Hi Dan! thank U for your time. But can U will show all this stuff with some (any) software?

Will do. And thanks so much for the suggestion. I do go over this stuff in detail in the GPR BASICS course. There is an hour long lesson on GPR data processing primarily with these steps.

Hey Dan! Thanks for all the great content. I'm a grad student learning GPR for archaeological purposes and I was wondering if you could upload a basic tutorial on how to use software like Radexplorer if possible? Thanks so much for your great videos! Your passion is super inspiring :)

Hi Dan! Thanks for your insights! Did you mention these steps in the order in which they should be applied? Or it doesn't matter which step-sequence we follow?

I generally do, often filters will change gains so i like applying the gains after the filters (or at the same time). I definitely recommend starting with time zero.

Sangita Singh thanks so much for watching. I'm so glad you found it helpful. I'd be happy to talk to you further about data processing. What kind of system do you use?

Thats awesome! Such a cool application. And you get quite deep in the ice. I think for you Topo correction and Migration (not talked about in this video) are going to be key! Do you know how to use Migration in Radan?
@jelimearay35436 жыл бұрын
Hello Dan!. How can I do topographic corrections? I did the other 5 steps that you comment but I need to correct by topography but I don't know which software could I use or how to do that
@Learngpr6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jelime. Thank you for the question. You can use most software packages to make this correction. GPR-Slice, reflex W, Radan, Ekko-project all have topographic correction functionality. Ideally you would need the elevations across the survey profile to make these accurate. GPR-Slice however has a pretty easy function to correct for it if you don't have the elevations. The software allows you to "pull" the data at any given point to macro adjust topography. This works great if you don't have a ton of undulations in the landscape. Hope this helps! Good luck!!

LearnGPR thank you very much for your comment. I will try to apply that in reflex or look it in the GPR slices.

Hello Dan, We use Montaj software for the magnetometer data processing. Can i process the GRP data using Montaj sotware??
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
Rakesh Tayal Hi Rakesh! I haven't used Montaj in a few years but you couldn't process GPR profiles then. But Montaj is an incredibly powerful software for processing 2d plan view maps such as for em induction and magnetometer data sets. So what is possible...is to create GPR time-slices in another program like gpr slice or radan or Ekko project and export as a digital file. then plot those in Montaj and process the time slice data. I have seen some excellent GPR maps created in Montaj. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Dan, My question is out of the scope of your video. I am going to evaluate moisture content in the granular materials. Despite doing a vast literature review I am still confused if I can use GPR technology in this regard. Any references, techniques?? I think I may have problems with interpreting the radargram to determine the moisture content at different depth ... Cheers, Ebrahim
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ebrahim, You often can interpret relative differences in moisture content. But, evaluating percentage of water by volume is something that would be very difficult to do. As an aside, I do go over an example of mapping ground water differences in our GPR BASICS course. If you want me to check out a radargram for you just let me know.
@ebrahimsangsefidi28077 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dan, Could you please clarify the definition of the relative difference in moisture content. I thought I can determine the volumetric water content using GPR technology. Although I will check your page regularly, could you please inform me when you launch "mapping groundwater difference" course. Further, I was wondering if you could introduce any relevant references about this issue. Thanks again for your time and your offer to check out my radargram. However, I have not started my fieldwork. Best regards, Ebrahim
@Learngpr7 жыл бұрын
sure. When I am talking about relative differences I mean looking at the variation in amplitudes. greater amplitudes will indicate greater differences, often indicating greater water saturation

Rebwar Nasir also an important filter. Most instruments run a DeWow automatically. It's a vertical filter like the bandpass. Definitely something that should be used if you have a lot of drift and it's not done by the instrument.

@@Learngpr Do you know if SIR3000 from GSSI run DeWow automatically? I didn't find anything in the manual. So considering that you need to apply a DC and DeWow filter, would you recommend to do before or after time zero correction. Important to note that, in my case, a gain is recorded in the file header and the first step in my processing chain is to remove that gain.
5 жыл бұрын
I also notice that getting the ReflexW to calculate the nominal frequency before and after "remove gain header" gives different values
@Learngpr5 жыл бұрын
@ i believe the sir 3000 does a 1d filter in real time. Either a dewow, sc shift or both. When you bring it into reflexw it might import in as raw. That is why it has the vertical striping. Hope this helps
