I repeatedly had three bulging discs at a time 5 different times over a 4 year period. Chiropractic helped, but then it would happen again months later. This happened over and over again. I finally healed them with bone broth, many raw veggies and yoga! Real yoga, not the "look what I can do" kind of yoga, but Viniyoga therapy yoga. I have been bulging disc free for about 3 years now!

Hi everyone, I have L4-L5 herniated disc with the bulging of 3mm according to the MRI results. Before getting the MRI a chiropractor diagnosed Piriformis Syndrom. The Piriformis is a muscles underneath your glutes. The adjustments just made everything worse so I decided to stop at te 4th session. Accupunture helped ease the pain but just to a certain point. What really helped me was decompression of the spine on a traction table. Be VERY CAREFUL when getting adjustments by chiropractors since like in my case, any rotational adjustment seemed to put more pression on the disc therefore pinching the nerve again. After 15 sessions of spine decompression almost all the symptons were gone. Good luck to you all and try to wear a semi rigid belt or corset
@CalmVibesVee4 жыл бұрын
Decompression is important. Watch bob and brad pt to learn different ways to decompress spine. Disc issues have to have a multi approach for life. Surgery can make your spine weaker down the road. Keep learning. Walk a ton and don’t sit very much. Get lean and strong.

What you said about the pain stemming from ligament damage as opposed to the disk herniation and bulging was very interesting. Furthermore, some people have not experienced positive results from them. Please let me know if there is anything else I can try to fix the ligaments. Thank you.

I follow your material Dr Axe, I find it good, informative and helpful. How can you say that only 5% of chiropractors do corrective adjustments? When it comes to disc herniations, I have found hands down as an athlete that many chiropractors are great at treating/repairing disc herniations. Chiropractic biophysics is not the only type and can be quite invasive stretching everything to it's extreme. It should be more about finding a good chiropractor as at the end of the day, they get the pressure off the nerve, decrease the inflammation and get the disc pumping properly "imbibition". Not only 5% of them. Big call and I think a lot of people would not agree with that statement. Thanks for this information however. Find a good chiropractor people and also look at Foundation training. Thanks :)

Couldn't agree more. Well said Terry. I could not move properly and tried all sorts of therapies before chiropractic. As soon as I had my sacro iliac joints adjusted and had some SOT soft tissue release by my chiro, I could move again and the healing began. I have recommended my chiro to everyone as they know what they are doing, explain everything and give me corrective exercises and of course, I got results pretty quickly.

How about when it comes to healing spinal conditions where the spine has lost its natural curve? For example, what can somebody who has a very straight thoracic spine do to correct it? This spinal condition makes the upper back look really flat and can cause physical discomfort as well. (On top of that, pronounced scapular winging is also apparent.) I've seen a lot of videos that show exercises to correct a hunched posture but there is so little info on correcting an unusually flat upper back. That's why the causes & solutions to this problem are unclear to me.

Yo I herniated my L5S1 in 2016 after taking 3-4 weeks off lifting and going back in as if no time had gone by. I was in the worst fucking pain ever but let me tell you I actually got through it. All I did was take a break and waited till my body recouped by itself. Once the occupational/household tasks got easier I went back into the gym and trained in ways that allowed my spine to stay neutral. For example, if I wanted to do back day: lat pulls, weighted pull-ups with belt around your waist (basically decompression), or when I did legs: I did front squats which allowed my spine to stay neutral. Be VERY careful with your body movements and take the extra 5 seconds to think if it’ll hurt or not rather than letting it hurt and regretting doing so. It takes time to heal but is definitely worth waiting for. Don’t force stretching because it could get worse. Everyone IS different but all I can say is that you gotta find your sweet spot for recovering whether it’s jogging, stretching, walking or lifting weights with strict form.

My disc space L5-S1 has reduced to 5.5 mm,my age is 27. Doctor said i have very narrow chance of getting better,he recommended me surgery if all the conservative exercises fails,i feel pain in my buttock which radiates in my left leg.I want to know is there any method i can increase my disc space or can bring my disc to the normal position where the space will increase to 10 mm -14mm. Please advice as i don't want surgery at this age.

This is the best advice you will see. Lie flat on your stomach for about 30-45 minutes. Doing this will open up your spine and allow the disc to fall back into place. After about 30-45 minutes of lying down you will notice a pain in the herniated area. This is the body's healing process. Lay down on your stomach every chance you get and eventually the body will heal the disc and your pain will be about 90% gone. After that I would suggest walking, to get blood flow to the herniated area and promote the healing process. Try it

Also avoid any stretches or exercises because they will most likely further herniate the disc

Guys, i am 30 years old and i feel like an old lady. I have a 22 month old and its hard to heal with a baby, i have to carry him often. We also live on the 4th floor, no elevator, and although I am a trooper and get by daily without complaining, i feel like I am never going to heal due to all the strength i use up daily to get things done. Sometimes even sweeping hurts, i take a break, and when i feel better, i continue. I just worry about my future. I need a solution. I am in so much pain today.

Inversion Table and decompression, Yoga, walking really helps lower the pain.

I was told decompression. Does it permanently get rid of it? Or just relieve pain?

Hi! Please tell me how long you used the inversion table before it helped? THANKS!!

Please someone help! I was in a car accident five months ago and I have a thoracic middle back injury! I have gone to physical therapy at Kaiser but that’s about all they gave me! And it will not go away! Please if someone has dealt with this before, will this go away, am I going to stuck like this for the rest my life! I feel like I’m at the end of my rope to snap! Every time I think it starts going away it comes right back! And I think that back roller think I am using is making it worse so I stopped! If anybody is dealt with this and knows how to fix this please let me know! It’s been five months! Completely disrupted my life!

Hello Dr Josh, what do you mean exactly by healing a herniated disc? do you mean relieving the muscle spasm & releasing pressure off the nerve roots, or making the disc recoil back to its original location prior to the injury? I am asking because all the orthopedists I have consulted there is no way a bulged disc can be brought back to its place!

Then those physicians must not know about ozone therapy. If I could add two more suggestions to Dr. Axe’s list, I would say Ozone Therapy and Stem Cells preferably from the clinic Regenexx. Look both of those up. Hope it helps.

Eating healthy in general is great also greens like spinach,kale... maybe make a smoothie out of it help with nerve pain if you have that.
@madpenguin94028 жыл бұрын
Something like 'Reserveage Organics Plant-Based Support Collagen Builder'. Trust me, the advice below of 'greens like spinach,kale' won't repair you. Tried that, doesn't work. You need a collagen alternative like I mentioned above.

Yissel Herrera I don't mean to be rude, but this is one of those things where being a human and eating what's necessary trumps ideology. I looked up alternative and didn't find anything that had the same nutritional content. I was hoping for a pill, not because I'm vegan or anything.

Man up and eat the broth
@iainlindsay2117 жыл бұрын
A good vegan BCAA powder won't be as effective but will still help massively Yissel. Make sure it's a 4:1:1 ratio, have three or four servings a day and that will definitely aid your body to produce its own collagen. :)
