@joshpearson25293 ай бұрын
@@reazmohammed999 Almost no drawbacks. This is my first MTB groupset I’ve owned, I’ve only ever had road bike groupsets so I can only compare with them. I wish the derailleur didn’t have a clutch, as it’s not needed for my commuter bike that will never go off road. A lot of reviews say that the U8000 derailleur is slow at shifting, I disagree. I had my groupset fitted by a professional mechanic and after 4-5 weeks of bedding in and cable stretch, it shifts as good as Ultegra R8000 Road groupsets without doubt. The only other slight negative is its a slightly more noisy than my road groupsets, I assume it’s the fact that the Link Glide chain is wider than Hyper Glide chains. Apart from that, really happy how robust and solid the U8000 groupset is, it feels as if it will last decades, hope this helps.

I can see it's not for me because I currently have 4 bikes all using m5100/6100 rear mech in different configurations (10,11,12 speeds) plus one still running an m7000. All work very well using a range of cassettes (from generic chinese to sunrace to 7100) when paired with the correct shifter. And all the while having to keep only one model of spare mech on hand that will work for all of them, that can be had for about 30 USD. You've got to switch to a LINKGLIDE chain to boot!!! (CN-LG500-11 for 10/11-spd and CN-LG500-11 for 10 or 11-spd) and then retest the M5100-11 setup on the CUES U6100 cassette (CS-LG600-11) again. You mistakenly call in U6000...whereas the U6000 is the 10-speed cassette in this same series. Btw I recent replaced a worn out cassette on my older 2012 model Opus Sequence cross/commuter bike with a 9-speed Road-style Shimano drivetrain, the 3000 series SORA rear-derailleur (RD-R3000-SS), with older dropbar brifters (ST-R3000) with a too tight 11-25T grouping cassette (SORA CS-HG50). When the life finally gave out and it was skipping on the old chain paired with OEM cassette I finally replaced it with an upgrade to CUES! The wider range 9-speed CUES/Linkglide Cassette 11-36T (CUES U4000, CS-LG400-9) + Chain (LINKGLIDE CN-E6070-9) seem to operate quite well with the old rear derailleur and brifters. I did have to add the Wolf-Tooth Road-link to provide enough clearance to the derailleur to climb above it's max designed 32T limit to reach 11-36T (on the CS-LG400-9) because I had the short cage SS version and not the longer GS version. I think the SORA rear derailleur will stretch to 34T if the B-tension screw is long enough...but no more on it's own. This new U4000 cassette is also available as 11-41T & 11-46T. The smaller cogs are all: 11-13-15-17-20T on the CUES...which is different from SORA's bottom-end: 11-12-13-15-17-19T... but on my commute I will not miss those incremental gears and certainly enjoy the bigger range on the hills with a panier sack! -cheers

I just put the linkglide 10 spd cassette 11 48 on my bike today i,m running it as a 9 spd minus the 11 t must use 12 t lock ring and some spacers its a bit of a frankinstien ha ha. 9 spd xtr shifter 9spd xt mid cage deraileur sram 11 pd chain and a custom der hanger 15mm longer and 5mm behind axle and it works perfect it down shifts under load really smoothly but the delay in up shifts is noticeable comming from hg500 cassette so for winning sprints its a tiny bit slower. I,m not an e biker but do put out serious torq have stripped a few rear hubs and do lots and lots km all single track lots of tech climbing. The quality is not super high and sure the cassette may last longer but the chain probly wont having narrower side plates it has to wear quicker than 9spd time will tell . Thanks for you info .

You used a 11-50T cassette not the smaller 11-45T cassette. Based on your test & some of your other comments you have only tested the 11-50T cassette not the 11-45T. You stated in a comment that the capacity issue of the non cues/linkglide 11 speed derailleurs don’t have the big cog capacity to take a 50T. My question is can they take the cues/linkglide 11-45T cassette that is within their capacity & thus they might shift better because they aren’t being pushed beyond their capabilities

So as of today we have 3 systems. Shimano at it's finest to make things harder. Quite frankly I'm happy I switched to SRAM cause my life got simpler. 1. Shimano ESSA - (cheap 1x8 released ytd) - old 1:2 SIS 2. Dyna-Sys - HG+ drivetrain 12speed and legacy 10/11spd 1:1 3. Cues - something close to 1:1 but not exactly. They did what sram f..d up with their 10spd drivetrains. Shimano does not innovate anymore, all they do is to take care for their patents and they catch up SRAM when forced.

Presumably if the non Cues cassette works perfectly with the otherwise Cues setup, it'll work the other way. ie. if you have an otherwise HG drivetrain you could use a Linkglide 11 speed cassette without issues if longevity and smoothness were your priority over shift speed and weight. In other words the cassettes are interchangeable. Changing the pull ratio was completely unnecessary and a cynical move if you ask me ... making things incompatible because you can rather than because you need to, but at least 11 speed Cues and 11 speed HG seem to share the same cog pitch.
