You can also use a router to do the "tray" dado section. The blade on my miter is shaped like a V so it leaves a ridge on the cut creating a gap. Sanding could make uneven. Tried this a couple different ways. I felt cheap doing this since it's so simple, I made it out of hard wood after that, so I felt better charging a shit load. Lol

Matthew I want to thank you for posting videos. I've always wanted to try woodworking but your videos pushed me to do it. I love it. I am disabled so I'm buying my tools one at the time. I just ordered my pocket hole jig and just have my circular saw left to purchase to have all my basic tools purchased. I spend a lot of time alone at home and this has given me a new outlet for my boredom. The best thing is I've been able to build my work tables at a wheelchair level so it's easy to maneuver the wood at my different "stations". I'm the one that sent birdhouse and bird feeder pictures to you. It feels good to be 61 and find something new that I'm able to do. I've sold several pieces and you made that a reality for me. Thank you so very much!

Due to circumstances beyond my control, (my neighbors don't like my new woodworking hobby.) and I do it all out my back yard, I've been forced to move my 'production-facilities' much farther out towards the back end of the lot, along with all these combustible materials(it's stacked/sorted, neatly in homemade wooden racks that I also made, so I can easily find what i need for the next project.) that I've collected, because I'm getting ready to have knee replacement surgeries in a few months. And once I get through all the pain, I'll need something to do while I'm recovering, and a wise man I know said "and be prepared for success!" I've got 5 large homemade wooden racks that are pretty full. This 'move' has put a bit of a wrench in my building plans, and time frame for the holidays, but I should be back in the game in the next week or so. My next place, I just want a good 1/8th of a mile between us and our neighbors.😎Looking forward to having great Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for another inspirational video Brother. You're very much appreciated.

Once more, a great video. I have to say when I saw the base for these I though of the little oval plaques they sell at DT as well as the round flat bottom glass crystals they sell in many colors in little net bags. Since they'll be painted anyway, doesn't matter what color they are. I also thought about the option of using a DT glass candle stick. Of course I'd either add cement where the center dowel goes in or something similar. Just my thoughts. On the risers, I've been using pickets and cut 1xs to run along the bottom to raise it up. Lol
