Jason's Ultima Online story makes this episode absolute gold. I've actually heard quite a few stories of people in MMO games - where there aren't many real-world repercussions for your actions - doing crazy scams or destroying the economy based on the same principles of classic cons. The guy who embezzled an Eve Online player-owned corporation for millions of credits comes to mind. My inner nerd really wants to see an article/video on that.

Desperadox23 it is. The French wanted to make a present as a symbol of peace, and decided to remake the lady's statue in America but bigger. Some liberties were given to make them dicferent, but the one in France was not only made first, but made by the same archetect.

I believe that I’ve seen and interview with the actor Robert Wagner talking about how he began his contract... cutting to the chase. He went for a contract meeting in a restaurant well dressed and he arranged with a friend that used to drive a limo just to stop by and wave a him. He would pretend like he was still busy in the meeting and wave like... not now... come back later. The producer was impressed about the luxurious limo and thought he was rich and had money. Very far from the truth, he was totally broken, but that scam worked out so well that they decided to offer him a very high contract. I wish I could find that on KZbin. I guess I’ve seen that on a late night show.

I have some life experiences with scammers and thieves. The shit you can get away with by just being shameless, just picking something up and walking out: if it looks like you belong there, people will not stop you... The first instinct is not to suspect others of wrongdoing, it is one of the last options after we have exhausted other reasons. We are primed to find extraordinary things: suspicious behavior, looking around while being nervous, someone who does not belong in the picture doing something that doesn't look right... Pretty much anyone will notice those in a second. But just doing it without thinking that it is wrong, being confident and generally looking like you know what you are doing.. they will not pay any attention to someone who is just doing their job.. This will also extend to leadership role: just pretend you know what you are doing, issue commands and people will follow you. We love to be around people who have their shit together, who seemingly are in control and know what is going to happen next. Which explains a lot how incompetence will not stop people from advancing in a corporate ladder.

So i came in 2 days later on Friday morning at 6:30 am and handed him a stack of papers. and on every test and home project i had gotten 100% on. That story in the beginning reminds me of an experience I had in high school. I had a paper due for a class and missed the midnight deadline. Sent it in the next day and the teacher had been scammed so many times by the good old "Well I sent the email, I dunno how you didn't get it" that she had a policy where she'd only accept it late if you could take a screenshot of when the document was last modified. While my legit screenshot would've given me away, opening up that screenshot in photoshop made quick work of changing the last modified date and and time.

I think there needs to be an episode of the Modern Rouge that has Mr. Happy Pants in it. Mr. Happy Pants is just so metal.

PEPPER, it's not the ideology itself, although it has a bit to do with it. It's that he leeched off of the back of one of his friends and his wife. Doing nothing, paying nothing, giving nothing but writing a book to ruin the people that are rich and wealth. Like his friend he leeched off of. THATS why i consider him a conman

"Soviet who Cuts" okay no one here meant to insult your ideology, holy book and prophet. It's about starving out people and causing strife, we know this.

I have heard that the Eiffel Tower was ment to be temporary and because it's so different from the other Parisian architecture some people wanted it gone, so I can't blame someone for believing it would be scrapped.

Here's a local con man: At Alton Tower in England, you have to pay for parking, and there was a car park next to it that was completely free. What this guy did is he bought himself a hi-vis jacket, and sat by the entrance - charging people for parking in this car park. He did this for 15 years, and then disappeared one day. When people started going to Alton Towers to ask about this, they said that they didn't even own that car park, and they had no clue who this person was.
