Since a lot of you seem to complain about the fact that it's not "real" street food, let me explain: street food barely exists in France. Like little stands sometimes exists in marchés but it's never 7/7. What we consider (French people) as street food is cheap, quickly made food such as kebabs or tacos. Also, French people usually like to sit down and eat slowly, appreciate the taste so street food isnt really made for us since you buy it and you eat it while walking ^^'
@Parizankah5 жыл бұрын
We call our citizens French people, thank you very much.
@lucaindonesia29355 жыл бұрын
Street food isn't necessary while walking. In southeast Asia, people eat street food around tables. Street food supposes to be cheap, easy n fast food (i don't mean junk), can be found in streets, food courts, or even malls.

For those talking about the fact that most of these aren't "traditional" french foods : There are not many french dishes that you can turn into street food. The french like to take their time and actually sit to eat so street food isn't really a thing for us anyway.

Not really true: you've got a lot of things one could eat on the street: first of all the thousands kinds of (sweet) pâtisseries, all the small (salty) tartes and quiches, but one could also eat beignets, bouchées à la something if they were sold for the street (you can still find them and much, much more in boucheries or traiteurs). And never forget all kinds of sandwiches with different kind of breads, all the hundreds kind of crepes ... That makes already A LOT :)

That first galette looked so fresh and delicious, though humongous lol I like how parisian food, even street food, is relatively healthy and in normal sized portions. There are some Pho joints that I love in Paris and also the normal eateries with escargot and mussel dishes perfect for the summer with a little white wine on a sunny side of the street. yummm
@idap.67335 жыл бұрын
All of Alain’s street food is awesome, not only the galette, and the man is hella funny. Anyway Paris is not really known for street food, places like the Marché des Enfants Rouges come close enough though. In the Marais there’s plenty of Jewish street food cuisine, but most street food is lebanese, kebabs and generally arabic-asian food.

France is not about street food, our street food is essentially from stranger culture ( kebab, burgers, pizza ). In France meals are culturally a big deal, we take time to eat in a proper order ( entry, meal, cheese then dessert and even coffee if it's for lunch ), we sit, talk and enjoy. It's different then the relation you English have with food, we do not consider food as a fuel but as a gift, we take time to prepare it and appreciate it. ( It's not a critic, only an explanation, since french relationship with food is pretty uncommon )
@fapking47765 жыл бұрын
So its not street food but restaurant food

The only actual street food we have is fries and crêpes/waffles. It's quite rare for french people to just be eating and walking at the same time, we go into a café and chill there with our food, even if it's just for a kebab.

In the galeries Lafayette there’s this burger place which made the best fries ever!! It was a bit expensive, but they were so perfectly spiced I honestly would fly to Paris only to eat those fries. The burger was also pretty nice, not as nice as one in New York I had (from a proper burger joint) but definitely something I would think about. There’s only two restaurants in galeries Lafayette so it is pretty hard to miss. I don’t like the rest of Paris though. Parisians are quite difficult to deal with, I’ve found that from working at a hotel reception. (Compared to people in the rest of France, Parisians are the most difficult to deal with. I also met somebody who was literally called Karen and she was the biggest pain in the ass I have ever dealt with.)
