Great tips. You also may want to make sure the riving knife is perfectly in line with your blade. Mine got out of whack a little bit and was pushing the cut piece against the fence causing some binding. Took me awhile to figure that out since my fence was dead on.
@charlieodom9107
@charlieodom9107 3 жыл бұрын
Also, make sure the riving knife is the correct width for the blade you are using. A riving knife wider than the blade can cause issues as well. A good example of this is using a thin kerf blade with a standard riving knife.

I would also add making sure the zero clearance plate is level with the table. Especially before using it to set the angle of your blade. I thought mine was level, but after a while of inexplicable messed up cuts, I realized it was warped and was messing up any cut that was sliding more on the plate than the table. Obviously, a great video regardless. Thanks!

Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and videos. Do you know of a budget friendly fence that would fit an older Rockwell Table Saw,?? It has round tubing in the back and front . Needs a handle to raise and lower the blade. I appreciate any ideas. Rodney

I made a “set up blade” with no teeth to get in the way or hurt you. I took a wore out high quality blade, cut the teeth off on my vertical metal bandsaw, then chucked in the lathe, turned it round. Then checked it for flatness. Works great and never bites me.

I have a jet 5hp cab saw. My biggest issue withbit is the teflon fence. It comes out of square and will have a bow in the fence. Drives me nuts every few weeks to have to reflatten it out.

I believe that most carbide teeth are brazed to the blade, not welded for several reasons. First, to join dissimilar materials. Second, to avoid changing the grain structure of the carbide material by overheating (annealing) and the distortion due to thermal expansion.

thank you for the informative video. i applied your tips and it worked only on the left side of the blade....everything was nice and dead on square...HOWEVER to my surprise the right sight of my blade was not......How can that be ????? So I checked the surface and noticed it was off probably by 1/64 .....So my question is can i get the blade square by using WHAT REFERENCE ??? Thank you very much !!!!!!

I did this with my new saw, but something is still off. With my fence set to 5" (or less) my cuts are accurate. Yet once I move my fence, say to 10", the cut is a heavy 32nd over.. The further out I go on my fence it seems to gradually grow. So at 20" my cut is 20 3/32. Any thoughts? (It's a new shopfox hybrid saw w/stock fence). Thanks in advance!

Sawstop all day. Best saws on the market in every category even if you don't count the fact that they haven't lost a finger in the history of their company. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the jobsite or contractor saw

Jonathan, I am buying a sawstop this next week...I have debated between the professional 3hp and the industrial 5hp. What would you recommend? I will be using some thicker/harder material, such as 8/4 hard maple, osage, white oak...you opinion is greatly appreciated.
@katzmosestools
@katzmosestools 4 жыл бұрын
You'll never be sad you went with more HP. Plus the jump in hefty cabinet on the industrial is pretty freaking beefy. I say go for it and your grand children won't be disappointed when they're your age. It's a lifetime tool, one time purchase kind of thing.

Yes good idea. I bought a new table saw about 25 years ago from Grizzy and didn't know about any of this. Well I could not cut anything square and was really pissed because I paid a lot of good earned money for this saw. So I didn't use it for years since it is only a hobby for me. I then saw something like this and checked my saw and found the blade was out of line and not by thousands of an inch but by over 3/16" with no way to correct it. It was now out of warranty so I took the saw apart and took parts to a machine shop where they milled large slots in them and I could than move the blade to square everything up. New idea, don't buy from Grizzy or check all measurements if you do. Cheap is not a good idea if you don't know how to check alignment.

I don't pursue agreement between the tilt scale and the blade tilt, because I don't trust the scale and the stops. If I want a precise angle, I use a a mechanic's square or a draftsman's angle. Ditto the miter gauge. Of course, once set, the stops are good enough 99.99% of the time.
