My image for true arceus is the beta sprite. The beta sprite was ethereal, and inconceivable kinda like how God of Judeo-Christian religions is described (this extends to the biblically accurate angels we all know and love) Beta Arceus is also seemingly fluid and that can be interpreted as a being that's omnipresent which is the way I interpret the countless arms. If it had a much more detailed artwork, maybe sprinkle in some nebulas and starfire on it to signify that it is a heavenly being (kinda like league's Aurelion Sol), that it is the one above all

Speaking of the tcg, another feature in there that seems like it inspired an addition to the main series games would be the delta pokemon. From what I recall, they were basically pokemon with types that were different than what they normally were, and there was a whole storyline within the cards that talked about how they were all found in a specific special region. You could say that this was what eventually brought about regional variants.

I feel very strongly that what we know as Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark had an even earlier form. My guess is possibly it was fairy type at that point. The dex entries and lore definitely imply this to me.

I'm pretty sure the original forms of Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are just Unovan Zorua and Zoroark. We know that people inhabit Unova by the time period Legends Arceus takes place in, since Professor Laventon brought an Oshawatt to Hisui, and Unovan Zorua and Zoroark already have mystical powers of illusion. They seem to be in that category of Dark types that are in the type more because people mistrust them than anything they do, like Absol. It's possible that there was another form, but I don't know what piece of lore makes you think it existed or was a fairy type.

@@kimberlyramin the timeline argues that Dark type Zorua and Zoroark came about later, not previously. And certainly not concurrently. If we then allow the Pokédex entries to speak for themselves: Hisuian Zoroark and Zorua came about because of humans abusing it. It died and came back as this form. The abused partly dead form is normal/ghost. It only stands to reason that as time continues it would shift from half ghost to full Dark with continued fear and abuse from humans. Therefore it would also stand to reason that whatever form it was before it was abused and died to become Normal/Ghost, it wasn’t those before. You don’t corrupt a Dark type and make it less Dark. Dark would be the darkest it gets. It makes zero sense to imagine a Dark type Zorua was abused, died, and became less Dark. It only makes sense going the other direction.

@@cairneoleander8130 There isn't really a timeline to argue over, since we don't know the state of affairs in the Unova region during the Hisui period. We know the Sinnoh region's timeline in a very broad, vague sense, but we don't know the wider world's status, including the full list of existing pokemon and forms. As for the typing, Zoroark's line is Dark type because humans mistrust it, in the same way that Absol is Dark type because humans think it causes disasters. Zoroark actually has similar, if more powerful abilities than Stantler, creating illusions and causing confusion. If humans didn't hate Zoroark, it easily could've been Normal or Psychic type. But they do, so humans abused and probably killed a number of the pokemon, resulting in the angriest and most stubborn of them becoming vengeful undead. Ghost type isn't a corruption, it's just the state of lingering after death. Now that Zoroark is undead, it's a ghost type. It's more the normal type that would mean the original wasn't Dark type, which i can believe. I just don't think it would've been Fairy. I think the original Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark were normal types, maybe normal ice. It's possible this was the original species, and events played out differently for it in Unova and Hisui, resulting in the spilt. In Hisui, the pokemon was unable to avoid the exploring members of Galactic, so it created a scary illusion to chase them away. The people then became too scared of the pokemon, their emotions went full circle into hatred, and a decision was made to hunt them so they couldn't hurt them anymore. This resulted in the terrible events that created the Hisuian form we know today. Meanwhile in Unova, the Zoroark may have been better at hiding, or better at creating their illusions, and were able to exist on the periphery of human awareness for a very long time, like those shadows you spot out the corner of your eye, but then you look and it's gone. People became paranoid about the dark forests that zoroark lived in, especially since they could never find their way in certain areas. These emotions were felt and absorbed by the Zoroark of Unova for a long time, and gradually turned them into the Dark type we know now, since again, Dark type isn't exclusively evil, it's also the type of pokemon that are simply mistrusted because of their nature or abilities.

I was hoping deltas would be mentioned, but I'm not sure if they're well known or not, they were my introduction to the TCG (and responsible for me being wrong about many types), and they're actually very fascinating because there was a whole lore and region surrounding them with the Holon region! I wonder if that might work for an obscure regions video, Southern Islands is another obscure TCG-only region. I wish they'd do that in the TCG again because as a kid it was fun to piece together this little region that only existed in the card games haha

So when it comes to the Colosseum shinys I believe its more of a technical limitation rather then a error by the developers. When it comes to 3D graphics it's not the mesh (the actual 3D model) that has a large file size but rather the textures themselves are. I assume they couldn't justify giving every Pokemon 2 separate textures so most had a filter applied to them or otherwise had their texture changed though code for their shiny forms.

My take on Arceus’ true form was always a humanlike bipedal thing. I was inspired by the old Sinnoh myth that humans and Pokemon were once one and the same, and so I think it only makes sense that Arceus would carry the essence of all life with it and be both human and Pokemon.

For #4, Light Pokemon kinda exist in Go through purified Pokemon. They have higher base stats and possible CP, can know the powerful move Return, and take 5% less candy to evolve. For #1, they’re hue shifts just like the sprites. But hue shifting for textures is a whole other story than hue shifting pixels.

I think it would be an interesting concept for a game to have pokemon being either corrupted or purified by dark or light energy (kinda like in Gale of Darkness or Pokemon 4Ever).

