My advice would be to check Stoicism for every poker player. It's ancient roman philosophy. Dichotomy of control and other aspects of this philosophy can be greatly incorporated in poker player's mindset. Look for Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius and Seneca's writings.

very strong video Ben, thoughtful and wisely delivered, liked it alot! I was about to write the same thing about David Goggins - Can´t hurt me - it wil change everything one thinks about mindset profoundly for sure, it is a hell of a story and one of the most motivating stuff I´ve ever read. As you are also more and more into meditation and mindfulness I highly recommend the science of enlightenment by Shinzen Young - it is pure gold imo and completely reopened my mind within the realm of meditation. I´m pretty sure you will love it as much as I did in case you don´t know it yet, do you?? PS regarding Goggins...audible is king ;)

Ben, i have a question regarding the profitability of the games today. I find that i run into player after player grinding out $50-75 per day (at pretty high stakes). I was just wondering, like what hourly do you aim for when you play? How many hours do you play usually? Is being a PURE poker grinder still a feasible method to earn decent money, or are poker players backed into the corner of doing something else on the side, such as coaching or writing a book? Or can some people really earn enough from poker to ONLY do that? If so, how hard is that to attain these days? Feels like the edges being so thin would lead to HUGE breakeven/losing stretches and be close to impossible to work through? I'm trying hard to keep the dream alive, but i'm starting to think possibly poker will be a better hobby for me than a job.... But i don't want to think that.

Lieber Ben.... Man weiß, wonach man sucht. Nichts davon ist "Life changing" . Die Bibel ist Life changing. Brian Tracy. Es geht eben nicht um Long Term and sacrificing today for a better tomorrow... Short term thinking. That's why so many people started their poker career or any other in the gambling market. Jordan Belfort said it once very clear and I guess 99% of viewers felt that he understands them... He said: " Get rich. And do it quickly." As long as nobody can bring up a book/system which really work under this criterias, is everything bullshit and helping only the writer of the book. I have no idea, why you did this video, but I am disappointed. This is 0815 stuff, which anybody, who struggle for freedom (money and success) should feeling pissed. Because hard work and sacrificing today for a better tomorrow is not really new and obviously not life changing! Regards

That is your opinion. Those books have changed my life. Period. Just because you dont like them or you have a different approach doesnt mean it cant help othes. You have the right to be dissapointed. But sometimes people simply have different approaches towards life :) Have a good Sunday :)!

Un Allemand I haven‘t read the Books (yet) so I can‘t say if they are bullshit or not. BUT I can say to you that everyone is different. Me for example when I read a comment that recites Jordan Belfort as someone to take advice from I become very skeptical. If your goal is to aquire money/wealth short term, that’s fine (as long you don‘t screw people over which, lets be honest is the the most profitable way most of the time). But why should you feel pissed if someone has a very different approach to life and shares that and what literature helped/inspired him? I found the video interesting and will check out some of the books. If they don’t work for me, that‘s fine, books don‘t really cost a fortune and it’s never a bad idea/investment to read something, so why not read something that someone you respect recommends to you? I really don‘t get how a list of books that someone recommends (and even explains why) can make me pissed. It’s not like he is selling two-year contracts for an insurance-company that you can‘t get out of...
