Get your first 3 weeks completely free with Listening using my link!!: www.listening.com/studytosuccess p.s. just wanted to clarify here (since my editor so rudely cut me off at the end 🙄) that breaks and rest are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NECESSARYYYY to not burn out!! However, when I was younger I felt constantly caught up in this vicious cycle where I was always behind on schoolwork, then procrastinated by scrolling / watching / reading stuff to distract myself, then frantically did schoolwork last minute when I started to finally panic, then burned out because I worked non-stop for a week, took a "break" by scrolling only to fall down a rabbit hole yet again, got behind on everything all over again, and the cycle continued endlessly. As a result I never felt like I truly had a day or even hour off because I was always supposed to be doing something for school or work, and I never actually scheduled time in or allowed myself to actually do hobbies or fun activities (or even 100% permit myself to watch something without feeling guilty). So I constantly felt burned out, felt guilty that I was behind all the time on everything, felt guilty that I was wasting so much time scrolling mindlessly, and felt guilty that I wasn't working on things or projects I was excited or passionate about (like my YT channel, hobbies, etc), so I felt miserable 24/7. The point is, if using your time during chores or commuting or waiting time helps you get stuff done so you can actually allow yourself to have a REAL, guilt-free break and do something you love or just have a self-care day, then I highly recommend trying to find those little moments in the day you can take advantage of. Nowadays I like to use my "free" time I create for myself to do sports, hang out with friends/family, do fun projects, etc, all of which replenish my energy for my work. However, I now have that "free" time because I use the habits I mentioned in this video. So please please PLEASE do not think you need to be productive 24/7 or never rest and turn into an extremely efficient robot lol - the point of time management is to create time to do what YOU love and free yourself from the negative cycle of being constantly behind but procrastinating because you don't know what else to do with yourself. Hope this clarifies things and makes sense!!💖

Gentle reminder that context and our mental health can affect our productivity. This video has really good tools, but learn to notice the signs of when you are unproductive, and when you actually need to rest. As a 27 year old with depression and anxiety (practically since birth), the rules that really helped me and also are great for starters are the 5 min rule and eating the frog. You will in fact feel better after working on those chores you don't want to do. Once you realize the sooner you liberate space in your mind, the clearly you'll see to organize yourself.

Don't forget to also have times where you're literally doing nothing. Look at something far away in the distance and let yourself just think your thoughts and feel your feelings without any media input. Go out in nature if you can. You don't have to cramp every moment full of productivity, but it is good not to waste time on social media or watching something on Netflix that you don't even enjoy very much.

Eating the frog is actually easy for me, the real deal is timing myself, I have no time perception whatsoever, so I will just panic about the timer and still don't finish in time, like wdym that was 10 minutes? That or I just simply forget about the timer at all, it really is rough out there, and now having said that, the habit stacking looks really helpful for that good association!

A bit of a rant. Dang...I wish I could put everything in 1-2 days but my college requires every academic subject to be 2-3 meetings per week with PE and school-oriented courses as the exception with 1 meeting per week. Unfortunately, one of the exceptions can only be taken on Saturday and takes 3 hours 😭. It doesn't help that my commute takes 1-1 hour and 30 minutes going to school and another to go home, I'm not allowed to dorm either since it costs too much and isn't safe (according to my mother and the news), and also I might accidentally perish by myself 🥲...because of the commute I'm not allowed to pack my subjects until the last available period since I'd end up having to go home late at night, and then I'll have to wake up at 4 AM just to not be late. I know I probably have it better than others, but it's still something I want to change but I can't due to internal and external requirements. Primarily, money. At this point, my only option to enjoy my college life to the fullest is if I go back to college when I finally get rich 😆. I hope that comes soon. Anyway, high-quality, informative, and aesthetic video as always! As someone nearing her finals, this video was a great help 😁.

During my WFH days, I'll take aside 30 minutes of my lunch break to clean. Monday, I dusted & vacuumed the living/dining areas. Today I cleaned my bathroom. One or two nights during the week while getting dinner ready, I'll do a load of wash. After I clean up the kitchen, I'll put the laundry away as part of my evening routine. This has helped me save so much time on the weekends, and I'm able to seriously get these chores done if I'm on a deadline and stay focused. Great video; love your content. Thanks! ⭐️

Hey Estella, thank you for this video, I found it genuinely helpful & I'm a 30 year old PhD student... I find the younger generations like yourself are a useful source of new wisdoms especially when it comes to dealing with problems of this digital age. As a woman, you mentioned in a previous video about dealing with PMS. I find I lose several days in the month to this so I have two questions if you have the time to answer them. 1. How do you reduce your PMS symptoms or make them more manageable? 2. How do you stay productive on days when it's your time of the month? Thank you x

Hey! I’m not Estella, but I have a tip for PMS. Try taking Magnesium!! Super cheap (like $10 for 150 pills). I start taking it a few days before my period starts and then stop about 3 days into my period. It helps sooo much with PMS symptoms like cramping, irritability, sleep loss, and mood swings. For me, it works better at relieving cramps then ibuprofen. Give it a try!!

All of these tips are wonderful and amazing for those of us who are busy, but I want to remind y’all that you don’t have to be productive 24/7. If listening to music is a way you calm down after a long day, then please, listen to that music. I find that after school is my time to just destress. If my neurodivergent brain wants to clean during that time for dopamine, then I go with it, but I don’t plan my time after school unless absolutely necessary because I know it will just cause me more stress. We are not machines, we are not meant to work efficiently 100% of the time. You can take breaks. You can be unproductive. You can relax and take time off. You can be human. 🤍