In regards to Arceus: in Arceus and the jewel of life, Arceus gives a character three of it's plates to make a jewel, the jewel of life which are pieces of arceus's life. Arceus is incomplete without them. Additionally, some dex entries speak of arceus using it's 1000 arms. This suggests that those parts that arceus gave could be like in the movie, or that the arms are the part that are unseen. I therefore don't think arceus giving 'parts' of itself means it has a different form.

It's pretty much like Shadow/Purified in pokemon GO. Edit after point 4... LIGHT IS NOT A TYPE! 3.The Arceus one is kinda lame... No form does not equal new form. 4.'Crystal pokemon' weren't a form, it's a typing/ability... the thing in SV is not what the tcg did. Keep in mind, throughout the tcg history, there are alot of cards including delta species, that don't stick to a pokemons game typings... there are way fewer types in the tcg... Edit after calling colorless normal... The White pokemon cards are generally Normal/flying type pokemon. COLORLESS energy means All/no typing. Closer to the crystal point you are trying to make. ENERGY types don't equal pokemon typings. 5.developer error does NOT equal canon... Literally 3 out of 5 points were wrong. This is a terrible video, for what the title is...

You missed the Pokémon Stadium 2 alternate shinies! Mewtwo has a black tail and stomach instead of green, and I wish it was the shiny form they went with! I have the answer to how the Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness shinies came about. It was late generation 3, coming close to but not quite reaching the Era of gen 4 with the DS and Wii. At the time, shiny pokemon colors were randomly designed by an algorithm, which is why there are so many blue pokemon that turned pink. And that worked fine for the 2d games, as the algorithm could be carried over from sprite to sprite. But the algorithm didn't work on 3d models like the game cube games had. Either a new algorithm was used when making models, or the color codes on the models were different from the colors on the sprites, resulting in changes to the shiny forms of the 3d pokemon. Those forms are just the game cube versions of the shinies, which is why when they were transferred to other games, they became standard shiny pokemon. They were never meant to be different, but it would've been difficult to fix such a rare and unimportant detail, so they were left as is.

Also, I do not count the "wrong" Shiny forms of Pokemon from the Pokemon games set in the Orre Region as an entirely different form of Shiny Pokemon. We've seen throughout the generations of the main series games of Pokemon, where there has often had some Shiny Pokemon that are a different color than in a different game. If I recall correctly, Shiny Charizard in Gen 2, was Purple, but later Gens instead made Charizard's Shiny form black-colored. I treat the wrong color of Shiny Pokemon in Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness, as the same sort of case of some Shinies having an inconsistent color palette throughout the generations.

I think it's important to clarify: colusium and XD are main series pokemon games! Let's get down what a main series game is. A main series game is 1 that you play as a trainer catching pokemon*, filling in a pokedex, & playing through a story. *those pokemon have to be able to be moved to what is now pokemon home. Obvious exceptions for partner pikachu/eevee, scruffy pichu, and cosplay pikachu. With different types of games like sun & moon, PLA, and let's go E/P which each respectively lack gyms, an elite four & badge system at all, & wild encounter battles we need to reclarify and redefine what a main series poke on game is and pokemon colusium and XD are as much a respect to the main series as any of those other deviant games and are actually vital to completing your origional gen 3 pokedexs.

It would indeed be cool if "second shinies" or alternately colored pokemon were a thing in the mainline pokemon games. One can only hope that it will actually happen in a future pokemon game! If it did happen, that would be a revolutionary pokemon game, and makes it unique in it's own way. If I had to guess where something like that would occur, my guess would be a region of Japan that hasn't been made into a traditional pokemon region yet. Or maybe it would happen on one of those Orange Island equivalents. It would be cool if they made the Orre region a mainline pokemon region. It has a lot of potential. Or if they could rerelease XD Gale of Darkness or Colluseum again on the switch, that would be great. But I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up, as per usual. I suppose as long as they make great pokemon games going forward, I'll be happy.

I have had the same thoughts, they might implement it when they run out of ideas or try to recapture player base. They kinda introduced it with square shinies.

My pokesona as a child to adulthood was a gray Sandshrew and it took me until last year to realize it was gen2 and colosseum shiny.

Gastrdon with a shell reminds me a bit of how Slugma evolves into Magcargo, and gains a shell made from molten rock.

They should add something like super shinies that have different shiny particles, a new color scheme and are significantly rarer

They already do, shiny pokemon with Square sparkles instead of stars.

The colosseum and XD shiny difference is because the shinies were generated by a code previously. This explains why there are a lot of ugly green shinies, and why some pokémon have shinies that barely differ in color from their original counterpart. Their shiny forms are based on the colors of the place they are found if I'm correct, and they copy-pasted the code, not taking into consideration what it truly does.

I feel like the Light vs Dark Pokémon is more of a reflection of how the player builds the Pokémon’s move set; with the Light being more defensive and strategic and the Dark being more offensive and unga-bunga beat down.

1) Gastrodon (with a bigger shell) 2) "light" Pokémon from the TCG (opposed to "shadow" Pokémon like from the GameCube game) 3) Arceus (since we have only ever had a fragment of itself, plus in the pokedex it mentions Arceus and its "thousands arms") 4) "Crystal type" Pokémon from the TCG (like the Terastalization in Gen 9?) 5) second type of shiny Pokémon from the GameCube games

Technically, there's "Light" pokemon in GO; it's what you get when you purify a shadow pokemon in that game. It's distinct from a non-shadow pokemon, notably.

The collosem and gale of darkness ones are actually justified. Prior to gen 6, all shinies was designed using an algorythm, which meant that no humans designed them. This applies Colloseum and XD, and because they were in 3d with a different color pallete, the algorythm didn't behave the same and gave most pokemon the wrong coloration
