Like I've said plenty of times before, i use Heavy's melee weapons like tools. They aren't used for fighting, but more like abilities on the field. The Fists of Steel are still pretty good, the Gru (Gloves of Running Urgently) are like what you said, a Escape Plan on Steroids. Feel bad for the Eviction Notice though #BringbacktheEviction

The Gru can be used to reach the battlefield quickly if your engi didn't build a teleporter. If you switch back to your mini gun 5-7 seconde before engaging the ennemy, you will be back to full health when thoses babies mercs show up

i disagree with that statement. the GRU have great use as a legit melee weapon, especially when you're on your own fighting a vaccinator medic, GRU heavy is fast enough to run up and punch the medic, nobody expects you to do that because GRU aren't the meta any more and the GRU can random crit, so often times it just takes one punch to kill a medic.

That part about the GRU letting you run as fast as a scout is beyond an exaggeration. You run as fast as snipers, engies and pyros. Before the nerf, you were actually faster than a spy!

thing with the gru is that the health drain can actually be used to heal you faster. removing the gloves makes your max health increases, but your current health also increases by a percentage. so if you had 20 hp on 100 health, once you reach 300 you have 60. this way, you can restore your full health from nothing by only using the banana, rather than the sandvich

The Panic Attack could work with the FoS, in that the swap speed penalty is negated, allowing you to swap back and forth to confuse players who are attempting to melee you. They swap to melee to hit you while the FoS is active, you swap to the PA. They swap to their other weapons, you swap back to the FoS.

for zhe holiday punch, always try to go for the medic. Due to the invincibility the ubered player , they'll put themselves in a situation where your team can easily kill them once you make the medic laugh. If you make the player laugh the medic will simply switch uber targets.

A good Melee strat i use is to Run away for a half-second with your back turned to an enemy before turning back around and punching them the moment they get close, this works well on Scouts that don't know what said Heavy is doing.

the GRU, even while ruined, are great for making snipers panic. Nothing more satisfied than a sniper getting a non charged headshot on you while you're eating sandvich and thinking they can end you before you can spin up your gun. But instead, you pull out the GRU and charge at them and watch them panic while you crit them across the map with a punch to the face

There's one thing I've found that's an amazing upside to the GRU that it didn't have with the deathmark thing that I don't see talked about. If you've taken damage and use it you can pick up smaller health packs and make them heal for more then normal. Say you have 50 health left if you use the GRU till 100 you'd have 33 health left and you can pick up a large health pack and heal you up to full rather then having to get 2 effectively tripling any health packs you pick up. Obviously, no one's going to wait 20 seconds to get to 100 but if you're running away you might. Or maybe just pull it out for a few seconds to make any health pickups more effective. I'm probably not the first person to think of this but if you didn't know now you do.

There's literary 3 steps to melee combat 1. Run at the enemy in question. 2. back off just so you don't get hit at the exact right moment. 3. run toward your enemy and hit them and then back off.
