key take away: think it trough! as well as the goal is: high quality decissions, which came from a state of being in peace with past decission to learn from it. I always observe how tense and serious our society approach daily life, which lead to rather quantity decissions. imo

I feel people play often too fast online , they don’t really think about what they are doing especially in the beginnings of a Mtt, many people Now a days follow a theory or a method but I think the best is to find your own method which works against those “common” methods how to exploit the theory and make uncommon moves to let your opponent think. I don’t like following a norm

I unfortunately dont have the bankroll and likely also not yet the skill to play tournaments at these limits. But I would like to give my take on the subjects presented from a microstakes players perspective. 1) Stacking of preflop to lightly is probably one of my biggest leaks in tournaments. I just busted in one of the first hands in the 2,2$ Scoop phase tournament, which is running right now, due to getting AJ all in preflop 28 BB deep SB vs. CO open. As for the AT hand, where we get 3-bet OOP, in the micros this would typically just be a fold for me. The general population is just not 3-betting aggressive enough for this to be a long term profitable call. 2) Bluff catching. Especially against an unknown Villain I like to go back to ultra basics and look at, how strong my hand is compared to all the other hands, that are possible on the board. And without even having a pair, even its the nut nothing, we can almost always just let it go. This is even more important in the micros, because most people are just not bluffing all that much on the river. So often its fine to just give them credit and let them have it. 3) Value betting thin. 100% agree. In this spot his hand is very face up as an overpair hating live maybe 90% of the time. No need to get gun shy and give him a free showdown, when we are so likely to have the best hand. Once in a blue moon he is trapping us with something absurdly strong like pocket aces, but we cant live scared of those monsters under the bed.

Good job. Very good video. Timing tells are so important today. Today I am playing not more then 5 tables at once and very often it is not easy. Why? Because I am trying to read timings/bet sizings and note everything, this is value. It's not easy, but I love to do it! Also Ben can you give advice: I playing slow structure private buy-in freeroll, and the final table prize pool is 1-109$, 2-7 22$, 8-9 5$ tickets. The structure of blinds at final table changes that way, that everyone becomes very short, the biggest stacks almost always are 17-25 BBs and other stacks are around 10-12 bbs. I know it should be adjustment to player pool, but when everyone is short stacked it is a bit complicated.

Hey, Ben! Thank you very much for your content! One question, would it be more profitable for a guy with QJs to just shove the turn instead of doing bet check bet? he got lots of fold equity and also quite some equity when called(not against the flush though)? Also would like to hear your thoughts on combining mtts with cash games or is it better to focus on one domain? Thanks in advance, legend!:)

Ben, I like that you highlight the importance of considering the future-game in our pre-flop decision-making, based on other stack sizes, etc. However, against this SB (who, given your description, likely has a strong range), is our decision to flat with AQs IP the result of the great playability/equity against SB 3-betting range, or is our flat call reflective of our overall strategy against this SB squeeze? In other words, would we be flatting 99-JJ and/or AQo, AKo here? I assume we are just folding our 22-88, AJ, etc.
@RaiseYourEdge
@RaiseYourEdge 5 жыл бұрын
AKo I would jam because we have way more equity. Also JJ dominates 99/TT which will be hard to get his full stack postflop. So JJ+ AK+ I jam pre and the other hands I am calling. AJ 22-88 I am also calling.
@Johnny-cz2wv
@Johnny-cz2wv 5 жыл бұрын
Usually great content but this time it's a little shaky. AQs hand is not consistent in the reasoning for example. Also the QJ 3b pot line is quite often thin value like JJ QQ KQ KJ AT. Combined with population severely underbluffing the b/x/b line it gets actually fairly close. Still a clear call with Ah of course.

@@pauljones3587 You probably found out already, but that is what he means. The term block is used in poker to mean we know the probability is lower than they do because we hold the card. In rare cases, we see all the 10's and it truly is a full block, but block doesn't mean for sure he doesn't have it. It is just less likely.

Is this why you were flatting 10's JJ's and other premiums while you were playing in the SCOOP event? And do you recommend it in micro mtt's to just flat IP premiums to ''play it safe''
