Gorgeous. I can usually nit pick over kitchen designs. Would I change anything in yours? No, though I likely would have gone with a black sink. I love when elements "disappear" in a Zen sort of way.The light is (pardon it) brilliant. I noticed it immediately. Bravo! You could simply paint that last strip of drywall matt black to match the cabinets. Less challenging to your natural bent to invention; however, it would make that problem disappear with very little effort. The way you handled that problem corner is genius. Simple and effective.

We have a pull down vent we inherited on our 5-10 yr old stove when we bought our house a few years ago, it doesn’t run to the outside, but just recirculates using a carbon filter. We also use another vent in the microwave atop the stove, also recirculating. They SUCK, for a few reasons, being recirculating they’re not powerful enough, but the biggest problem is the CONSTANT upkeep, especially the lower one, which constantly becomes a grease pit of despair.

It’s an awesome kitchen man. I would just say regarding the extractor, check carefully the airflow rating of any potential product you buy. In a big space like that you need a high cfm rating to make the extraction work well. I would be tempted to install a recirculating pop up hood in the cabinet space behind the hob, it will bring the extraction much closer to the job surface making it more efficient, and doesn’t need ducting outside. It uses a charcoal filter to deal with any smells and puts the air back out into the room, usually at kickboard level.

Looking good! I love the layout! If it was mine I'd have to go a light wood cabinet. Actually, if it was possible I'd have so much pine you'd think you were in a forest, lol. My childhood home had a den with pine paneling and I just loved it. I used to watch some of the old decorating shows like Trading Spaces and I'd almost cry when a house had that paneling and they'd paint it or cover it up. Another point, all of you You Tube posters need to get together and complain about some of the ads. I really don't mind watching 1 or 2 30 second ads at a time, but for a while they've been throwing in longer and longer ads. I don't like to skip ads, especially for individuals like you, but there's a limit to what my patience will endure. Out of 2 different videos today I skipped an 50 minute, 6 hour, 15 minute and a 16 minute ad. To me anything more than a 1 minute ad should be classified as a video posting. Especially when you consider that some posts are less than a minute!

For the exposed dry wall in the kitchen 29:37, you could build an infinity mirror, might just fit for the kitchen

personally I am not a fan of black kitchens and definitely not a fan of using the same tile from the bathroom anywhere in the kitchen because this is the last association I would like to have. but with all that said, the workmanship is spectacular, that brick is gorgeous and I just want to touch it and the light above the island is epic. it looks like it was really well planned out and I hope it works for you for many years to come.

Glad to see you're back with another video! it really turned out fantastic! That remarkable tablet would actually be a game changer for someone like me who has like 5 idea sketch books around the house. I would love shorts about every little things that cant really fit in videos. I Love everything about that kitchen and I'm not even exaggerating. And also thank you for installing GFCI outlets in the kitchen. As an electrician you see so many people who don't understand that outlets close to sinks must be GFCI.

It's about time you revealed but looks really good. Nice that you got a lot of sponsors to send you free hardware and stuff. Blessing of a KZbin channel. Still the hard work paid off cuz it looks next level. Awesome job

I would 100% be appreciative of a video on fridge dent removal! I've got a small dent I need to repair myself ;).

I have that same refrigerator and have had to look up the parts diagram before. Keep in mind that freezer door is only about $275. Worth it in my opinion when the rest of the kitchen is brand brand new!

The diagonal flooring looks amazing, cool to know it helps with the structure too!

Congrats, the kitchen looks amazing. I was literally going to comment about ventilation when you answered the question. I kind of thought you were going to go with countertop downdraft so that you didn't spoil any of the sight lines in the kitchen, but a flush mount ceiling vent system does the same thing. Really, really beautifully done, congrats again, I hope you enjoy it

For the brick cut out, use the marble to cover the drywall. That is if you have an left. It would tie it all together!

always a good day when you post a new reno video. Good use of old footage to give a refresher (it was much needed for my short term memory).

Keep the dent in the fridge, it gives it character and has a cool learning experience story. Great job on everything, looks awesome.

Your dented fridge reminds me of my parents hardwood floors. They're typical middle class people. Finally splurged and had real hardwood flood put in their kitchen and dining room. For some reason the flooring installers didn't hook up the water to the ice maker in the fridge. My dad pulled the fridge out, hooked up the water line, pushed the fridge back only to discover that the fridge put a huge gouge in the new floor.

Quick note on ADS. I normally pay zero attention to them and usually skip over them. Your use of the notepad here was a good idea, because I was looking at that and thinking, "whoa, what is that?" and then I watched the whole ad you presented, went to their website and bought one. Just letting you know.

So happy I came across your video when you first bought this place way back when. Watching this journey is fun and very relaxing as well as informative. I never knew much about what goes into building up a house or innovating but I have learn a lot from your videos. Hope you’re healing well from your surgery and I’m excited to see as you continue with the renovations.

I would do some more black acrylic over those drywall spots with some LED lighting behind it to give a nice glow when the main light for that nook is off. Plus it would tie in with the acrylic on the island.

The kitchen is awesome. Now you need to start a cooking channel! That backsplash tile would also look good in that little spot of drywall, and those little touches tie the whole house together. The hidden range hood would look great. Congratulations for keeping going with this project! Edit: Keep the matching dents.

I've been following your channel from day one, so it's great to see the progress you've made, the kitchen is fantastic as is the rest of the work you have done. And it's also good to see you looking so well after your horrific health scare. Onwards and upwards now. Good luck with all your future projects.

What a dream! Brilliant design choices, clever cabinets for storage are the best! As for the fridge, eh, gives it character. The wrecking ball back splash sounds fascinating, super excited to see what you do there!

That is a gorgeous kitchen. Great use of that corner cabinet for the small appliances. I hate putting my small appliances away because they are so hard to get to, but here you just open the cabinet and slide them out. Also, for some reason I really dug that drying rack you can add to the sink.

Phenomenal work my good sir!!! This is absolutely ambitious and courageous of you to take on such a challenge and actually have nearly no incidents that shows through your work or effects the functionally of the kitchen. You amongst other DIY youtubers that build or create your homes, cars, etc. really inspired me to pursue a career in construction, plumbing, and essentially being a handyman.

Something this series has taught me so far. Assume double the time, over budget the money/labor/time, turn the reno into a series so it can help out with costs, learn to do the simpler things myself, and get permits super far in advance. Question about the range, is there going to be a hood or some sort of extractor fan for when you're cooking? I cook a lot and can't imagine not having an extractor fan or something to keep the smells relatively concentrated.

It's so cool watching you create this from what it once was. I remember that first little bathroom reno well and its insane to see how far this has come. I think it'd be cool if you gave an estimated cost of the products and services for the things you got comped. You don't have to ask the companies the actual number, because I understand thats's your finances. But I think just an estimate of what hardware would usually cost or the countertops would usually cost. It still goes into the cost of the kitchen even if it wasn't your cost per se. IDK. a better picture would be painted I think. but that's a small detail. Also, I love seeing the reciprocal relationship being on youtube has for you. Putting in a double oven because viewers mentioned it. But also teaching viewers that you found a way to save money by using the parts of the old floor for the sub floor that you could. I don't have much to contribute, I just think what you're doin is awesome and looks damn fine. You've got great taste and I love seeing this home come to life.
