@axhof4 жыл бұрын
Most high-tech and advanced is the Mercedes Actros. And I think in terms of comfort as well - sitting behind the wheel and the electronics do everything for you - meaning you don’t get tired as fast and subsequently drive more safely. Due to the Mirror Cams you have no more blind spots, damaging tyres and trailers or even accidents, where you overlook bike drivers in the city are gone. This is much more relevant than stitched artificial leather in my opinion .
@anamore3 жыл бұрын
It sounds great on paper, but in reality it's the complete opposite. Due to all those electronic systems doing most of the work you start slacking off and paying less attention to traffic. And those mirror cams are located on arms that you can't see, so when you're manouvering a tight situation it's very easy to hit something and break them. I also should mention that the steering is unnecessarily heavy and feels artificial, so you don't get any signals from the truck about road conditions and traction. And then there's the infotainment system, where you need to scroll through settings for 5 minutes to change the most basic things. Which is incredibly dangerous when you're going 80kph. All in all the Actros is a beautiful piece of engineering, but a piece of shit to operate.

scania is made by SAAB who also build 1 of the best fighter jets in the world. They used to make the best cars as well but they sold the car division to GM who ended up taking all the good bits off doubled the price and building crap cars then dumped SAAB who then went backrupt. But SAAB kept the bus, coach, truck and plane parts of the company. about 90% of the safety features on cars now was invented by either SAAB or Volvo. IE 3 point safty belts. traction control. Crumple zones, safety cages, hazard lights. Its why GM bought SAAB cars and ford bought Volvo car division just to get their hands on all the safety equipment those 2 companies invented.

Had at least 10 trips to repair shop in 2019 alone, even a couple of Volvo Dealerships I took the truck to for repairs were scratching their head about the issues. Oh word of advice, don't ever take your truck to Bruckner's in Dallas/Ft Worth because they do crappy repair jobs and keep you there until nearly closing time.

The reason they are not for sale in the United States... is because far too few people/companies would buy them. In the United States, it's all about "the conventional". Mercedes is owned by Daimler... the same company that owns Freightliner... so the "outlet network" in the United States already exists. Extremely out dated, the steering column adjustment basic, the bed rubish, both driver and passenger seat fitted with one armrest “the inner one”, the other arm has to be rested on the door cart. That’s not a problem unless you are going trough a bumpy road, and your seat is moving up and down, your arm gets banged on the door cart. The onboard computer was great in 2000, but it is very basic, and looks crap nowadays. That’s just a few important things that I have mentioned, there is a lot more to say. Missing the MAN and Scania there buddy. Known to be very comfortable and easy to drive over here across the Pond. Some would even say Scania are the superior trucks here, although I myself prefer MAN
@accelinnetmatte96855 жыл бұрын
Math M I don’t really have experience with the MAN, but i drive a new gen volvo at school and it’s really easy to work with! Definitely agree on the scania missing from this list aswell

Those Kenworth truck still look like those in the US trucker TV series 40 years ago, when I was a child. How old is their chief designer now? :-)

Wonder what Sonny and Will would think about the Kenworth 990. And BJ McKay, too.

I've been in Multiple Volvos and the only difference I can tell is the inside. Plus the old ones can have two beds instead of one

volvo is a very confortable truck, Ive been driving a new freightliner cascadia, drives like a dream! I never thought I would like a automatic but it shifts like a car.

@stormbreaker43144 жыл бұрын
This is no surprice because the Volvo VNL is a europian truck with state of the art tecnology and a lot of german parts. Only the design is for the US-market created. And he is without antique oldschool US-tecnics.

I like the Scania and the Mercedes. The technology and engines in the Scania are much better than in the DAF, even if it's not a V8
@-luksefrygames-4873 жыл бұрын
And? Whats the problem that it doesn't have a v8
@thecakeisalie92283 жыл бұрын
On the contrary, lot's of people want a V8 only for the sound and the prestige, but it's noisy and it vibrate a lot.
