Just starting playing this game and this video pops up. Love the game, and I can use all the help I can get. There's a lot of classes I glossed over, and I didnt realize how good they were before you talked about them. Getting it for my friends, too, the more the merrier. Will definitely recommend them some easier classes to get them started (I may gaslight them into playing Jester, just for fun) ;] Love how you do your videos, too. Keep it up! I'll definitely watch the races guide when it comes out, there's a lot of combos with race + class that im just discovering.

Glad you've gone back an done a updated video on this. I put the game down for about a year right before quality of death fully came out cause I had things come up and just didnt have motivation to play. And watching some of the videos recently I've been nervous to pick it back up from just how different everything looks

Vampire goes amazing with monk and cleric because monk slows your hunger and the cleric lets you use polymorph on your summons making them much more powerful. Also, both of the classes make your vampire pretty much a tank wizard hybrid

Think after about 10 runs playing random classes, monk was only one that i managed to get past the gnome hell :) I'll give these other classes a try out as well

Wanderer was the class that really helped me learn the Gnomish Mines due to them starting with the Ring of Warning, it really helped with learning where enemies start out on the map and helped with traversing the mines safely. Once I did the Gnomish Mines a couple times with the Ring of Warning I was able to start doing it on other classes and feel confident in clearing the mines and that has helped me start consistently winning due to the huge exp boost early on carrying the early game immensely.

I Agree for most of these notes, but would personally recommend ninja. Throwing knives especially for the first 10 floors can trivialize most enemies if you keep track of them. This combined with the slow ability to learn to kill shopkeepers and high basespeed/stealth I think its incredibly useful for new players to help them learn in a new direction where the tutorial doesent really cover.

I think ninja is really strong, but I decided against adding them because I didn't really feel they were good for newer players. The stealth and their immense strength is great, but there really isn't a need to try and kill shopkeepers starting out. I recommended the wanderer as a stealthy class instead because they can do both ranged and melee stealth, and because this tutorial is more focused toward people who can't consistently get past the mines :)

@ I’d definitely agree to the first point but their genuine power and speed to deal with Minotaurs, random elite spawns, and get you your first stave in gnomish for free (where other classes can struggle). I think those are the major points for most new players, if you can beat mines or get helm and out you’ve largely set yourself in a place to succeed with the only downside being low int from ninja to cast with (reduced by artifact helm). Very few other classes can boast anything close to this, add on stealth for newbies in gnomish and they’re not being jump scared as hard, huge boon imo. Learning that blocking is not the only viable way to trade is so important.

A tip for monk because the knuckle gauntlets are so rare, more so as I did penniless as a challenge making them far rarer, I equip your starting gloves, the only add +1 dmg which ain’t much but you do lose one more but this is to prevent the gods of rng from is t breaking them via you taking hit sir dealing hits, you base dmg without the brass knuckles on are already quite high and if skilled alongside very lucky you can hit unarmed 100 where you can put gauntlets back in which they will unbreakable from you dealing damage but not taking damage but it just makes them far less likely to break on you whilst min-‘maxing high dmg.

Human if you're new, but if you're trying the DLCs out, the wanderer is good with races like insectoid or vampire.

Arcanist is the class I got my first good run with getting to the sand labirynth while before I struggled to get out of the mines

I think shaman is good because you are less dependent on your armor thanks to trasformations but i would say it's hard to start because of need to level up to unlock them. I would like a gudie how to unlock classes for races that had them locked

All the dlc classes are unlocked to human after buying the dlc, in order to unlock them for other monsters races you need to beat the game with their signature race, for example you need to beat the twins with a goblin of any class (shaman or any other) in order to unlock shaman for every monster race.

Fun thing, the buff to slimes did also buff the cleric (also i think you can rng into the super slimes, but don't quote me on that)

Healer's a great intro to magic cause they're good with melee for a mage, and they have heals :D Plus, they're much better with friends!

@@JonoHasMono I bought the game after Quality of Death patch after i watched pretty much all of your videos so i did not go blind into the game but i was expecting to die over and over again on 1st level. My first run was barbarian and i got to level 5 (died to mimic bcs i thought there would be no enemies and i let my guard down) and i was thinking: "This game isnt that difficult, its not bad. I am going to try healer, if i am able to heal myself from the begining i cannot die." I died immediately to couple of rats. First enemy i saw. Healer has 20hp and no armor. There is literally loading screen with healer being muredered by rats :D

the Ninja is the most op class for me, I sucked cuck until i picked ninja and beat everyone in the game by just stealth killing EVERYONE, just a more specialized Wanderer
