Samus being the same size as Super Mario is a nice touch, and it would be further enhanced if her Bomb lays let her transform into her Morph Ball to get through small gaps. On top of miscellaneous sound effects and music, they could add an 8-bit Zero Suit Samus as her special pose.

I think another good character would be Mega Man, he could have a variety of different moves from each robot master. His ZR would be a buster shot, and you can also charge it. His Y would be Charge kick or Top Spin His Down button could be Leaf Shield And his Down and Y could be Flame Blast or Crash Bomb. Note that the Flame Blast will act how it acts in Smash, and Crash Bomb will be placed on the ground and detonate after 5 seconds, and it can destroy blocks, like Link's bomb. Also, Mega Man's moves could be many different things, as he has a variety of moves in his games. Similar to how Mario picks up the master sword to become link, Mario could pick up Mega Man's helmet, Buster, or even and E-Tank to become Mega Man. Another feature could be that when he kills a boss enemy like: Bowser, Bowser Jr., Boom Boom, and Angry Sun, he could get their power. Bowser and Bowser Jr. could make him shoot fireballs Boom Boom could let him get a move similar to Top Spin, Top Man's weapon, in Mega Man 3, only instead of only working in the air, it could also work on the ground. Angry sun could let him charge, or let him swoop down once in the air. He will also be invincible when using this move. And if classic Mega Man couldn't work, try X or another Mega Man.

Here are a couple Ideas I have for Samus: - Her basic pellets should should shoot straight forward (Unlike the Fire Balls which constantly jump in an arc or how Link's arrow gradually fall) and since she is the size of Super Mario, her shots won't normally hit the enemy so when you press down for her to crouch that's when you can shoot a goomba for example. She should also be able to aim her shots like Link and her normal shots have the Properties of Small Mario (Can Only Open ? Blocks and Kill Enemies) - If the Ice Flower or Penguin Suit gets added in the next update, I think she should be able to switch beam type with the triggers to the Ice Beam (Works like the Ice Flower but shoots straight forward) and Wave Beam (Shots can go through Walls) - She should be able to go into Morph Ball Mode (When Standing, press down to Crouch and then down again to actually go into the ball) and her Morph Ball Bombs should work like a Super Mario Jump but on the ground (Can Open ? Blocks and Break Brick Blocks) but she can't jump when in Morph Ball Mode. - She should have both her Regular and Super Missiles (Both assigned to A, just pressing will shoot a Regular Missile but holding down the button for a couple of second will allow her to shoot a Super Missile). Her Regular Missile, like her Morph Ball Bombs, should work like a Super Mario Jump but as a Projectile whereas her Super Missile is like a Bob-Omb as a Projectile. - I think if Samus is in the Varia Suit (Like in Smash) she should have an immunity to all Fire Attacks Except Lava since the Varia Suit is Designed to protect from Heat. - She Might be able to use her Grappling Beam to Cross Platforms (Assigned to X). The Grappling Beam should be able to grab onto 1x1 Blocks and allow her to swing across large gap. This will have so physics so when you hit a sideways spring, for example, you go spinning. Maybe you could even grapple onto certain flying enemies like Red Paratroopa's or Flying Buzzy Beatles and Spike Tops kind of lile certain enemies in the - She should also have the Screw Attack so she harms enemies from all sides during a jump - Finally, If we want to take a page from SMM2 Link, she should be given the Speed Booster so she can barrel through enemies. The Main Difference is that she has Super Mario's Jump Properties as a dash and needs space inorder to really get going (Whereas, Link can do it at a stand still).

Many Mario enemies have appeared in the Smash series and Kirby was able to inhale a lot of them, if not all of them. The only Mario enemies currently in Super Mario Maker 2 which Kirby can get an ability of are Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Piranha Plant, Bowser Jr., and Bowser. He was not able to get any abilities out of Chain Chomps, Hammer Bros., Lakitu, Spinies, Thwomps, Bob-Ombs, Bullet Bills, Banzai Bills, Goombas, Koopas, Magikoopas, or Spike Tops. I'm not sure which ones of them he was even able to inhale, in the first place, but Goombas and Koopas were definitely among them!

