I have been a Laker fan as far back as I can remember. What I am sad about most is not Kobe the NBA player, but Kobe the human being who was about to impact the world with how to approach life. He was going to be remembered for what he did after basketball, that how great he was. He was just getting started.

My oldest son (born in '97) was a HUGE Kobe fan as a kid. His little brother (born in '10) recently got SUPER into basketball, probably because the 76ers were in the playoffs this year. When he shoots the ball, he yells "KOBE!" (For the record, he also yells that when he throws long football pass...LoL)

It was the weirdest thing, the week before he passed, I binge watched all the interviews (there's lots of good ones btw, he delves deep into his psychology) I could find with him. Was obsessed with his mentality. I was still watching them and didn't even know he was gone for 2 days.. (didn't watch news whatsoever) I almost threw up when I found out. ANYone but him.
