Old video, so you will probably not see this, but still want to say it. My lower back was hurting more and more since I started the Grayskull LP. Then I watched this video and I realised how much I wasn't doing this exercise right. Especially the "arc behind to lift heavier" part. I corrected the form, droped the weight a lot (pride is easier to fix than vertebraes) and felt no pain the last session. I don't know what is my long term goal, but at least I have a chance to reach it without major injury. So thank you, Buff Dudes! (french speaker, so sorry for any spelling mistakes, grammar, yada yada yada...)

Enjoying your videos, dudes. I noticed a couple of times though, that some things you call mistakes to avoid are actually considered proper technique for weighlifters. For example, using your legs to pop the weight up into position on the overhead press. Another is using an alternating grip on the deadlift. Also, arching your back almost to the point of lifting your butt off of the bench during the benchpress. I realize that your goals are different than a weightlifter, so it really just depends on what someone is trying to achieve.

Feet placement : shoulder width apart in with toes pointing forward more stabilization. Try to flex your core like someone is about to hit you there and imagine pushing the floor with your quads in order to straighten out your posture. When grabbing the bar, make sure everything's tight which is crucial throughout the lift to get the maximum power and to avoid injuries.

I'm surprised you guys didn't mention grip. I don't know if there's such a thing as a right or wrong grip for the OHP but I prefer doing a false grip, just a little bit outside of shoulder width on the bar. I've always heard that's never good to go super wide.

Thinking about adding this to my shoulder day, right now it's upright rows, side lateral raises, Arnold press and shrugs. Get rid of the Arnold press and do a overhead shoulder instead. I'm just getting back into lifting so getting up the motivation to even do it is the issue, lol. I'm a fat body right now, miss being strong. ( I was/ am doing seated arnold presses with dumbbells, I want to switch to a standing press with a barbell.)

question!!! now lets say i am doing the correct and proper form the entire exercise for 9 or so reps but i wan to get those extra or "forced reps" like with a cheat curl or a negative on the bench. is it ok to use the legs at the last reps i can't get or just lighten the weight?
@lonnycartier.62038 жыл бұрын
Mistake one has to be the most common mistake I see at my gym followed by dumbbell presses with too much weight. For mistake one I will get them to use a Olympic bar same as you are using with no weights. The bar alone is 40lbs -50lbs depending which one and get them use to lifting is a vertical formation.correctly. Great advices in this clip.. To the rest of the world, Buff on Buff Dudes and dudettes.