Samus Moveset: Look Up: Shoot upwards Crouch: Shoot while crouching Crouch Again: Turn into a morph ball: Jump while running fast: Screw Attack X/Y: Shoot projectiles Hold X/Y: Charge Projectiles, and release (just like Super Metroid) ZL/ZR: Shoot missiles (becomes a homing missile in the night theme) L/R: Switch between Ice Beam (It doesn’t deal damage, but just simply freezes them. Shoot them again to unfreeze) X/Y while in morph ball form: Pull out bomb. Samus powerup would be the Screw Attack powerup. Kirby Moveset: Crouch and X/Y: Slide Kick X/Y: Inhale (press it again to spit them back out) And down to swallow or copy an ability You can also inhale certain blocks, like brick blocks or hard blocks A: Jump multiple times (only floats for 5 seconds before slowly floating back down) Press Again to puff out air ZL/ZR: Guard (Just like in Kirby Super Star) L/R: Let go of an ability Kirby powerup would probably be a warp star, or a Super Lolipop, which ever one. Sonic. He could homing attack (Y), spin dash (down+Y), and boost (up+Y). His sprite would be from the original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis, and oils be used in the Mario World style. His overworld theme could be Green Hill Zone, underground could be Labyrinth Zone, castle could be Death Egg Zone, boss would be Vs Robotnik, final boss would be Vs Death Egg Robot, and level complete could be the music from the first game.

While I 100% wish that all of this would happen, I really don't think any of this will happen simply because of mario maker 2s development track record. Even excluding the 3D world stuff, I think link was chosen because a lot of his sprites were already made, and he could easily be recolored for multiplayer vs. I think the most likely out of all these is kirby, but he either won't have any copy abilities or it'll be something like if he inhales a fire flower he becomes fire kirby. Y'know, simple stuff. Really wish nintendo would pay more attention to post launch content because the only 2 games that seem to have gotten extra love in that department are splatoon 2 and arms, both of which aren't getting updates anymore so... not really any excuse at this point.

I think it'd be cool if there was a smash ball power up. It would give you all the specials that mario has. Same goes for Luigi. For toad and toadette I think they should use the specials of peach and daisy.

I think Sonic would be great for the SMW style. Kirby would be SMB3 and Samus in NSMB. Wario could possibly be in the 3DW style, where Luigi becomes Waluigi, and Toad could be Jimmy T and Toadette Mona. I don't know.

This reply section might be a war zone of disagreements, but I’m going to say this anyways. Wario if he was in Mario Maker 2 as a power up, should not have any Wario Ware representation for many reasons, first reason is because Wario Land is a platform heavy game and makes more sense to represent as a character power up, second of all if Wario had a bike, it would basically function the same as a shoulder bash, third reason people want a Wario Land game for switch, so making the power up work like Wario from Wario Land makes way more sense, so people can make their own Wario land themed levels. Heck Wario can grab in Wario Land games which can add to the puzzle value, Wario is also a dumb brute in the Wario Land games, so adding his ground pound and shoulder bash as a move that can break blocks is a cool function, Wario Land 4 had a dash mechanic which gives Wario momentum and breaks solid objects, this could work well. But what they should do is make a Wario Ware themed power up as a separate option. But I do agree with your picks and overall it’s just your opinion and I am not one to say if it’s valid or not.

I want to see Donkey kong. He would have the roll like in Donkey Kong country by pressing Y and he could roll barrels by pressing down and Y. The barrels could hit some enemy's, on/off switches, p switches and pow blocks. They also be grabbed by swing claws.

Personally, I would want some characters in each of the game styles, not just SMB. E.g. King Boo in the 3DW or NSMB styles where he acts like the Boo Shroom in Galaxy.
