One time, in pokemon shield, I just bred a bunch of Tyrogs, and leveled them up until one of them eventualy turned into Hitmontop. 😂

Tyrogue is not that hard to evolve, in Generation 6 ownards, a parent Holding Destiny Knot, will make any Egg belonging to the Pokémon that are found will inherit 5 of their individual values from both their parents, rather than 3. This means only 1 IV will be random. Use a 5-6 IV Ditto holding a Destiny Knot and Hitmonlee / Hitmonchan / Hitmontop to breed it until you see a Tyrogue egg with both perfect Attack and Defense IVs (31 to be exact), don't let Tyrogue get any EVs in Attack and Defense until it reaches Level 20 or higher. It has to be a not in a Minus or Plus Defense or Attack Nature, Jolly can be an example to make it evolve to Hitmontop.

its actually not that hard in later games.. you just breed right parents.. if you have high IV ditto from ultra sun then itry kinda easy to get egg with rights stats and then just kill pokemons that give hp or speed(pidgey) and done

Trade evolutions and version exclusives are the reasons why I've always had 2 systems and bought both games. No need to find anyone to trade with, no worrying about someone trading your pokemon back to you, etc..

1:26 Only child here. Trade evolutions were horrible for me. I had a friend who sort of helped me but that as only in Gen 3. For Gens 1-2, I was absolutely out of luck. I had Machoke and Haunter and Kadabra and Graveler and just accepted it. I knew the evos existed, I just could never get them until Sw/Sh

I remember finding Deino in my first black playthrough and spending a full night grinding it out. Just kept leveling up in victory road till it evolved. Never recaptured that feeling but that's a good thing too.

Also one thing you didn't mention about Umbreon and Espeon in gen 3 is that in RSE you can't get Eevee at all, so you'll need to trade it from FRLG and then grind friendship and evolve it

Post Gen 2 I don't think I ever bothered trying to evolve Hitmontop as I snagged a Shadow Hitmontop in Coliseum which I've traded up through the generations - it's too much work to evolve one. There were also those random item evolutions to evolve Espeon and Umbreon at the start of XD Gale of Darkness which were very helpful but have never returned since

About that the last time I played Gold/SIlver by the time I had it become the Dark or Psychic type its was pretty much AFTER you have access to Red/Mt Silver and his Way OVER LEVELED pokemon ie the last battle of the game.

Espeon especially if you want confusion or psybeam early before you face morty and in my most recent playthrough of crystal it took me to level 40 and the elite four to finally get one thankfully there are berries to help with it

Location based evos were the bane of my existance: Icy rock is unreachable before the 7th gym in Sinnoh, you need a specific season to access the icy rock (BW) or both rocks locked until postgame in B2W2; and you have to get into the league to get snow weather/electric field in Sun/Moon. Now you only need thunder/ice/leaf stone to evolve Eevee/Charjabug/Magneton/Crabrawler

I had a milotic in emerald back in the day. It took hours and hours. I fished at each title 6 or so times before I moved on to the next one. I found out also that if you didn’t have certain berries that maxed the beauty stat faster, you needed to have a nature where your feebas liked dry poke blocks, and/or you had to be really good at making them. My first feebas didn’t work out. Good thing the tile was seared into my memory

I have to comment that i was that kid who got Espeon, and Dragonite in my play through of gold multiple times because i learned that grind made beating lance breeze, game corner drainti anybody. I also taught it ice punch to deck lance's dragonites . And Milotic i become obsessed with Pokémon to the point where every play through of gen three i did search it out and save the blue poke block and even optimized its nature to get the perfect water tank. I know i was a weird kid with too much time on my hands lol loved the vid brought back great memories.

In Generation 2, it's quite hard to raise friendship in that generation from the few methods to raise it. Vitamins are quite expensive and give out some friendship when used on a pokemon. From generations 2 to 7 some Pokémon will evolve from friendship when they have at least 220+ friendship, in Generation 8 ownards just 160+ friendship is needed making it easier to evolve those pokemon. Any pokemon hatched from an egg will start with 120 friendship, just only having to get 100 more friendship points for it to evolve (in Gens 2 to 7) or 40 more friendship points in gen 8 ownards. The Soothe bell and Luxury Ball were introducced in Generation 3, making friendship evolutions a little easier. The friendship increasing berries were introduced in Emerald, you can even harvest lots of them (In Emerald, Generation 4, 6, 7 and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) to make friendship evolutions even more easier.

The clone glitch helped out a lot for the Hitmon evos. Just check out Tyrouge stats, give it the vitamin needed to boost the stat you want, clone it and bam! You got all three Hitmons!

The trade ones were the worst for me. My brother and I each had a copy of Red/Blue and Gold/Silver but that was where we stopped being synced. I did manage to get a Feebas and Milotic! Basically JUST as I was about to give up searching I found one of the tiles and made sure to catch like, 5. Hitmontop was fairly easy for me but that was just because I bought the stat adjusting items as needed once I stopped caring about the money aspect.

I misunderstood how the prism scale worked after I played Detective Pikachu in which the only on screen evolution was a wild Feebas into Milotic after it saved a boy who had a prism scale on his bandana it's was friends with from a Crawdant.

When I got my first feebas I got ultra mega lucky and found one without even trying and while I didn’t evolve it until gen 4 I got all the beauty ribbons while it was still a feebas and would’ve gotten all the sinnoh ribbons if my brother didn’t accidentally trade it away after mishearing me

Milotic was always my favorite to get and evolve. It’s a bit harder to evolve now without trading unless you are raising its beauty in BDSP and then sending it to another game.

I lucked out big time with evolving hitmontop. I hade no idea how it evolved so I just levelled up my tyroge until it evolved at level 30. I just assumed hitmonlee from level 20-29 and then hitmontop at 30. then got stuck on hitmonchain and then worked out how hard it actually was to get hitmontop.Only took a couple of hours if I remember we were on a long car trip so I had nothing better to do.

Finizen should have a new evolution method where you can get a special item instead of multiplayer mode in a new generation Also in next generation, Meltan should evolve in the core series by getting at least 2000 steps in the over world by letting it walk outside the poke ball (that would be the only way Meltan evolves outside of Pokémon Go) Like starting in Generation 5 (except for BDSP) evolves by trade holding a prism scale instead of max beauty

Omg i did miraculously find a Feebas back in Ruby having no clue about those 6 tiles. Asked my friends how to evolve it. Gave it every beauty berry and pokeblock possible, it got to a point i couldn’t feed it anymore AND THIS MF REFUSED TO EVOLVE!!! I got it to like lvl 50-something and just gave up. Never found another one.
