Some modern stuff I really like: Batman and Joker Deadly Duo, Robin and Batman, Batman Shadow War, Batman the Imposter and the most recent Chip Zardasky arch basically his conclusion, I thought it was a lot of fun.

As a guy who’s been struggling with his mental health, I couldn’t have picked a better time to revisit Batman: THREE JOKERS. When I first read that story a while back, I didn’t know how to feel. Now it’s one of my favorite stories of all time because it deals heavily with trauma. And the story had me in tears in the right moment of me fighting my own personal mental battles. Geoff Johns get on my nerves haha. Nice list bro. Love it so much. ❤

Great list. I will say, Jason fabok's art was really good on 3 jokers, but i found the very simple panel layout to be boring, especially being one of my first books collecting physically.

I really loved the nine panel layouts. I don’t see it as often anymore and I thought it was a fantastic homage to the killing joke. But I can certainly understand how that style isn’t for everyone as far as the formatting and layouts. That Fabok art itself though is hard to beat 🦇🦇🦇

Started three years ago and I don't have any modern faves. My top five are Knightfall, Hush, Year Two, Gotham After Midnight, Batman War Drums/Crimes/Games run as it one big story.

@@TheComicBookReport It reinforces who Batman is and why he does it his way and what he expects of a Robin. I got a real sense of who Batman is. The run also deals with things like the plans of mice & men, the devil is in the detail & when good intentions go awry. It has lot's of Bat family characters so it is a more ensembled book than a Batman centric book. The ending of Games and then Crimes is an emotional gut punch. Not sure I buy the motivation 100% in Crimes though. So you could stop at the end of Games and it would have a 100% weighty emotional impact imo.

Really loved how Three Jokers explored the trauma Joker inflicted on the 3 protagonists , Bruce’s complicated relationship with Jason, and what happened to Bruce in crime alley. Great story. I have the Gotham Central Omni as well and went through it in a couple of days. Looking forward to reading the rest of these stories. Been wanting to get into the Zdarksy as well I loved his work on Daredevil. Thanks for the recommendations.

Why are two of these comics on here for best Batman comics bit the comics aren't about Batman. The GCPD is a good read but it's not a good Batman story. Same with Riddler One Bad Day good Riddler story but it makes Batman really stupid and out of character in order to make Riddler more of a threat. Like I don't mind videos with these comics in it just feels weird when you said these were Batman comics. That implies they are about Batman, have him be one of the main characters, and not making him look like an idiot. The Grayson one works only because he was Batman, and it is a gripping story. Your other picks are really good though but it feels like you cheaped out on us. Sorry man it just feels you could have made two other videos like best batman villain comics, or best side characters comics.

Fair enough counterpoint. I could argue these books are closer to Batman books than any other property and Batman is featured in them all, but I understand your point. I think I had hoped to provide a bit more variety in my selections and I love Gotham Central’s approach to the bat universe. Similarly the Riddler story I thought was very compelling as well-curiously would you consider Killing Joke a Batman story or a Joker story? At any rate thank you for watching and commenting! 🦇📚

@@George_17-28 yeah I’ve heard it’s been generally less favorable after Failsafe but I’m still happy to read on. I’m curious how I’ll feel about it. At the very least it’s probably good I temper my expectations
