I have been a Laker fan as far back as I can remember. What I am sad about most is not Kobe the NBA player, but Kobe the human being who was about to impact the world with how to approach life. He was going to be remembered for what he did after basketball, that how great he was. He was just getting started.

I feel this. I was never a big Kobe fan, but the type of person he was off the court is admirable. I once read that he would visit children’s hospitals whenever he was on the road, long before social media.

Loved the Rip Hamilton story. Had no idea of him and Kobe’s relationship. And it makes it even more crazy knowing they matched up in the finals and Rip’s team got the best of Kobe and shaq. Must’ve really fueled a different fire in Kobe that offseason.

My oldest son (born in '97) was a HUGE Kobe fan as a kid. His little brother (born in '10) recently got SUPER into basketball, probably because the 76ers were in the playoffs this year. When he shoots the ball, he yells "KOBE!" (For the record, he also yells that when he throws long football pass...LoL)

It was the weirdest thing, the week before he passed, I binge watched all the interviews (there's lots of good ones btw, he delves deep into his psychology) I could find with him. Was obsessed with his mentality. I was still watching them and didn't even know he was gone for 2 days.. (didn't watch news whatsoever) I almost threw up when I found out. ANYone but him. Rest in power Kobe and Gigi.

I don't really know. I always thought Kobe was a phenomenal athlete, and he was good. But that winning it in 2010, i was like "Damn!" I had a deep respect and acknowledgement of his greatness. Top 3 is a very hard spot to get. i don't think about where he should be, or most players tbh, but anything top 15 are Extremely Exceptional. Top 10 is Supremely Elite. Top 5 are Ascended.

Bro it's CRAZY how Kobe even SOUNDS like MJ in that really early interview - not the sound of their voice - Kobe was just a kid - but take what Kobe's saying and replace it with MJ's voice and it sounds just like a normal MJ interview. Spent some time with a friend of a friend that worked with Kobe at BodyArmor post retirement. He said Kobe had the same Mamba Mentality in business as well. 3am texts of random stream of consciousness thoughts about how they could beat the competition etc. I can only imagine what that dude would have been able to accomplish post career but I bet it would've been great.

I have never been one to idolize anyone, but I do appreciate and recognize greatness. "Celebrities" are human like everyone else, but I must admit I cried when 4 celebs passed in my lifetime... Michael Jackson, Robin Williams, DMX, and Kobe. Cause they all had a major influence in a lot of my creative talents. With that said... Kobe was a beast and will always be in the top 3 to me.

That next season G Hill played against the pacers I got a grant hill poster that game. Got my Michigan hat signed by Jalen Rose and poster signed by half the pistons. While G Hill was signing I said you’ve been working on your jumper. He stopped and looked up at me. I said it looks better but still needs some work. The look he gave me was priceless. You could really see the work he put in but it wasn’t there just yet.
