A common mistake i see a lot of the time is not knowing when to retreat. Heavy is a strong class but you can be shredded in a few seconds if you don't know when to retreat from battle and heal up again.

With Heavy's limited mobility, that means that Heavy often can't pick and choose their battles. There is not fight or flight response. ONLY FIGHT. Heavy excels at area denial much like engie's sentry. Don't chase after your enemies, let the enemies come to you. Try and find an area that you can reasonably maintain and push your team's frontline farther (or keep the enemy from pushing your frontline back). Think about what space you want to claim which will give your team the advantage and think about your positioning. Having bad positioning and overextending as Heavy is much more punishing compared to other more mobile classes, since often once you get into a certain position it can be hard to escape from.

As a Medic main, I very often see heavies getting caught up somewhere at low health, getting shot from multiple people. Usually he gave up and keeps shooting, because he knows he'll die in the next seconds. As I help him, he still thinks he isn't going to make it, but keeps dishing out as much damage as he can. My healing is about as fast as he loses health. So now I'm stuck there, healing one person and having to stay in one spot where I become a target. The heavy isn't going anywhere, but he isn't accomplishing too much either. Personally, I'd prefer if these heavies took the chance, ran behind cover, let me give them a full heal and buff, and then pick a fight they can win.

You can look up with a weapon so your hands are covering your player model's face and if the sniper tries to headshot you, it will hit your arms counting as a body shot This works with all classes, it's pretty hard on heavy but it's possible. A better option is to look up and spin. This saved me so many times

Reving up too late is such a life or death situation, with stock I jumped a corner, basically touching a heavy with the tomislav and a medic, I thought I was dead, but since the close range and since I was reved up first, I left with around 200 health, it's such a big deal. The amount of times I died also to a heavy who was already spun up is countless.

For snipers,I use the tomislav and fire slowly and individually as that increases accuracy. The 30 or so chip damage you can usually get in scares them sometimes

As obvious as things like "watch out for spies and snipers" may seem, it's still pretty important. I will say especially for the "playing like you're invincible" part, it's really easy to fall into that when you have a medic, and that gets backed up by the fact that sometimes you'll want to play more aggressively, but that can just lead to you getting yourself and the medic killed.

i am sad to admit that a couple of these mistakes i still make now and then, especially if I am on a roll and mowing down enemy after enemy. The 2 that i still do because of this is not checking my ammo, and not checking my back. I am trying to stop doing these, and succeeding more and more...but every once in a while, when i am just mowing all the enemies down or pushing the payload really far, i will do these mistakes again. I really gotta learn to reign in my hype and excitement when i am on a roll, seems to get me killed eventually

#2 Is false. Minigun has 200 bullets, each doing 5-50 damage. A killed enemy will drop an ammo pack that gives you up to 100 bullets. If you manage to run out of bullets as a heavy, your problem isn't not refilling enough.
