as well as moves like iron defense, amnesia, and cosmic power. Using hyper offense is pretty good too, but it can be hard to out-offense pre-made, terrain boosted teams with your limited selection of mons. Another thing: USE SEEDS. They make some difficult battles trivial. An example is Charlotte. Her gym battle has always been really hard bc of her offensive power in doubles. If you get something with moxie and a spread move like eq or rock slide and give it the seed for the burning field, you get a speed and attack boost and sweep on the spot. They're broken. Nature power is amazing. Especially early-mid game. I had it on my Rowlett and was using terrain boosted wood hammers and gear grinds extremely early into the game. It's amazing, use it. I know it was briefly mentioned in the vid, but hidden items are everywhere. Literally, if you're in any given area, you'll probably find at least an item or two.

A couple things I'd like to add: Basically an extension to point 4: don't stick to a set team for the sake of it. From my experience, this doesn't get you very far. If you get stuck or struggle more than you should, maybe it's about time to say goodbye to that one mon that just doesn't cut it anymore - certain mons are designed for early game and meant to be replaced eventually, like early bugs, Rattata (Alolan Raticate actually slaps in Rejuv), Spearow and basically any mon that doesn't evolve - Pachirisu in both games is a good example, as it will become useless in about three gyms but will help carry the early game. These two games require a certain level of flexibilty that official games don't. If you can't get through a major battle, there is no shame in catching a 'one-hit wonder' mon just for that battle (in Rejuv v12 I had to grind a Rockruff from like lvl 17 to face Angie just from wild encounters because my team was not suited for her) - on that note, catch everything that crosses your path. Good or not, it might come in handy. Also looking at what mons are available in the immediate vicinity of the major battle might help - I have noticed that Rejuvenation at least has a habit of offering good counters for the next gym leader in areas surrounding the gym. Take advantage of absolutely everything the game offers. Look into held items and get a mon with Covet or Thief (bonus points if it has Frisk as its ability) to steal them. In current Rejuv you can quite easily make a lot of money (hundreds of thousands) by exploiting a certain sidequest and event encounter if you're patient. Don't neglect sidequests, not just for the money and items but for pokemon as well - even though you can't evolve it after the first gym anymore, the gift Pichu -> Raichu you can technically get before facing Venam is a staple on my team (and baby pokemon are guarranteed perfect IVs in three stats), and Sewaddle -> Leavanny is a beast that will hold its own even in late game. I strongly recommend EV training and grinding for type-damage boosting items like Miracle Seed and Charcoal and such. It makes a lot of difference.

Some questions: 1. What certain sidequest are you talking about here? 2. Can you elaborate on why Leavanny is a beast even in late game?
@aprilmichel7816
@aprilmichel7816 2 жыл бұрын
@@111qqq8 After getting the first badge, Melia will take you to a special place where she will battle you. To get there, she will take you through a cave. One specific traner there will give you a Sewaddle for defeating them. I highly recommend saving before fighting the trainer to get a Sewaddle with good IV spread (three of the six will be maxxed out because Sewaddle is considered a baby pokemon or something - you want Attack and Speed specifically) and, if you can manage, a good nature (read; Adamant or Jolly). In spite of its defensively poor typing, Sewaddle/Leavanny is a beast throughout the whole game because it evolves fairly quickly - lvl 20 to Swadloon and maxxed friendship to Leavanny, meaning that you can have a pokemon with base 100 Attack as early as at level 21 - and thanks to its decent stats, good speed, good stab attacks (Leaf Blade and X-Scissor, also Bug Bite early game) and access to Swords Dance by level up, it hits like a semitruck if you know how to utilise it. The typing does hinder it some, so you need to know when to send it out (not good against Amber or Talon, but it did help me against Angie), but if you manage to set up, that thing is damn near unstoppable, and both Bug and Grass proved to be super useful types/STABs. It's one of those Mons that really grew up on me because I expected to drop it after the fourth gym but it outperformed many Mons I tried to replace it with. It rarely let me down, but I do admit I am a bit biased; it is most definitely worth it for the early game at least.

I disagree on your "Insurgence is laid back" take. Maybe on easy mode you can call it that, but on hard mode the game is very comparable to Reborn, exept the game respects your time when it comes to grinding.
@MisterEcks
@MisterEcks 2 жыл бұрын
Insurgence's hardmode really hinges on outleveling the player, but Reborn focuses on limiting options and enhancing wincons (through fields) as well as having a far better AI. All and all I'd reckon you'll find Reborn much more difficult if you go through insurgence again, for the first "difficulty" fangame you play will likely be your hardest.
@MisterEcks
@MisterEcks 2 жыл бұрын
And make sure to stick around for EP 19 if you're troubled by the grind in 18! :) Audino trainers are certainly a great addition from Insurgence.

