Except for the "6 Black Men vs 1 Secret White Guy" episode where Rob (the mole) was the second person to vote to continue the game even though they were all blindfolded and had no way of seeing whether anyone else wanted to continue the game. He probably would've won the game that round if he hadn't voted to continue (I think 3 out of 5 players voted to continue the game, and he was one of those 3 that voted to continue), but he was so confident that he could survive another round and ended up winning.

That's literally what it is in America, though. The more "ethnic" your nose is, the more it's disliked. You see that the majority of people on there for non-injuries had naturally "ethnic" noses, the almost had a full little ethnic circle there. It's very unfortunate that people do not see how terrible and unrealistic the "ideal beauty standards" are especially when they are imposed on such diverse communities by one single racial group. I strongly appreciate diversity, but I personally had serious body image issues until I moved to live in a more homogenous area, where my features were "normal." I think everyone could benefit from diversity, but also it can be important to make sure that young children are exposed to large communities of people who have those features to show them that nothing is wrong with themselves. I owe so much of my self-acceptance to simply seeing other people with my features accepting themselves and never knit-picking things that are completely fine and normal to have.

That’s literally insecurity since you care what people think of you looks-wise. And for the dense people who think I’m influencing the negative stigma for nose jobs. I never said it was a bad thing, I’m pointing out the reason on why people who get their nose done.

There are a lot of people that have deviated septum’s, causing them to have breathing problems, especially during sleep. Depending on the severity of the deviation, some people can’t even smell properly. This issue is usually fixed trough surgical procedures such as rhinoplasty, aka nose job. When the septum is straightened out, the nose also has a straighter look to it and usually completes the person’s facial harmony better. I hope this explains some of you questions 😊
@kathrynsun3731 Жыл бұрын
There are a number of reasons why people get cosmetic surgeries. Didn't you hear the blond girl's reason? She wanted to not see her father's nose when she looked at herself in the mirror. That's not an insecurity. She just didn't want to look like someone she wasn't fold of. Some people have a crooked nose and want to straighten it for a aesthetic reasons, but it's not necessarily that theyre insecure about it. They just think correcting it would look nicer. You have to be able to distinguish between getting a procedure because you feel inadequate without it versus getting a procedure because you personally like the way it looks. And like the comment above me said, there are functional reasons for getting a nose job as well.
@RoseInnn Жыл бұрын
@@kathrynsun3731 The blonde girl was insecure? Exactly she didn’t LIKE the way her nose looked because it reminded her of her father, that in itself is insecurity since she has an inability to cope - lacking confidence on the way her nose looks. Yes of course you can get a nose job because you like the way it’ll look afterwards. However that’s not to say there isn’t a lack of confidence and issue you find with YOUR nose which made you go out of your way to surgically change its shape. And I did say before that having it changed for medical reasons is different and not the context we’re referring to.
@kathrynsun3731 Жыл бұрын
@bananajotaro8557 not wanting your face to reflect someone you don't associate with anymore as a way of cutting them out of your life is not the same thing as lacking confidence or being insecure about it. People do things that make them happier, but in order for for that to be considered an insecurity, it would require that they have a diminished sense of self worth due to that feature. You seem to not be able to distinguish between those 2 concepts. Someone surgically splitting their tongue because they like the look is in no way due to an insecurity unless they feel like less of a person without it. And ultimately, you're an outsider making an assumption based on your own beliefs about why people get procedures.
@RoseInnn Жыл бұрын
@@kathrynsun3731 It shows she had inability to cope with the way her nose looked, reasoning doesn’t matter since the core reason she’s decided to get rhinoplasty is to change the shape of her nose. Rather than move on with it, she chose to get rhinoplasty. The context you gave of someone getting their tongue split is entirely different. People get it done for pure aesthetic reasons, no one gets their appearance judged for the shape of their tongue like people with different shaped noses do. The tongue isn’t something people consider/focus upon nor does it stick out to the public. Noses are almost the first thing people consider when it comes to physical appearance and attractiveness (fitting the beauty standard). Tongue splitting and rhinoplasty have different distinct motivations. Whether I’m an outsider making assumptions doesn’t matter. One can say the same thing to you too.

I do see a problem with it, though. Because there is always a reason why you are doing it - to conform to the eurocentric beauty standards. And whilst doing so, you are making it more popular, something that should be sought after. It is an indirect slap to people with ethnic noses and everyone who doesn't fit the standard, because the surgery says that that is not what is beautiful. Although I would like to imagine that people do it purely for self-confidence and don't care whether others will commit to it as well, fact of the matter is, we are not living in a vacuum and our actions do have an indirect impact on others around us, because subconciously we start thinking that the accepted ''plastic surgery look'' is normal.

4:03 not tryna be that person but what he said wasn't very open-minded and kind of excluding a lot of those that get bullied into getting one. I mean yes, nowadays everyone is preaching the love yourself movement, preaching about getting things done for yourself, but that doesn't mean everyone deep down doesn't have an insecurity or that people don't have insecurities anymore. Even Sophia said she basically got pretty much bullied into it. He has to be somewhat insecure too since he got it done, nobody just gets it because they want to unless you are rich and got a lot of money laying around to spend, but even so those that get it because they're rich can somewhat be insecure too because they're changing their appearance. Basically what I'm saying is, everyone that gets an unnecessary nose job has to be somewhat insecure whether it's a little or a lot, to have gotten a nose job costing thousands of dollars that can alter how you look all together.

Honestly this is reeeally interesting. I got my nose job 5 years ago and it was definitely a pretty major procedure. Of course I look like someone had beaten me up severely and the first two weeks after surgery were extremely painful and exhausting, but as soon as they took the cast of I loved it more than I ever thought I could. I had anticipated hating my nose even more than I did before for a year after surgery but for me it was never very swollen at all. Interesting how bodies can be so different. I had an open rhinoplasty and you can definitely see the scar if I tilt my head back. On really cold days it will get a little red. The cost is crazy too, some of them paid almost 10x what I had to pay, as my German health insurance paid for the parts of the surgery deemed a medical necessity (I didn't even have very significant breathing problems, but according to the doc it met the criteria). I wonder if these people also had part of it covered by their insurance or if they had to pay everything out of pocket.

devon is my guess. her nostrils are uneven and that’s usually a dead giveaway that you have a natural nose. or more so the inverse lol. if you have perfectly symmetrical nostrils it’s usually a sign of a nose job.

not true. i have very obviously nostrils (if you're paying attention to them) and i had a nose job. my surgeon didn't want to touch them because he said it's not a big enough deal and the scars for it would be harder to hide

it's crazy. I've got a big hump but wouldn't change for anything. granted I've never been bullied for it, only gotten a few weird comments, but yes I have a big nose. yes it's uneven. idk though I really like it. sometimes I have my moments lol, but overall no way I would get a nose job even if it was free.

Cool, no room for individuality, and a completely eurocentric standard of beauty that you are chasing. But I'm sure you got it done because of personal choice, which completeeeeely has nothing to do with beauty standards that were developed through the process of colonialism. I'm well aware that it is hard to learn to love your body living in a society that constantly pushes so-called "norms" and what is ''perfect'', but you have to be delusional to tell yourself that a nose job was completely done out of your personal preference (unless it is a medical one). Ask yourself - why THIS TYPE of nose job? Why am I not getting a surgery that would make my nose look bigger, have more edges, but THIS SPECIFIC one that makes it look pointy and small?
