When i was 8, my brother, my cousin and I went to a small carnival. We all got onto an airplane ride that went up in a loop similar to a Ferris wheel, and the cab of the plane would also "barrel roll". We were near the top when the door flew open. Our cousin pressed his hand against the door frame and kept us from falling out. At 12, we got season passes to Six Flags and my brother and I were on the iron eagle. The bar that closes over your shoulders to secure riders in place flew up on my brother. He grabbed it to his chest and pressed his feet against the wall in front of us and held on for dear life. No matter how much we tried to scream for the operator to stop the ride, they didn't. He's lucky to be alive.

Schwab had fought against stricter rules and inspections for amusement parks. His son had no business riding that, it had no business operating. It had so many problems. Every test slide had something bad happen. His poor brother watched his head roll down. That was so hard to hear. So many horrifying stories here, might as well add ours. If anything, it's a warning to do differently. This was in the UK at a seaside amusement park. We [husband and I] went onto a 'Pirate Ship', one of those that swing really high in either direction but don't go all the way round. Wanting the most thrill, we sat at the very top. As they closed the bar [one across the whole bench], we thought it was too loose. It had at least 30 cm play but nobody took it seriously, they said it's normal. Even though I knew it wasn't, it did lock, but not close to our bodies. As the ride started and went all the way up, the bar opened so much that we literally hang over it like washing on a pole. The worst was that the bar was so thick, you couldn't hold onto, only half way. I didn't even scream as I thought I would die and had to concentrate. I don't know how we managed to get off unhurt. After the ride we told someone, but again, nobody took us seriously and I was so shocked I was glad that we survived somehow. Told some people who got on, that was it. That was over 30 years ago.
@lazzar252 ай бұрын
I, too, rode that same "Pirate Ship" ride in San Diego. My family decided to enjoy a day at Del Mar Fairgrounds. My Grandma (tough woman) and I (met requirements to ride) sat down. The bar clicked safely and was rechecked before starting. As it started to swing, I thought it's nothing, but when it swung high vertically, I was shaking badly. I can honestly say that the bar was too thick to grab, and I prayed that it would be over soon. That was the worst 3 to 4 minutes of my life. I refuse to get on rides like these because of so much death in this video. There are so many carelessness and negligence happening that more safety issues should be in place or rides shouldn't be built

Safety signs and fences were there for (duh) *SAFETY* reasons, not to ignore it for a free kill-yourself moment. It's the kid's fault for bringing himself to danger, ignoring a common sense rule without thinking for a second time. Even the family should've kept their eyes on their kid rather than letting him do whatever he wanted, because that leads to irresponsible parenthood. Although there's water on the slide, it felt like I was getting friction burn and every tube join I went over felt rough and sharp. Due to the lost momentum, instead of flying out at the bottom into the pool, I dropped off at the very end and sunk. People were coming out and I kept getting hit by exiting sliders when I tried to surface. My brother who's 6 yrs older than me and has always been extremely protective was watching from the boundary for me to come out so luckily he saw it. He jumped the fencing and dove in, pulling me out. Funny thing though...when I first lost my mat I came to a stop and piled a few kids up at my back😂. I got pushed free so we all went downwards but instead of slipping up the sides etc like you're supposed to, I continued along the bottom. It hurt, man. I was embarrassed asf once I stopped sputtering after being pulled out. Edit - Luckily I can find some humour in my experience but obv these incidences are beyond tragic. Traumatising to witness😔.

In the rosary case, the worker(s) that showed no concern should be held accountable for ignoring how the safety harness was not latched and locked properly. Especially, if someone else experienced the same thing some days/weeks prior. Had they paid more attention to that and got it inspected, rosary more than likely would’ve been still here.

My kids balked when I said they weren’t allowed to go on any fair rides. (Only permanent amusement park rides.) You have a 60% higher chance of being injured because in most states these traveling carnivals aren’t required to be inspected! We were on the Scrambler once at a fair that vibrated and went too fast. It was my favorite ride as a kid so I knew how it was supposed to operate. After we got off I went to the office and told them they needed to look at the ride and tell the operator how to monitor it. Who knows if they took my advice. My middle child experiencing that ride with me made her a true believer in moms fair rule. All of my kids give invitations to carnivals a hard pass. Thank goodness 😢

Another channel posted video of the FireBall breaking and you can see the guy go flying and land on the ground. There were police officers standing there watching fair goers and not once in the video did they or park officials even go near him or check him. Most were scrambling to the ride and getting others away from it while he's clearly laying there all alone, nobody around him, nobody checking on him. If he even had a hope or heart beat, nobody went to him. He was ignored. Tragic. I'm too old now but the Tilt-a-Whirl scares me enough although I've tried other rides, nothing so dangerous. Just flying swings, scrambler, salt and pepper, 3 roller coasters that weren't too high. Canada's Wonderland and the CNE Toronto Canada where we have stringent rules and laws.

I went on a ride similar to this but nowhere near as high. Each ride had a fear rating of 1-5 & this scary ride was a 5. My boyfriend and I were put in a raft with 3 little kids we didn’t know between 7-10 yrs old. The raft had handles but not safety restraints. We hit the first drop & all three kids flew upward, 2 barely held but I had to grab the smallest kid to prevent him from flying out (no nets) we had to use all our might to hold on to these children for dear life. Had we not been on that raft & it was only kids they would been ejected & died or been seriously hurt. They were screaming crying & traumatized. I went right to give the park a piece of my mind.

Amusement rides are dangerous. Putting your complete trust in these things. Especially as a kid or young person. I had a scary experience when I was a kid. There was this Gondola ride. It was this big ship thing. And it swayed back and forth, going faster and higher each time. It just had a bench seat that sat 2 or 3 people. It didn’t have a seat belt or anything. Just a bar that came down but it didn’t sit on your legs. You just held it. Well one of the times that my side went up, I flew up out of my seat. If I hadn’t been holding on or if it went any higher I’d have flown out of it.

It turned out to be a frightening experience for me. I'm 6'6, and then around 420 lbs, its likely that I should have never been allowed to ride. I stuffed myself in the rear seat of the car, and I was able to double click the padded leg restraints... but because of my height, my legs were never secured under the restraints, as they bowed out to the sides of the car. If the car would have gone upside down, I would not have survived. In trying to make a memory, I came close to traumatizing my daughter. My condolences to these victims and their families.

Make sure you push that all the way down and make sure it’s as tight as possible; even if you can’t breathe while being strapped in those rides, it’s better that way.