@janb.3600 2 жыл бұрын
@@MisterEcks I actually started a new playthrough of Insurgence last week (set mode, no bag items) and I had to train up new Pokemon for every major battle so far. The game pits you against eviolite Honedge and leftovers calm mind Celebi before the second gym, starting at gym 5 the Pokemon you battle are fully EV trained just to give some examples.
@MisterEcks
@MisterEcks 2 жыл бұрын
@@janb.3600 @Jan B. Mhm, Insurgence tends to throw big sets at you as difficulty. The reason that it's way less effective than Reborn is because by then you can have a haunter oneshot both of them. Like I mentioned in the previous comment, Reborn locks the player out of such options before the game is ready to handle them.
@janb.3600
@janb.3600 2 жыл бұрын
@@MisterEcks Haunter looses both those interactions actually because it doesent have shadow ball yet for that battle. There is a handfull of truly broken Pokemon in Insurgence and you have to go out of your way to get them, the game can "handle" most of the things you catch because of how the level caps are chosen. I think the main differences that make Reborn a bit more challenging than Insurgence are the doublebattles and the free field effect that the gym leaders get to abuse.

Most of these are not mistakes, but decisions about the mode of playing. It's like if #6 on the list were "doing a nuzlocke". If someone wants to figure out the puzzles and hidden pokemon themselves, more power to them!
@melismati
@melismati 2 жыл бұрын
My list would be: 1. Ignoring the field effects 2. Dismissing competitively weak pokemon or moves even when they have a niche. 3. Overrating pokemon that are competitively reliant on access to TMs or Tutors. 4. Going into a gym battle with super-effective types but no team synergy or strategy 5. Not trying to connect the dots. (this one's debatable)

That's also what I once thought about these points- but alas, after seeing the experiences of many friends & fellow content creators playing the game- I can't in, good faith, deny any of these points. This guide is moreso directed towards beginners (as I pointed out in the video), and as such I hold the firm belief that all of these points are more than valid. Trading for locked pokemon will hinder a player's ability to learn and thus punish them later on as the difficulty slopes up. Let's take the person who traded for a garchomp to get past Aya- what happens once they reach Adrienn? Ruh-roh, all the problems start to surface. A box with 5 pokemon inside, 0 important items, no tools left to help them break past the wall. Of course, they could trade for a metagross, but that just means they have a high chance of being softlocked in Devon Corp. Keep in mind, all of these points are based off of real incidents. This all happened. Neglecting resources will lead to a player missing out on important items and tools (the video also does not imply any force upon someone to follow a guide through the puzzles, it only highlights the option which many players sadly do not know.) For example, a quick claw is a simple item with a simple location right outside of the grand hall. But its effect is incredibly important- a way to move first in almost any battle. Just having this item in your bag will give you a way out of countless challenges that would otherwise have a beginner stuck in frustration. Not Soft Resetting will waste resources intended to be saved. Not accepting help will only serve to raise one's aforementioned frustration until it erupts in one of many forms of rage-quitting (some are not pretty!) I don't really see a counter-argument to those. Of course I wouldn't recommend a beginner to do a nuzlocke either, that'd be silly of me.
@MisterEcks
@MisterEcks 2 жыл бұрын
@@melismati Number 1-2 I have already addressed in this video, number 3 would be solved by a varied box, number 4 is a good point but less useful for beginners as one would have to first define what Team Synergy is.

Well. Um. I only used one team for the main game, however, I did switch it up postgame once I had access to Groudon. Groudon surprisingly just murders a lot of the post game gauntlets and made some super easy for me. I also put Zeraora for the speed and field change, makes things very useful. I did struggle a lot, but I guess it was good enough to win after enough practice? I did have Aegislash towards the end too, which really helped too, and Nidoking's move poll with Sheer Force is amazing. Greninja because he was my starter and favorite Pokemon (with an Ash- Greninja addon, but I switch it up with Protean.) and Charizard for Dragon Dance sweeping, plus Thunder Punch with Zeraora. However this next play through, I'm getting a lot of the special encounters I missed. I have yet to switch Pokemon out, however I am getting them in case the team must be changed. I will take these tips in mind!

The varied box point is so incredibly true. I absolutely despised Reborn's difficulty on my first time through, in part because I was stubbornly sticking to a sub-par team. Playing Rejuvenation warmed me up to the idea of making constant substitutions and slowly building up to a much higher quality team since I was less attached to the worse earlier 'mons I found. Although e19's QoL improvements also made this significantly more viable, beforehand it was an absolute pain to train up new team members.

On a technical level Rejuvenation beats Reborn in nearly all ways, more diverse characters, better villains, better gym setups, more intricate and varied plot, much wider scope, better exploration, the list goes on, especially since Reborn is kinda grim for the hell of it. They did add in a lot of stuff in ep 19 to improve the early game, but it still doesn't match Rejuv. However all of that said, there is one critical, DEVASTATING flaw imo in Rejuvenation that swinsg my favor away from it; you are not the main character. Reborn does a good job on focusing on you and your character feels integral to the plot, but Rejuvenation focuses too hard on the other cast, you are just a vehicle to watch their story and rarely get any true input. For that reason I prefer Reborn, for all of it's lesser qualities, at least I feel like I matter in the game, there is purpose in playing it.
